  • i dutch ovened my gf last night

  • E-tool...lol...Ive not heard that term in many years. Ive got the one i had in the Marine Corps around , somewhere. Ive made lasagna in my Dutch Oven while camping! I made it at home and stuck the entire thing in the freezer. It took a couple of days to thaw (winter camping) and one day to eat...lol. Fried potatoes, onions, bacon, peppers...yummy...anything is good in a Dutch Oven. Ive yet to make bread in one, though.

  • Yum, this is good inspiration. I'm cooking in the dutch oven next week.. need some inspiration ;-) Watch for the videos to come.

  • Nice video!

  • The formula for coals/heat is "3 +/-".

Using the measurement of the dutch oven, subtract '3' for the bottom, and add '3' for the top. If it's a 12 inch oven, place 9 coals under the bottom and 15 coals over the top.

Cook for about 30 to 40 minutes, turning the pot 75º-90º (and rotate the top) every 15 minutes.

It's really good to sprinkle brown sugar, cinnamon and butter on the top before placing on the coals. (using the "dry cake mix method.) :-)

  • looks good. i don't use foil. this past weekend I did a pioneer cooking demo for yankee peddler in ohio and baked an apple pie in the 14" dutch usinga cast iron grate in the bottom and a ceramic pie plate. took about 1 hour plus15 min. (no watches allowed) lol. so i was going by the sun. but it worked and nothing was burned just nicely tan. :) i am a backcountry cook, packer, and guide.

  • Great video. Where can I get a good one?

  • Cabelas has them last time I checked.

There might be a few other stores that sell farm equipment. The Farm and Fleet near me had some. But that is a fairly local chain common in WI.

Just google dutch oven and see what pops up.

  • damn, that looks good dude

  • A very heavy. But amazing survival tool.

  • Oh SWEET! We just dug our fire pit and have gotten our dutch oven (originaly for stew, but this looks BETTER!)

    THANKS!

    Best Blessings!

    Donna
