My dad is the current director of the dayton airport. The other director almost lost his job because of this. Jim could have been saved but the fire trucks were not put near the run way because the director ordered them to b put in the garradge. it took 20 minutes for the trucks to get to the plane because they had to go through the crowd because the station and were the plane crashed was in between the crowd. i can gurentee tht my dad will never let this happen to any one else at his air show.
I was over at the b-25 when I saw the smoke, I thought it was part of the act until everybody turned around. It was quite scary especially for me seeing an airshow accident for the first time. I was dissapointed and worried for him
OMG OMG I WAS THERE TO SEE IT WITH MY VERY EYES!!! AT FIRST I WAS LIKE WTF HAPPENED? THEN I SAW SMOKE THEN I SAW A BLACKHAWK FLYING TO THE CRASH SITE AND YE, THEY CANCELLED THE REST OF THE AIRSHOW AFTER THAT, AND THE THUNDERBIRDS WAS BOUT TO FLY, I WAS BUMMED BUT IT IS SOOO EPICC, THE STUNT PLANE JUST WENT INTO THE GROUND, BOOM, SMOKE...THAT WAS ONE OF THE BEST PILOTS MAN HE WON SO MANY MEDALS AND TROPHIES IT WAS SO SAD, AND I SAW THE CRASH WHEN I WAS AT THE DOORWAY OF A SOVIET AIRLINER. R.I.P.
I was at the air show as well. They did a prayer for him over the speaker system, and we found out later that evening he had died on the news from our hotel room.
Didn't know you Jim, but I enjoyed watching you fly. RIP.
RIP Jim. I had seen him many times and was lucky enough to shake his hand and get his autograph. My heart sank when I found out about this. He was a great pilot and vet. You will be missed
Rob Reider knows most of these guys personally. He has to keep a cool head to keep the crowd calm in the rare case that something terrible like this happens. He's a great announcer, the best in the biz.
Sad, RIP. At least they learned something from the crash they didn't fly as low this year at the Dayton Airshow 2008. Also the son got a 80,000 dollar grant which have been gathered by donation to use for his education although its poor substitute for the loss of his father, it is still a nice gesture. For the airshow performers keep flying and be save.
9/11 INSIDE JOB, BUSH blew up tiwn towers not jet fuel...makeing 20k sucks flying the little plane...the salaries do go up after first year and becoming a captain...its only a small plane but a very important plane if oyur on it...isnt it funny how no families showed up at klax on 9/11...it was a government operation with aliases...thats why
man this is heart breaking. jim was one of the best i ever saw. loved to watch him perform. my condolences to his family and loved ones. RIP JIM. i guess there is a masters of disasters reunion going on somewhere.;-)

Today, July 28, 2008 marks one year since Jim's untimely passing. He always took the time for his younger fans.
We miss you Jim, Jimmy and Bobby. Blue skies forever and Semper Fi Jim!
