I love the 1950s. The Cold War,Coca-Cola,Indian Motorcycles,Elvis,Rockabilly,Atomic Bombs,Fallout shelter,Radiation Bubble Gum,Greasers,racing,white tshirt & cuff blue jeans. Now, is crap.
I remember the vacuum tube testers at the store. You had to read the chart to see which tube you had.. plug it in..if it showed'bad',,you just bought a new tube right there in the store...
Born in 54'. I remember kidnergarten in 59'. Brooklyn. going to a 'burger joint' on sunday with mom. Movies..50 cents got you a movie, popcorn & coke. You would go outside and play until suppertime...parents didn't need to worry about you.. Drive out to the country and go to a 'dairy queen...get a banana split for 50 cents... That was Americana... Watch Ed Sullican and Bonanza and heve friends over to watch TV... A different world.. The late 60' changed all that.
Great Commentary !! I was born in '63 . . I wish it would have been '43 instead . . smile . . I miss the simpler times . . now days is just plain scary . .
I miss almost everything about the 50s except for "no air conditioning".....only restaurants, bars and a few other places had it. I can remember taking family trips out to the midwest in july and august, driving about 900 miles each way with NO AIR CONDITIONING. It was just awful. I'm sure we must have been clinically sick from the heat

@MetaKnight964
Today in China, they are still in Communism,stronger economy & stronger military then ours. And we Americans live of the Republic.

@royaladam Actually China has become more capitalist in recent years, especially Hong Kong.

@MetaKnight964 actually Hong Kong was always capitalist as a colony of the British before 1997
