Having recovered from anorexia after going on Paxil, I can say there is hope..I am by no means cured, I still over exercise and watch everything I eat but it does not consume my every waking minute.....Life does now....please get help...

it's not just about being thin for them. it's about being in control of something. you can ask just about any anorexic and a huge percentage of them will tell you that it wasnt necessarily their weight that bothered them. alot of the time it was circumstances in their lives that drove them to extremes like this. my best friend has been stuggling with ED for four years now and is just now really recovering. dont judge these girls until you understand how they think.

it's not just about being thin for them. it's about being in control of something. you can ask just about any anorexic and a huge percentage of them will tell you that it wasnt necessarily their weight that bothered them. alot of the time it was circumstances in their lives that drove them to extremes like this. my best friend has been stuggling with ED for four years now and is just now really recovering. dont judge these girls until you understand how they think.

okay no anorexia is NOT a disease, nor is bulemia. this is a completely social disorder that involves nothing but people trying to be who they aren't look back in history and show me where people were starving themselves on purpose to look good. this is just a trend, not a disease...you cannot catch anorexia from someone. so stop calling it a disease like the girls can't help it.

You need to be educated more on the disorder before you can argue a clear rebuttal in the defense that it is "not a disease". Anorexia and bulemia are diseases that are brought on by psychological and social influences, but after the mental onset of an ED occurs the body is rendered by the disease. A disease is defined as a harmful condition that interfers with the body's natural function. So please before you offened these girls with your comments, make sure what you are saying is factual.

If you only knew what it's like to have an ED. i met this amazing girl at camp this year and she gave a very moving testimony. i feel so blessed to have heard it, its not something that i have seriously struggled with in the past...i would like if more people accepted anorexics as being human beings, because each and everyone of you beautiful girls are just as normal as the rest of the girls who don't have it.i love that some of you all are so upfront about it

you wanna know the most beautiful part of ana/mia? I started when i was 13. I am now 27 and still going. I have to keep 4 different size jeans in my closet cause i can't stay at one weight. After I eat, saliva automatically comes up in my throat waiting for me to throw up even if i don't want to. OOHH clearing your throat 15 times after you eat. So beautiful.
