Those characters on the blade, 割込, simply mean 'laminated'.
Like you say, school kids used to carry this in their pockets and pencil cases to sharpen their pencils in class. My grandfather still used it to sharpen pencils until he died in '92. It was still ok to take and use this knife in elementary schools back in the 80's, but I think it would cause a big problem now. Nowadays police can confiscate a knife like this if one carries it without explicit purpose.
After 'Sword Master Miyamoto Musashi' there is a final character. I am afraid that I have not been able to translate this one at all. It is written in a style unlike the rest of the characters and the way it was written in is very curly.
I'll try to have another go at the final character later on. I need to clear my mind a bit and then look at it again and see if that helps.
In the meantime, I hope that I have helped a little and that you're a little closer to knowing what is written there.

That isn't really a slipjoint. A slipjoint would be a Swiss Army Knife. I'm not completely sure of this but I think that's a friction folder.

Hi,
I studied Japanese for a few years, but I am pretty bad at it and haven't done any in a long time.
After working away on this for a little while, I have worked out that the characters on the knife read something like the following:
At the top there are four characters written in a square layout. Boringly, this translates as 'registered trademark'.
The next six characters below the four in the square say 'Sword Master Miyamoto Musashi'.
Continued below....

You're very welcome. It was good to get a chance to use some of my Japanese again! Glad that I was able to be of service.
Thank you for taking the time and effort to put this video up in the first place.
