There is a saying "Freedom without responsibility is liberty, not license". Under this criteria, there is no liberty. You want freedom? Assume more responsibility. Why then as now haven't these Arab countries given these people homes or shelter? In 1947 the Jews voted for a country. The Arabs voted no.

I was 8 or 9 when Exodus came out and even then it meant something to me, a little Catholic girl.....50 years later it means even more since I found out in those 50 years that my dad's family were Ashkenzai Jews who "gave up" their heritage to get to the US...great movie and great music

As an African-Amaerican I am still dismayed at how so many in this world want to revise history, making the Jews the villan in the middle east. I can almost understand Arab hatred because this has been spoon fed to them for eons. For all else shame on you! Since the UN partition plan for the area in 1947, how many times were displaced Arabs (now, called Palestinians) been offered a "homeland". Didn't the last peace conference fail because the Arabs disagreed over the shape of the table?

In 1947, when the state of israel was made, the whole country of palestine was split into two, which started the whole conflict. From the time Jews first began to populate the area in any numbers in the late 1800's until the time of the UN accord in 1947 the area was supervised and owned by the British. The state of Israel was never made. The option was given to those inhabitants both arabs (who were not called Palestinians at the time) and Jews to form governments on equal portions of land by vote.

Why then as now haven't these Arab countries given these people homes or shelter? In 1947 the Jews voted for a country. The Arabs voted no.

Leon Uris's book Exodus (on which the movie is based) is one of the most repulsively racists tracts you'll ever read. It was commissioned in the mid 50s by a PR man (Robert Gottlieb) who wanted to improved the image of Israel in the US. Slowly more and more people are coming to understand most of what they have known about Israel is fiction. It's an apartheid state.

Hitler had a "promised land" too, it was called Germany and he went about exterminating and conquering everyone he considered "invaders" to his homeland. @PunchDial . yeesh. early zionists were secular, not religious at all. jews have equal claim as much as palestinians. thats why israel accepted 1948 partition plan. too bad palestinians rejected it- if they did, we would not be having this conversation. thats an inconvenient fact. eygpt signed a peace treaty and got back land lost in 1967 war. israel is waiting 40 years for a peace treaty with palestinians- when that happens, they will get most of their land back.

This movie is, at best, idealistic nonsense, at worst, - and this statement is much closer to the truth - an outrageous denial of the rights of the Palestinian people, who are the true descendents of the Jews of Biblical times.

No population was emptied but most of the arabs moved to neighboring arab countries for their call to return later and desroy Israel. Meanwhile 800.000 Jews were expelled from arab countries in 1948 and in the following decades.
