  • i thought most swords where deep in the day?

  • Ya Berk

  • i see you guys at the 172 lol

  • i stuck a few, Purple hot dog on a stick i worked with Marty Salas on the 6x or as we called it 6 sex!!!

  • Great video. With the expenses of such a large boat, is this profitable?

  • @jsnappa The boat is owned by the Fish Market, so yes I'm sure they do just fine!

  • Sweet seeing the local King N Action Keith Poe

  • sh!t like this should be illegal

  • that show swords is horrible they pitch 900 lines out kill everything insight u guys r the same i should have a tornament and burn all ur boats

  • @bassglx You're an efing idiot. Try informing yourself before insulting hardworking skilled fisherman that fish the most sustainable, selective, discriminate fishery on the planet.

  • i hope ur hole fleet sinks to the bottom of the ocean

  • @bassglx

Your ignorance is incredible! Harpooning swordfish, doesn't get any more selective than that. Also you should inform yourself on just how selective modern longlining is. If you have seen the show swords, you will notice not much if any bycatch mortality.

  • They don't escape the harpoon line is attached to a power source that instantly immobilization of the fish then they are hauled aboard

  • @beanem2000 We don't shock 'em in California.

  • this looks pretty cool but i have to say I bet a lot of these fish get harpooned but still escape, and with the injury from the harpoon probably attract a lot of predators and end up dying so its too bad. im just speculating, since i didnt even know ppl still harpooned fish,so i dont know its effectiveness

  • @jamjamboree Nope your speculation is wrong, its not uncommon to land 95+ percent.

  • looks like many comments from both sides, i don't know anything about long lining and i have not done my "own" research on sword populations. therefore i cant comment. all i can say is this is an AWESOME video. sight fishing is the most selective of any method. GREAT JOB !!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I would like to see more sustainable methods of fishing for Swordfish, but we have to recognize that the people are in business to make money to provide for their families. The introduction of large, industrialized methods of fishing have all but killed the traditional methods of fishing for Swords. Support your local fisherman! He helps feed America!

  • I thought swordies are 3000 feet down...?

  • yea but they come up everyone once in a while

  • these are nice size swordfish, bigger then off of the coast of nova scotia. but we only get about 10 a trip avarage

  • wtf are you talking about sword fish are ever one on the east coast of florida

  • real nice video, this is my first year harpooning and i just got in from my first trip. Looks like you guys had a lot of fun. Keep up the good work

  • very little fish

  • This is why swordfish and other species like the Giant Bluefin Tuna are becoming commercially extinct. Population of these fisheries are 10% of what they were 100 years ago. There needs to be a morotorium on commercial sword and bluefin fishing if we hope to preserve the species for the next generation. At least harpooning doesn't produce bycatch although we still cannot afford to take these large breeders out of the wild stock. Longliners must be banned completely worldwide...

  • Yeah i agree, we should put bans on everything! we need the government involded in even more of our everyday lives....you know the average american isnt already controlled enough by our goverment. we should ban americans from having any say in anything...because the average american is an idiot and needs the government to babysit them. ban all commercial fishing cause we dont need the jobs or the food.

  • Never said ban commercial fishing, BAN LONGLINES, BAN Drift Nets. Those are the true killers of the ocean with ridiculous amounts of bycatch. Swords have been decimated for far too long, let the stock recover for God's sake! They used to be prolific in the NE, not anymore, wiped out. Let the stock recover and open the commercials to targeted stick boats and rod n reel. Besides, the recreational revenue generated for fishing pelagics far exceeds the commercial revenue from the industry.

  • If we had stuck with longlining the fishery wouldn't be in the shape it is in now. It is the draggers that are destroying our oceans. You want to do some research on what damage draggers vrs the longliners...it wasn't a couple of years after draggers came out that the fishing industry started to go downhill.

  • That's some crazy shit! I wish we had them sunning like that here in Florida.

  • When is the season in San Diego? I lived there a few years ago and I think it was arond oct I watched a boat pack out and was blown away by the size and quality of one night catch!

  • i come from a family of harpoon swordfishermen over on the east coast. harpooning's the only way to go!

  • GOOD FISH

  • where u fishing at nova scotia??

  • Southern California
