  • Hi,

Thank you Madhur...its lovely dish....I would like to know how to make out any fried items in oil is baked properly...normally how many minutes need to bake fired items..like Mirchi Bajji, and pakoda.

  • @tinaniki123

Thanks. Frying time varies from what you are cooking and stove temperature. First you need to heat up oil at high temperature, drop small piece of whatever you are cooking, if it comes up right away that means oil is enough hot. Now you can set you temperature to medium to high heat and deep fry until shankarpali changes its color. Shankarpali is one of such thing that you need to fry at medium heat so that it will get cooked all the way through. It should get light brown color..

  • can i use sugar syrup instead as i have lots of chashni (syrup) in my house

  • @methimnow

    yes you can :D

  • can i use self raising flour instead of maida???

  • @kirurakesh

I never tired it using self raising flour, but I think it would not work as self raising flour has baking powder in it and this recipe does not need any baking powder. Shakkarpara may not get crisp. Thanks for asking :D

  • hi madhura,

thanks dear.... you are awesome......... keep going..... god bless you dear

  • Hi Madhura,

Can i make Shankarpali without semolina/soji? I'm making this for a school project and don't have much time to order some. Or is there possibly a substitute for it.

    Thanks for reading, MJCButterfly

  • @mjcbutterfly

You can leave out adding semolina. It turns good without sooji too. Thanks. It tastes as good as cookies :)

  • Hi...

    Amruta

  • @amrutam727

    Hi Amruta,

Thanks so much, good to hear from marathi. Wish you also a very very happy and safe Diwali :)

  • Hi Madhura.................

    Mala ek vicharayachay

you said use ghee or oil for frying...

but if we use dalda then is it ok?

my mom uses dalda because she told me that due to oil there is specific smell to shankarpale after some days..

and if we use dalda shankarpale becomes soft and it swells properly..

so please guide me about this.....

  • @archana1109

    Hi Archana,

Since Dalda is not much healthy I think oil is better option t. And it also depends on weather, if its cold weather then shankarpali may get very hard if fried in Dalda. We are adding enough ghee while making dough for Shankarpali, so they turn really good even if you fry them with oil. You may use any oil or dalda suitable to your taste. Happy Diwali :)

  • so sweet,,,,,

  • @koliinrussia

    Dhanyawad :-)

  • @marathmol

Thanks a lot. Sure I am planning to post recipe for karanji but with our authentic stuffing. The rest of the recipe is same just add stuffing referring to Modak video. Thanks for request, I will also try to show these two versions of Karanji :)

  • Thanks for the recipe Madhura..Please keep posting all the diwali faral recipes..:)

  • @deshaditi

Thanks Aditi. Sure Diwali recipes are on its way, including quick versions also. Thanks :)

  • how about if we dip them in sugar syrup!! and can we use butter instead!!

  • @Esunshine71

Sure you can use butter instead of ghee, you may need 1/4 stick of butter. You may soak them in sugar syrup but then reduce the amount of sugar while making dough for shakkarpara. Thanks :)

  • thank you madhura...i am gonna make it for diwali and surprise my friends :)

  • @anashuabanerji

Thanks so much. Sure that's the reason I am posting these recipes much time before Diwali, so that all viewers get enough time for preparation. Thanks :)
