  • Hey Barry, you all did a very great job with this album!! Great songs and production. My favourite track from the album was "Play with power". But this ballad is very nice too. The songs remind me of good times in music history.

  • @Saiova thanks, Play with Power is the best track in my opinion and should have been the first single. If the label released it first instead of a ballad the album would have had a lot more traction..

  • Just saw this. My name is Barry Harris. I engineered and co-produced this album with the band.

Haven't seen this in twenty five years. Good memories.

  • Wow, I used to play this song in our band at our church youth group all the time back in 85-87!!!. I still sing it to my kids today! what a song. Sad to hear that the lead singer passed away. Great voice. Still an amazing song@!!!!!

  • This was my wedding song!!!! I met my husband outside of L'Amours after going to see them whenever they played Scott made me a huge Pink Floyd fan too. Too bad they never made it big. The 80's were great.

  • Scott Metaxas is my uncle. I love you uncle scott, haha love the hairr.Miss yu

  • great band i saw many many times back in the club days of the 80's..great voice..great musicians.....never made it big but gave me great memories..sorry to hear about dean..he will be missed

  • great soul this music has!!!

  • Brings me back to the time I ran my bike into Dean's car by accident... He was such as an inspiration to an then starting musician with his first band. Dean will forever be missed. He was a mentor & a friend... RIP my brother...

  • Ted Poley the drummer is a Jew

  • @J9black thanks for the info lol

  • That's really sad. RIP Dean. with all of our love. Blessed Be.

  • Anyone know where I can buy this, I can't find my vinyl record!! Loved these guys!

  • this is why i love youtube. i am still finding incredible new (to me) music from one of the greatest musical decades of all time. Does anyone know if these guys had a "Christian" background? considering their name and some of the song content, makes me think so. it doesn't really matter, i'm just interested. please send me a reply if you know.

  • @coolnegative if your keyboard players in those days was related to the faith and is believed that most members of his lyrics have some Christianity.

  • Got to spend some time with Prophet in its early days... I remember Scotts brother Bobby doing sound, while alan anderson took care of just about everything for these very gifted musicians who never hoked up with the right people at the right time ...very sad as so many with much less talent have made a good living . and lets not forget about Phyliss !!!! everyones a rock star !!

  • These Prohet videos bring back some of the best memories I have of when I was young. THis was without a doubt the best and most talented band that never got a real shot. I recently heard Scott play in a band called Tres hombres. Had a great time. Its not Prophet or Edgar Cayce but they sound good do all the classics and was great to see Scott playing and singing. He is so damn talented and a really good guy. Go check them out next week at headliners at the Jersey SHore.

  • he was a personal friend of mine and...i didn't know there was a video i had his cd...drugs take the greatest, most talented away....miss you rockstar <3

  • RIP Dean you will be missed and thank you for the music memories.

  • A friend in work says to me "Hey man, do you remember your wedding song from 1994? I loved that song, who was that band?" I go Prophet with the amazingly talented Dean Fasano on vocs. Then I go straight here and learn of this tragic news. As usual this is the kind of news I alway here. Meanwhile, the un-talented get rich (by sheer luck), release crap (or ripped off Prophet tunes) get richer (are you listening Jon). My sympathy goes out to Dean's family. He will be missed in my household.

  • sorry for your loss, he will be missed as a father, friend and musician....Rich Moses

  • I was a huge PROPHET fan in the early 80's. Saw them countless times @ The Final Exam" in Randolph, & @ "The Nook" as well. They were an awesome band & did not get the recognition they deserved. I had a copy of their first album. But a friend melted it :-(

I am sorry to hear of Dean's passing. He was a true talent!!

  • This song was very popular in Oklahoma City in the Mid-Late 1980s because a Christian radio station played it over and over, not knowing they are not a Christian Rock Band. It's an ambiguious song, what we called a "God-girlfriend" song. You can sing to your girlfriend/boyfriend, or God. Either way. In fact, many of the songs on this album can be taken as "Christian", I think!

  • Great Band I was in jersey in the 80's Got to meet the band, saw them often and got a lot of great pictures of them on stage. i remember Ken Dubman backstage fanning himself with a record cover say Rock and roll is a Beeotch As i presented a stack of photos I took of the band. I still have them and Listen to the CD's often . First time i walked into the Nook in Hackettstown NJ they were Playing Kansas Mysteries and Mayhem To the letter! incredible!!! I'll never forget those days.

  • 懐かしいうえに、動いてるの初めて見た、やっぱいい曲だわ。

  • I met Dean back in the late 80's. He was such a nice guy. Very sweet. I was a big BonJovi fan at the time and he told me all about him and Richie. I remember feeling so lucky that I knew RS best friend! LOL! I really don't understand why he wasn't discoverd. He was so gifted. I am so sad to hear about his passing. RIP my dear friend. The heavenly angels band rocks!

  • This band was way ahead of the curve. I loved it in '85 and still love it today.

R.I.P. Dean. Thanks for the awesome vox.

  • Excellent song. Fasano has a great voice. Scott Metaxas and Prophet kick ass.

  • RIP..love this song..

  • R.I.P. dad

  • Great song, great band. I am really blessed. Thank God for these guys.

  • It´s christmas. and Iam very, very sad, I could´t stop crying....I got so many cd´d of him at home. a gerat singer. man I miis you so....bye Dean I hope you are in heaven now. give me a sign.

    Sven

  • This song and video was a favorite of mine back in 1985. I favorited this video several weeks ago, but didn't watch it until today, for the first time in 24 years.

Saw the news of Dean Fasano's death. I am sad.

This song should have been a big hit here in the states back in the mid 80's. More people should know that Dean Fasano has passed away. More should be in mourning.

I wish I had a chance to tell him how much I love this song and how much it means to me.

    R.I.P. Dean Fasano.

  • R.I.P

  • Dean..RIP buddy...I miss you.

  • RIP Dean Fasano, his music has meant so much too me... great, great singer, never got the respect he deserved...

  • RiP DAD

  • Rest In Peace Dean Fasano, thank you for your music & the memories !

  • Great singer ... sad story ... RIP man

  • Where is Dean Fasano... He should have made millions

  • The band made the right choice to replace Dean with Russell. He could sing circles around Fasano.

  • Sadly, Dean passed away this morning....very sad...

  • @1111smk

    Hello 1111smk.

Is this information correct? What happened? I didn't know ...That's really sad!!!

This is very sad for the music and the fans.

Rest in Peace Dean Fasano! Thanks for the music!!

    Willba.

  • Yep... That's Ted Poley of Danger Danger on drums. I knew he was in Prophet before Danger Danger but never knew video proof existed until now... Awesome contribution "WillbaDissidente"

  • Dean Fasano ROCKS!!! I love his voice!

  • the 80's. so awesome.

  • wait a second! is that Ted Poley from Danger Danger?

  • From their best album self-titled Prophet (1985).

This album includes AOR gems like: Slow Down, Power Play, Street Secrets, Heart of the Night and Miles Away

  • Oh my goodness, being a Jersey Girl, trapped *L* in Texas, and having grown up in the 80's club scene (Studio One, Newark), this brings back memories .. thanks for posting a massive flashback *L*

  • Kenny D! Great

    Pat C

    call me...

  • What is the name of this album?? I have "Cycle Of The Moon" and "Recycled" but I don't have THIS one. Thanks for a blast from the L'amour days.

  • This Album was self titled and is very hard to find. It is by far the best Prophet CD. I paid $30 for it on EBAY

  • Deano looking very Jacksons at the end with the pose from their Torture Video never noticed before!

  • Check out some more sounds from the Jersey shore, the Mr Reality video In My Yard!

  • Poley At The Drums!!!

  • Legend Art Stock has died at 74

  • you can also see Mark Hoffman in a youtube clip entitled "virgin vinyl" performing "Dream On" with Dean Summers both orig from the NJ orig band Race

  • the original lead singer of Prophet is Mark Hoffman, you can see him in the band RACE, type Race Marc Hoffman

  • Dean Fasano was a far better talent than Bonjovi, shame he just didn't get the break

  • Yeah, except that you're wrong.

  • It was the 80s, video was still in its infancy. Let me tell ya, though, this song saved my marriage. When my wife and I had been married for 2 years we were having a hard time and split up. 2 weeks later I took my cassette player and played her THIS song. We fell into each other's arms, and 22 years and 2 children later are going strong. Listen to the lyrics, man, they're amazing. Anyone know where I can get this CD? I'd love to get it for my wife for Christmas.

  • Wow, really!!! nice love story!!!

  • Amazing , Can;t believe someone posted "Prophet" Kool , Kool !

  • Great post!Thanks...

  • I always thought CYCLE OF THE MOON was their only record.

  • Same here. I still have Cycle of the Moon on CD after all this time.

  • No, there were a couple others. This was the first album, then Russell Arcara Returned to the band after a stint in 'Surgin'. Then, there came Cycle of The oon. Later was 'Recycled'. Russell is still performing in Jersey with Steve De Acutius and Billy Orrico

  • Dean is awesome!!!!!!!!

  • Wonderful song great looking band

  • Kenny & Scott from Prophet also had a cover band called Edgar Cayce, they use to pack Art Stock's Playpen and his other club the Birchhill all the time!

  • wow! awesome video. Ted Poley rocks!! I wish music these days were like in the good old days. I miss all these bands and wish that the genre would come back.

  • Jeez I miss these days.

  • I'm with Carrtun--- I was feeling nostalgic and couldn't get the tune out of my head so I googled it and here I am. God, I LOVE YOUTUBE!!!

  • I have always loved this group/song! I was just feeling nostalgic and punched it into search on the internet and here I am. Love it still!

  • wow these guys rock

  • Lame

  • i love this video!!!

  • Hey Dean...it's me Dr. Bob..we either live on our past laurels or move ahead to better stuff.Tony Bon G. told our band that all the time.(that was 1968)If you're really ready...call Richie and lets go....what are you waiting for? You know damn well it'll work with our harmonies.Don't think...lets go!

  • I remember seeing them when I was in High school at a bar in Staten Island called Octobers (walker Street). They kicked arse. Ken is a great guitarist. I saw them again off of route 35 somewhere years later. Sails of chiron by the scorpions to a tee. AC/DC too. Never quite got into their solo prophet stuff, heard it on DHA a few times early on. Saw them with Ken's younger brother on guitar once too. Ahhh memories...

  • the original Lead singer, Mark Hoffman left Prophet to form RACE and they just posted 2 video's on youtube featuring Mark performing with RACE Live, just after he left Prophet Check out : RACE Cant Let You Go

    and RACE In A Flash

  • That's CRAZY to see Ted Poley on the drums after seeing him sing with Danger Danger so many times.

  • Ted started off as a drummer! I have pictures of him in the band Legend playing those Staccato Drums, ones that looked like Horns! LOL!!!

  • kenny dubman is my uncle and he is still playing gigs so go see him.

he is awsome cheek him out

  • Where is he playing now? I used to take lessons with him, in the early 90's

  • he is playing in or near titon falls nj cuz he lives there

  • Cool! I'd really like to hear him play again.

  • Anyone from jersey remember Close Encounters the heavy metal club off route 35.

These guys would put on a hell of a show.

    I'd say about 86 ish.

Kenny the lead guitarist would do Eruption to a T. Scott the bass player did an excellent pink floyd set.

    great band great club.

    those were the days

  • Kenny Dubman was guitarist. Russell Acara was lead singer. I saw them when they were known as Prophet in a club in west orange, nj around 1988-89. Thet played with a band named Tour De Force. Both bands were awesome!

  • ted polley de danger danger es el bateria

  • This is and was the best cover band ever! Their own stuff is so great! I never missed them at the pony. I have their first three albums and I bought them in Los Angeles. These guys are the real deal. Check out Edgar Casey and you get the better part of Prophet..class act...and huge talent!!

  • Anyone know where I can download an MP3 of this song? This is a great tune.

  • Edgar i mean

  • Wdgar Cayce is playing at Bar A in Belmar Friday Jan 18. go see them

  • Ha ha. Ted Poley poundin the skins. This is cool.

  • Prophet was such a great band. Does anyone have the first LP on cd?

  • sorry hun I have theyre first album but only on vinyl--if ya ever find it on CD omg---PLEASE let me know..kk

  • I remember picking up the s/t Prophet LP after they go a rave 9/10 or 10/10 review in 'Metal Forces'. Not what I listen to too much these days but these guys were solid as far as that whole AOR/pomp Styx/Journey/latter day Kansas vibe goes. I almost prefer their 3rd and last album 'Recycled' which was much more guitar oriented than the debut or COTMoon. R.I.P, Joe Z.

  • All you EDGAR CAYCE FANS.. . they are playing with TT QUICK on Friday November 23rd 2007 at the Starland Ballroom in Sayerville, NJ. A blast from the past-don't want to miss it! Hope they'll play Fairies Wear Boots. . .

  • Great band, too bad nobody's ever heard of 'em. I have their first album, and I didn't even know they had a second one. So many excellent bands out there that never made it big but deserved to.

  • My All Time Favorite Song!! I Even Have 2 Copies Of The CD Just In Case!

  • to bad the keyboardist passed, Joe...a good guy..

  • EXCELENT EXCELENT EXCELENT!!!

  • I was Music Director at a CHR station when this song first came out. We added it and it got great response from our listeners. The music company wasn't pushing it at all. I think if they would have tried even a little, this could have been a major hit. As it was, I think there were maybe 5 CHR stations on this in the whole country.

It never crossed my mind back then (since I was quite the heathen), but now I'm wondering if they are Christians, or if they are singing about Jesus?!

  • Used to see these guys every week back in my College days. No bar/cover band was better. I only wish they had made it further with they're own music! Musically, it's hard to understand why they didn't!

  • this music is so awesome, ive been lookin for their album but i cant find it anywhere

  • Wow, talk about an obscure video! Never even knew this existed. I bought the first Prophet album after reading a rave review in 'Metal Forces'. One of the top AOR bands of the 80's. R.I.P., Joe Z.

  • If you Prophet fans are interested in seeing a cover band that takes on the heavy duty covers Prophet used to do, you

should get yourself to a Virgin Vinyl show. VV is the modern day Prophet, taking on songs like Foreplay/Long Time, Funeral/Love Lies Bleeding, Roundabout, etc...flawless performances: Google Virgin Vinyl and click Virgin Vinyl Rocks link for performance dates

  • I'm looking for a 80's Metal Band that was real big in Japan called DIARY if anyone has anything on this band PLEASE let me know where to find it Thanks and ROCK ON

  • acabo de descubrir a esta banda y me encanta me recuerda bastante a mi grupo preferido que es ASIA

  • Beautiful ballad from their superb first record. One of

the best from 85.street secrets, powerplay, away from you, slow down are just great songs. This band had it

    all.Fantastic musicians,songs and great melodies.

  • I remember Prophet from the very start. Scott and Joe were originally in a band called Icarian and then Tom Fullers Rock City, during that time, they had an amazing singer named Marc Hoffman, who should get a ton of credit, because not was he an amazing singer (perfect pitch) and Mark put together Prophet w Scott and Joe, was orig singer/fromtman, and created Prophets rich harmony sound

  • Mark left the band because he got frustrasted, and wanted to write and record originals, which the band later realized they needed to do as well,

if they wanted to get a record deal.

  • Marc teamed up with this awesome guitarist, Dean Summers (he and marc played together in high school bands) and they created the original band, RACE, with keyboardist Adam Emanuel (Scotts cousin) and Bob Butterfield (also ex Prophet drummer, who nobody mentioned) In my humble opinion Marc was the best singer out of all of them.

  • In the early days, Mark worked devloped the Prophet sound & perfected the vocals, when they performed live performances of Bohemion Rhapsaday, Totos "Goodbye Girl", Starships "Jane" and vocals just like Boston, Journey, Styx, (come sail away-) Mark sang them all perfectly. Prophet was absolutely the best cover band out there, before they started writing original songs

  • Is this the Prophet from the NY club scene from 1980-1984? They used to play Detroit's in Port Chester with Zebra

  • yes it is

  • These guys were really big in Japan as well as Neptune.

  • buena banda mucha melodia y onda

  • Awesome song - loved this album. I always likes the stuff with Russel Acara (sp?) but I always went back to this one. Sorry to hear about Jow Zujkowski...anyone know how he died?

  • suicide

  • Ted Poley Rocks!

  • Prophet ruled the New Jersey circuit in the mid 80's.

I have many great 35mm pictures of the band including Joe. I was hoping one day to give some photos to Kenny and Scott if they want them.

  • PROPHET RULES!!!!

  • the best kept US rock secret-PROPHET!!

  • HOLY SNIKEEZ!! Where did you get this?? I only caught the tail end of this video back in the day. Yeah, it was a bit sappy and all, but I loved it..I immediately went looking for the record and they had it at Tower. I wasn't even into hair metal, was a strict new wave/alternative/mod fan, but this was one of my guilty pleasures. It's SOOOO good to see this again...THANKS!!! YOU ROCK!!

  • WOW, I can't beleive that I came across this video. This is and has been one of my favorite bands of all time. I can't beleive that Edgar Casey is playing out again. I would have LOVED to see them. NJmetalgirl, is there a way to find out when they are playing?

  • I remember these guys playing at the "Tiger's Tale Lounge", "Arrow Lounge", "Play Pen", "Goose and Ganter" and other Jersey Joints. In the early 80's, they did rock to songs by Rush, Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, etc.; so this wimpy Journey/REO song video is quite depressing and explains why they never made it big time. "Prophet" did bring a lot of fun to us during those high school dope days. Thanks for the memories.

  • In case you're interested . . . Edgar Cayce is playing at Centro Nightclub in South Amboy on March 9th 2007.

  • Dammit, i hope they play again since i missed it.

  • They said that they wouldn't be playing out until after the summer. Ken Dubman is the captain of a boat and is unavailable in the spring/summer . . . If I hear about any gig dates, I'll post a note on this site. Rock on, my friend.

  • can anybody tell me what happen to Joe Zujkowski? We grew up together in the same town in New jersey thanks

  • Joe Zujkowski passed away a number of years ago.

    Sorry

  • It's sad to hear Joe passed. I have many photos of him playing various clubs in New Jersey. One night I requested Karn Evil 9 by ELP and Joe and Prophet played it note for note to my amazement.

  • wow ted poley from danger danger on drums!!!

  • Amazing to see a Prophet video. Used to see their alter ego-Edgar Cayce at the PlayPen every Wednesday and at the BirchHill every Friday night. Saw Prophet fronted by Russell Arcara at the NYC Cat Club in '90. They made the 80's metal amazing and so memorable that some of us still get hot thinking about it. LOVED SCOTT METAXAS

  • el album de prophet junto al de fortune y arcangel, los tres mejores discos del aor de los 80s,esta cancion concretamente me recuerda a asia

  • The first Prophet album is superb. Kansas meets Journey. Deen also played in a band called Message prior to Prophet, with Richie Sambora. Strange how the worm turns.

  • For as 80's as this video is, their first album really showed some potenital. Restraint, even. They really blew it, these guys. A real shame.

  • Don't think they blew it at all. They were at the mercy of their labels (and their lack of support). Saw them a couple times as Edgar Cayce in '87. Great musicians. Best cover band I ever saw - BY FAR!

  • The label make Kenny wear that cross?

  • +10000000. I have never seen a cover band as good as Edgar Cayce. They did VH, Ozzy, Queensryche, Priest, SOundgarden with ease and Kenny would go up and rip Voodoo Child and Mr Scary then pull out some SRV. Once me and some friends went and saw Steve Morse at the old Club Bene and we were soo blown away. But we went to the Birch Hill afterwards thinking that anything would be a letdown after Morse. HAHA, Kenny still sounded awesome, he can hang with any guitar player.

  • This band kicked ass... Dean is a great guy. I too played in the Jersey circut with a band called Emanon. I had the honor in opening up for them to promote that record. THis bad was great for thier time...

  • What the F#$CK. Bill and Ted's Excrement Adventure!!!

  • you should probably learn to listen before you speak. You'll find lots of great music that way.

  • Wow! This is Propet before my time. The first time I saw them was in 1988 at the Birch hill.I ended up playing in band With Russel and Kenny and did some recording with Dean Fasano. They are all great Musicians.

    Thanks Steve

  • Prophet

  • Thanks for your comments Steve! It's nice to hear it from you. Must be wounderful play with those guys, you must be a great musican too. I didn't know that Dean Fasano had a band after quit Prophet.

  • WOW, this is before Cycle Of The Moon right? What is this from?

  • Thanks for your comment! Yes, this was before Cicle of the Moon (released in 1988 with a new line-up). This song is from the "Prophet" album, 1985.
