  • The Video starts out with the long gone Wellington tunnel which i used to love flooring my car through (tunnel echo sound).

  • One of the initial set of videos presented at the launching of Much Music... with Twisted Sisters :(

  • One of the initial set of videos presented at thew launching of Much Music... with Twisted Sisters :(

  • 80s new wave rules!

  • i saw them onstage in 1984 when they were little known, they were awesome at Le Spectrum.

  • I loved this tune back in the day. Still do, of course. The Box should have been more famous. Ahead of their time...

  • This band rocks and I miss them very much.... 8 ((

  • I love box, it awesome smell!

  • I grew up with Canadian bands, and these guys were certainly among my favourites as a kid. Samantha Taylor and Video Hits taught me well!!!

  • Genial!

  • He sure seems more self conscious in this video compared to later vids like Closer Together and Ordinary People

  • @unlikeanyotherhuman

They are great new-wave band but ......not from canuck land ;->>

  • ahhhh... Montreal.. the bands...the clubs ...the women...what can I say...THE BEST

  • ahhh... Montreal...the bands ...the clubs... the women... what can i say... the best

  • I saw them at the spectrum in 86 . good times

  • I saw the Box open for the Spoons back in the day - there's a dated Canadian reference!

One of my favorite songs by the Box is "Live on TV" - a song that, today, seems to be about 9/11.

  • I saw The Box on Canada Day In Ottawa after this c.d was released (88-91) around there. They played outside and they sounded the best I've ever heard outside (loud and clear). They also played the songs as we had heard them on radio or c.d , with a little adlib. It was a great set, one I haven't forgot nor will. If u love the late 80's rock sound from Canada, you'll enjoy their songs!!!

  • If you like this song like I used to, skip the video. It'll just ruin it for ya. Good God, there was never a year when an orange prison jump suit looked good, even in the damned 80's.

  • He looks really awkward in this video. I guess its kind of complicated for him though because at the time he didn't know English, he had to memorize a song in a language he didn't know.

  • @Yoofokneeum - Lol at Yoo and Rememberthe80's. These bands were basically INVENTING music video's! MUCH Music/MTV had barely been on when they were working out early production and trying to develop/expand on this new art form. Of course he looked uncomfortable...

  • Love this old tune but the video so sucks. The way he dances is so lame. It makes me laugh, but I will add it to my favorites for all my friends who love the 80's.

  • Honeymoon Suite just played a halloween party here in Calgary...same sound...same look....loved it...and was amazed at how many 20somethings were singing along to the songs...just goes to show...timeless :)

  • should have been bigger than they were.

  • great Band, I cannot Find There Break Through Hit "Live On TV",...Awsome Tune Ahead of Their time,

  • I love the box

  • pray on ! i love Montreal

  • Man, I totally, totally forgot how good The Box was.

  • Let us not forget the Spoons, and Lawrence (AKA Larry) Gowan,

  • i miss Montreal!

  • This song is what got me into the box ! great band and wish that i could see them tour again.

  • @johnnys55s ..i`ll join you...lol...love the band,from MONTREAL?

  • the best from montreal canada, i used to look at that guy sitting on bench waiting for nothing, thinking, this a thinking man,,,i met him high and he has the soul,,,the closer manhe made us together, a man without hat avec Fiori

  • reminds me of gary numan cars video!!!!

  • This is probably the best song and video ever !

  • I saw these guys back in '84, thereabouts with "The Spoons" doing a gig in Edmonton. Can't remember the venue though. Bought "The Box" right away. Also have "All The Time, All The Time, All The Time" somewhere. They'll be in a box somewhere coz who uses casette tapes anymore? Wow. More that 20 yrs. Eeek.

  • i do not understand why this band named themselves after a female body part

  • I'm not sure either but I like the idea better than say...The Cocks!

  • it might be closer to the truth though

  • mullet girl ftw!

  • IF ANYBODY HAS ANY BOX ALBUMS UP TO CLOSER TOGETHER A.K.A the box, all the time all the time al the time... please contact me

  • available at HMV. a Re-edition has been done last year

  • is the tunnel they're driving out of in the beginning the ville marie expressway downtown montreal?

  • lead looks/dances like Napoleon Dynamite

    awesome

  • thanks so much for putting this on. I have been looking for this since youtube started. Canadian New Wave was so much better than US stuff.

  • But not as good as British New Wave! No offense.

  • No! Talk Talk and Human League were okay too! :-)

  • Oh yeah, HL had more than one popular song.

  • Agreed. Im only 16 and i love canadian new wave. the Box, Men without Hats, Strange Adavance, Martha and the Muffins, The payolas, Frozen Ghost, Honeymoon Suite..... I can continue.

  • Frozen Ghost and Honeymoon Suite are rock bands. The Suite is still making music though it has a different sound than their previous works. On the other hand the Canadian band Platinum Blonde did have a rock sound but they leaned more towards New Wave.

  • @xPanxheadx Please do! Im trying to find more Canaidian New wave; Ive heard everyone you just mentioned except for frozen ghost who I am checking out now :)

  • @xootheblackpurloox Blue Peter were great, too. Walk on Past.

  • @xootheblackpurloox Blue Peter were great, too. Don't Walk Past is their great tune.

  • The Box are about to release a new album, don't miss it ! go on their website

  • I am an expat Canadian who has lived in Australia for 20 years. My6 wife and I rediscovered The Box this week on You Tube. Thanks guys!

  • Gonna seem like a weired question, but your not from the Montreal area are you? Last name Evans?

  • this is obviously one of his earliest, look, he's just a kid. good to hear again-reminds me of the summers at my cottage on georgian bay in callingwood.

  • I totally forgot about this song, thank u for posting.

  • Grew up listening to these guys on Much Music. Back when they used to play music videos. The singer kind of looks like Mahmoud Ahmedinejad

  • I'm 18, just discovered the box...pretty sweet. walk away is my fave

  • Hahahahaha!!! Same here! I am 18, and the first time I heard these guys was on Friday... while I was at the Orthodontist. "Closer Together" was playing on Much More Music... I cannot believe the Lead Singer used to be a member of Men Without Hats <-- the guys who did the Safety Dance.

  • and Sass Jordan the backup singer!

  • Sass Jordan was a backup singer for the Men Without Hats?!? I did not know that lol

  • lol not that I know..of the Box

  • I've been looking for what seems like forever for this classic Box tune...it's my favorite song from them..thx very much for finding this and posting it..

  • True Classic! One of the best BOX tunes ever!
