of course cream and butter make mashed potatoes more delicious. but cream and butter make any thing more delicious. what is new? the ingenuity is to make a mashed potatoes to be delicious without all the cholestrol pumped into them. none of the cooks on you tube know how make a tasty mashed potatoes without all the cream and butter. that is a shame...
@hotboyclarence well obviously. its about enjoyment, not being healthy, since you are not gonna make this every day. i've tasted healthy mashed potatoes without cream and butter, and they dont taste nearly as good. so its up to you.
@hotboyclarence I am sorry, but I don't buy that excuse. "Tasty" and "healthy" are NOT mutually exclusive. A master chef can produce both in the same dish. I remember years ago having mashed potatoes that was more flavorful than the main dish itself!! When I asked what went into it, the chef replied: "a cup of bacon fat". Good God!! What else, a cup of salt?
Come on chef, you can produce healthy and tasty together. KFC cannot do that, but a Chef should.
@hotboyclarence You have no idea what you are talking about, and clearly are not much of a cook yourself. Butter and rendered fats taste amazing in foods, as you yourself discovered with the bacon fat potatoes you ate. I cook and eat healthy most nights, but I like to indulge one night a week. There is nothing wrong with that.
@hotboyclarence Cholesterol pumped into them? When are you writing from, the 1970s? There has been EXTENSIVE research saying that dietary intake of cholesterol actually has very little effect on blood cholesterol levels EXCEPT for people with genetically high cholesterol. You should be more worried about the saturated fats associated with butter and cream. At any rate, you should know what you're talking about before creating inflammatory comments on here.
