Listen, I'm catholic. The catholic church says catholic women are not to take birth control. Thousands, and that's a light number do. Catholics are not to divorce. Hundreds of thousands are. The bishop of Ft. Wayne-South Bend is a very awesome and outspoken bishop. Bishop John D'Arcy has been very outspoken to the faithful of Northeast Indiana about the Obama administration. Indeed - all protests MUST be organized through the students, as private individuals can (and will be) removed from the campus. We don't want a scene of police dragging faithful Catholics off - that would look very bad.
I'm from the UK so I can't do anything. However, I think it is for all Catholics around the world, be they Notre Dame Students or not, to bring to public attention this act of Judas. Sending emails or calling the University, along with the diocese, may prove effective.

Even Saddam Hussein did not rip little babies apart piece by piece. He got close, but did not actually do that. Would ND have invited HIM to speak? But that is what Obama supports and spreads. Abortion is the rupping apart piece by piece of little innocent babies. I want to vomit! And now ND will HONOR him? ND is not Catholic and hasn't been for quite some time.

While I am not Catholic,
it just doesn't seem to make sense to me, that Notre Dame would invite anyone to speak on their campus who maintain that it is ok for women to "choose" the killing of their unborn.
Further,
this person additionally supports "late-termed" abortions, which basically kills live babies who survive an "abortion"

And the issue is one of obedience - have you not read the 2004 USCCB guidelines?

as a Notre Dame student, I can tell you that the overwhelming sentiment on campus is that we understand that this is about 'respecting the office, not the person." also, nobody here is condoning his few political stances that are contrary to the Church's teaching, but rather, we are interested in hearing a wise, educated man speak to the future of America.

St. Paul was not afraid and did not hesitate to call out problems and take them head on. this is a prominent catholic university. obama should not be allowed to speak here, let alone receive an honorary degree. take a stand, stop negotiating values. pray that obama changes. i hope that obama converts

The moment Fr Jenkins and the rest of the ND officials start showing a single shred of respect for the Bishops' ORDERS to American Catholics (especially priests) we'll get right on that.
Fr. Jenkins started with the lack of respect - to God, His Mother, the unborn and simple human principles.

I was appalled and enraged by the announcement.of the address & degree - I even fired off an email AND called Fr. Jenkins advising I'd be there 05/17 to protest. Changed my mind after reading Catholicvote - they will be there to pray and I will be with them. Getting concerned - some seem to be saying they intend to keep President Obama, once he arrives in South Bend, from ever reaching the Campus. - probably by doing massive a human roadblock, but the Secret Service doesn't play around.

This would be very foolish - that would be illegal and dangerous. We discourage anyone from behaving in an illegal or dangerous manner, and certainly always behaving in a manner which shows - politely - that we are offended with Notre Dame for inviting this anti-Catholic man to be honored.

The bishop of Ft. Wayne-South Bend is a very awesome and outspoken bishop. Bishop John D'Arcy has been very outspoken to the faithful of Northeast Indiana about the Obama administration. I've happened to talk to him personally a few times. He's a wonderful shepard and teacher. This isn't his first time that he's been in conflict with the University of Notre Dame.

I am a Canadian Catholic studying for the priesthood when I see stuff like this it saddens me but unfortunately such is the case with our "Catholic" universities they are basically Catholic in name only. I know that is the Case for Saint Thomas More which is the University I went to. The once brought in a wicken to get a talk.

Indeed - all protests MUST be organized through the students, as private individuals can (and will be) removed from the campus. We don't want a scene of police dragging faithful Catholics off - that would look very bad.

I'm from the UK so I can't do anything. However, I think it is for all Catholics around the world, be they Notre Dame Students or not, to bring to public attention this act of Judas. Sending emails or calling the University, along with the diocese, may prove effective.

Okay. The reason why I make the request is because I'm under the impression that Notre Dame may be a Jesuit university, or at least have Jesuit influences.
Although they didn't use to be, I find they make up the biggest CINO heretics attacking the the Church from within.
Iv'e never met an orthodox Jesuit student or priest. Ever.

ND is run by the Holy Cross order, I believe. I think there are many faithful and holy priests there. But then there are those like Fr. Jenkins, who is neither.
