The Reason Why We Bombed Japan had very little to do with Japan itself except for the loss of American Life.
The Yalta Conference was a complete disaster for the British And Americans it carved Europe in half one side Democatic and one Side Communism which would lead to the Cold War.
The Atomic Bomb was more than just a bomb it was a sign to Russia that we were gunna fuck around
If war is the only solution we´re asking the false questions
I don´t know who said this but I think it´s true and I really hope that something will never happen again. I don´t only mean Pearl Harbor or Hiroshima but also war in general. It´s so needless
Japan's Hirohito was not bad!! The tensions grew before. When British, and Dutch and French were coming nearer and nearer to the Empire of Japan. When the U.S.A. became allies, with these countries, America started going into Japanese water space.
whoever fought in ww2 earns my respect pretty much automatically (cept for the war criminals) so may God love shine upon your great grandfather in heaven. i hope he fought bravely for japan (i am sure he did, since the japanese were very disciplined). still i am american and i automatically should say that U.S.A. is better, BUT in some ways it is actually better but in some ways it's not
thanks for haveing some heart in you, your right about america, some it's good and some ways it's bad, like gun crimes and mafia, we have earthquakes nearly everyday not to mention volcaic activity all the time, and in ww2 we did have alot of courage and braver pilots, you had intelligent admirals and thoughtful soldiers
thank you. and it really brings a tear to my eye to think about how brave the japs were during world war 2 (by the way when i say japs i mean no disrespect at all, i just use it cause it's short). when i watch letters from iwo jima (love that movie by the way) it goes to show that every person has a heart, just some doesn't use it often. especially when the olypmic horse jumper colonel takes in the wounded american. he had the heart to give what medical supplies they had left to the american.
that is very honorable to have died on Iwo Jima. i hope he had his friend to help him die in peace. it's people like that i wish didn't die at all. i love to know what soldiers have been through during their war years. just to know these people is an honor in itself
There is no "good" and "evil". Only two factions. You can choose one of them and fight for it. Often you not even have a chance to choose. For example the japanese or american soliers. The normal solider never want war. But there was war and they fought both for their faction. We have one thing to remember. The history is written by the victorious. We will never now the complete real truth. That is i think about war.
America has nothing to do with Britain,Britain is more of Canadas concern,Seeing how Canada runs in the British Confederation,I say america stays outta Canada and Britians Actions if you do not want more soldier dead.
War is needed when our county has been threatened. what about 9/11 and the London bombings? We aren't just gonna sit around and take that shit!
its just after rememberence day and i'm proud that our British soldiers are fighting for our country! And war is full of innocent young soldiers that i am extremely proud of!!
thats one reason and you know what? how is getting into war and helping take outta a couple terrorist and getting some good oil in return so bad?. besides it's not like vietnam where the whole amount of people who have died in iraq for however long we have been in there would be the amount of soldiers dead in a month in vietnam. it's a small price to pay for such a major concern
I honestly don't hate the Japanese but I highly dislike the government and their actions. The government had deceived the Americans with the false peace agreement and deliberately attacked the pearl harbor where many American souls were lost. Although I am not Japanese, I TRULY feel sorry for the innocent victims in Hiroshima and Nagasaki where B-29 dropped the atomic bombs. The government and military are the ones that deserve to be bombed, not the poor civilians
guys please don't fight! think of all thos poor men who died there! they were heroes. if they didn't died in action but in the kitchen of a ship they are still heroes! think of that please! i live in holland. and i think of all thoes poor souls who died in the city of Rotterdam which was bombed 15th of May 1940. Just be thankfull those soldiers gave their lives. The world changed because of those brave soldiers!
Japanese were the good ones. Who else of not the Japanese? Amicans (or whatever they call themselves) blew up lots of things all over the world. They also came to europe to kill innocent and unarmed Germans.
dude...u gotta know ur history...back then we didnt go around blowing shit up...and in world war 2...THERE WERE shit load of ppl killed (innocent).. like in the blitzkreig when germany attacked poland...killed thousands from the bomb raids...the attack of england killed HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS and multiple coutnries such as america england and russia bombing the shit outta germany killed so many...but then again wut did the germans do...6 million dead jews and many others
second part (couldnt finish in the last comment) other then that the germans killed thousands when going to as i said before poland..denamrk..norway...france...italy..north america..greece (small parts) and also a huge chunk of russia all killing hundreds of thousands...let alone the japs taking over the phillipine island killing extremem amounts and also in china..creating their own concentration camps so everyone was killing everyone then....
Exactly, i'm actually glad that Hitlers reign is gone, and that the Japanese changed their ways of life after we nuked them. Techinally the Japanese attack was a faliure, The US Aircraft carriers where not in the habour at the time and out of the 8 ships that where sank 6 where raised and returned to service. Japan failed tbh.
that and the third wave never happened and that was supposed to take out the oil and fuel depots all over the island which that alone would have crippled us as well

They dropped the A-Bombs cause they had no alternate method. The only other way to have won the war would of been a bloody and brutal war of attricion for many many more years. So instead they used the weapon that would force japan to surrender. The nuke. It worked.
Uhm, yes, it is what I said.. it forced the war. However the attack was a failure, japan had a lot of casualties in the attack and no important war resource was destroyed. US drop two Atom bombs because the new president needed to end the war asap, plus I don't think they were aware of the amount of civilian casualties that atomic weapons would produce.
no the attack was a complete failure because the timing of the attack was planned out carefully i the japs had attacked a few hours later than they did moer us ships would of been exposed and if they had aimed to take out oil reserves and ammo reservations at the harbor it would of left the americans with less ships and supplies at midway which was the battle in which the signinficantly larger us fleet obliterated the japanese fleet
I thought that the Japanese had more ships and that the only reason that the Japanese lost was because the American Carriers were able to launch thier fighters??
I am not sure what you are asking? The Japanese lost the war because of Midway and the fact that we had more carriers.

The third wave would have hit the dry docks and stopped the navy from repairing the damagd ships. If the Japs had lauched that third stike, we might of lost the war.
yes thats exactly my point becuase it would have left the american fleet crippled at midway which was a turning point and where the japanese fleet was destroyed making them unable to help at okinowa and iwo jima
Maybe they failed mayby not. Some of the targets was there and some wasnt. If you had a chance to ask one of them behind the attack then they would say it was a succes. Actuaally they failed but in a strange way did they win.
K, I saw Pearl Harbor and did a little research. It hurts to think that one person could influence the dpiteful hate of a whole nation. What happened was catastrophic, becasue of one persons power, and America's ignorance. Then again, America sorta ddint have a choice... but if they had acted sooner... well either way, pray something like that never happens again... but hey, I love the music they play in the film!
This is the greatest music I have ever heard. The movie is great. I understand the Japanese Attack but how they did it was wrong and very cowardly and if I did not know the true history of both sides (America and Japanese) I would be extremely upset and have urged the US to use the Atom bomb on Kyoto and Tokyo. So sad.
What cowardly? The Japanase attack was a great move. They destroyed big part of the american amry in one go. When they would have gone for a heroic attack, it would have been much less effective. Great piece of music though, a bit to militairistic for me to fully appreciate it, it suchs most of the emotion out.
The fact that it was a surprise attack and shot at people who were running away and started scattering when anti aircraft and airplanes started shooting. They wanted no resistance and still thought that they were superior that America even when we started invading their islands.
the japanese never thought they were superior. they knew they would lose the war. there were also no records of them attacking civilian grounds. this surprise attack is a retaliation. we shut off their oil supply (a BIG sign of war, past AND present") because they were involved in an invasion of a country we had ties with. the japs took this as us declairing war with them, thus drawing first blood and attacking first.
actually correction a good bit of there officers thought they were superior...though very high ranking and intelligent officers such as yamamoto knew they didnt stand a chance against our industrial might
i liked pearl harbor but tora!tora!tora! was better because it was historically correct so if u wanna learn about pearl harbor watch tor tora tora but if u want a good movie with action watch this.
japan made the worst move attacking peral harbor the lost 1/3 of the pilots that day and the ammericans i have no clue but because of that the navy had a direct course to guadlconal* which had large runways for bombers to land and go to carriers which leeds us TO THE MUSROOM but for all the men that lost there lives in peral harbor I solut u ('.') (posted at 3:17 am) shit
Every one makes mistakes and the countries are no exception Japan made the mistake of attacking a western superpower with out fully getting enough information about that set enemy. but America made mistakes as well costing tons of lives in both sides of the war. like in pearl harbor ships was not ready at all even though japan was in the Nazi side and also those ships were in pacific sectors. so they did a desperate effort to stall them from invading Japan
could people who keep saying "japs" be a little more mature? the japanese and americans are allies now, and i think the term "japs" is a little outdated, plus its really biased and rude.
"could people who keep saying "japs" be a little more mature? the japanese and americans are allies now, and i think the term "japs" is a little outdated, plus its really biased and rude"
You happen to read the post that PROMPTED my use of the word "japs?" Or is it only politically correct to criticize Americans?
no i did not actually read your post, bt idc what the context is. i just dont like the word. if you used it the way RSBejmls said, like because you were too close to going over the character count, then i cant blame you. and i dont. bt i just dont like the word, period.
I don't see it as a derogatory use of the word. If you believe some people are using it to inflame others, that is just your perception. Many people like my grandparents used the term in short for Japanese. On the other hand, "nips" is a term you and I would both take exception to.
yeah i know, i said okay that makes sense already.
yes, many people arent using it to be offensive, bt like i already said, i just dont like the word. it just...idk. i dont like it. geeeeez why are people making a big deal out of it? I DONT LIEK IT, end of story and theres nothing more to it.
The decision to drop the atomic dombs saved hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of American and Japanese lives. Sorry if we were too "pussy" to send thousands of people to pointless death.
"pearl harbor was a tactical target to weaken the navy"
Too bad the "japs" couldn't keep to their schedule and attack AFTER declaring war, as they'd planned, instead of before as they did. Guess good typists ARE hard to find.
"but the cowardly americans responded with a pussy bomb they could have invaded japan and fight and die like real heroes"
Lose a million men and slaughter about 2 million civilians? No thanks. We'll leave that to the Japanese and German experts.
well... the fire bombing and burning down innocent civilians and what not is not somthing to really be proud of...we all had a huge share in civillian cassulties in that war and the fire bombing killed more people then both atom bombs combined...thats ALOT of people
"well... the fire bombing and burning down innocent civilians and what not is not somthing to really be proud of"
True. However neither was Japan's ignoring of the Geneva Convention. Or it's slaughter of over a million Chinese, Koreans, Indo-Chinese, etc.
So while we can deplore the loss of civilian life from US bombing, don't let it be forgoten that the objective of those bombings was to bring War to the makers of war. They should not live in comfort while inflicting misery.
Erő.eltökéltségség,harag,bátorság,bánat,hazaszeret,könny,önfeláldozás,öngyilkosság,dicsőség...Csak egy pár szó ami ennek a zenének a hallgatásakor eszembe jut...
true, but there are still many motion pictures like these that have historical accuracy, such as Saving Private Ryan. HISTORICAL films are supposed to have HISTORICAL accuracy.
A terrible historical film, but an excellent action film with an incredible score by Hans Zimmer. This piece in particular is my favourite - it really gives you impression that in it's sleeping state Pearl Harbour has no chance against the might of the Kido Butai, before combining the tragedy of both sides into an eeriely haunting main piece.
I immediatley knew it was Hans Zimmer! I think it looks a bit at a track of Gladiator. Great movie! I'm just a bit shocked everybody says know things like: Filthy japs. It was terrible, but Amerika did also bad things, like many countries! What happened just happenend, how stupid it can be. But don't blame all the Japs for this movie..
Same here when I was watching Pearl Haror in the theater. "The Might of Rome". Look it up here on youtube. That track sounds almost identical to the beginning of this one. They're both done by Hans.
The one I'm typing to right now--tylermannison--could be considered ignorant for using an outdated and frowned upon phrase. As for Americans being ignorant, that's up for individual opinion/debate.
war is just bad

Good stuff. Profound and all, but a lot of the weight was lifted by the spelling/grammar mistakes.
And I disagree. There are plenty of books out there written by people who fought for Hitler, including Erich Hartmann, Germany's most hardcore ace.

Then again, America sorta ddint have a choice... but if they had acted sooner... well either way, pray something like that never happens again... but hey, I love the music they play in the film!

its a great song but its so sad.what they did to the Japanese Americans was wrong but i understand why they did it.
TwilightZonesama 3 years ago
This is the greatest music I have ever heard. The movie is great. I understand the Japanese Attack but how they did it was wrong and very cowardly and if I did not know the true history of both sides (America and Japanese) I would be extremely upset and have urged the US to use the Atom bomb on Kyoto and Tokyo. So sad.
aurashg 3 years ago
What cowardly? The Japanase attack was a great move. They destroyed big part of the american amry in one go. When they would have gone for a heroic attack, it would have been much less effective. Great piece of music though, a bit to militairistic for me to fully appreciate it, it suchs most of the emotion out.
emperor1992 3 years ago
The fact that it was a surprise attack and shot at people who were running away and started scattering when anti aircraft and airplanes started shooting. They wanted no resistance and still thought that they were superior that America even when we started invading their islands.
aurashg 3 years ago 2
the japanese never thought they were superior. they knew they would lose the war. there were also no records of them attacking civilian grounds. this surprise attack is a retaliation. we shut off their oil supply (a BIG sign of war, past AND present") because they were involved in an invasion of a country we had ties with. the japs took this as us declairing war with them, thus drawing first blood and attacking first.
fearstrike11 3 years ago
actually correction a good bit of there officers thought they were superior...though very high ranking and intelligent officers such as yamamoto knew they didnt stand a chance against our industrial might

Every one makes mistakes and the countries are no exception Japan made the mistake of attacking a western superpower with out fully getting enough information about that set enemy. but America made mistakes as well costing tons of lives in both sides of the war. like in pearl harbor ships was not ready at all even though japan was in the Nazi side and also those ships were in pacific sectors. so they did a desperate effort to stall them from invading Japan
itsyohappybox 3 years ago
could people who keep saying "japs" be a little more mature? the japanese and americans are allies now, and i think the term "japs" is a little outdated, plus its really biased and rude.

You happen to read the post that PROMPTED my use of the word "japs?" Or is it only politically correct to criticize Americans?
dgonz26868 3 years ago
Japs, Japanese- all depends on how close one is to exceeding Y/T's 500 word limit.
RSBejmls 3 years ago 2
^^^500 character I mean.
RSBejmls 3 years ago
haha okay that makes sense. i guess.
SiReNssss 3 years ago
no i did not actually read your post, bt idc what the context is. i just dont like the word. if you used it the way RSBejmls said, like because you were too close to going over the character count, then i cant blame you. and i dont. bt i just dont like the word, period.
SiReNssss 3 years ago
I don't see it as a derogatory use of the word. If you believe some people are using it to inflame others, that is just your perception. Many people like my grandparents used the term in short for Japanese. On the other hand, "nips" is a term you and I would both take exception to.
orcstr8d 3 years ago
yeah i know, i said okay that makes sense already.
yes, many people arent using it to be offensive, bt like i already said, i just dont like the word. it just...idk. i dont like it. geeeeez why are people making a big deal out of it? I DONT LIEK IT, end of story and theres nothing more to it.

The decision to drop the atomic dombs saved hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of American and Japanese lives. Sorry if we were too "pussy" to send thousands of people to pointless death.
DongleProductions 3 years ago 2
"pearl harbor was a tactical target to weaken the navy"
Too bad the "japs" couldn't keep to their schedule and attack AFTER declaring war, as they'd planned, instead of before as they did. Guess good typists ARE hard to find.
"but the cowardly americans responded with a pussy bomb they could have invaded japan and fight and die like real heroes"
Lose a million men and slaughter about 2 million civilians? No thanks. We'll leave that to the Japanese and German experts.
dgonz26868 3 years ago
well... the fire bombing and burning down innocent civilians and what not is not somthing to really be proud of...we all had a huge share in civillian cassulties in that war and the fire bombing killed more people then both atom bombs combined...thats ALOT of people
nephilum1 3 years ago
"well... the fire bombing and burning down innocent civilians and what not is not somthing to really be proud of"

But don't blame all the Japs for this movie..
;) X
Sidrotten7 4 years ago 8
Same here when I was watching Pearl Haror in the theater. "The Might of Rome". Look it up here on youtube. That track sounds almost identical to the beginning of this one. They're both done by Hans.

The one I'm typing to right now--tylermannison--could be considered ignorant for using an outdated and frowned upon phrase. As for Americans being ignorant, that's up for individual opinion/debate.
