Yes let's teach our children that this kind of behavior and mistreatment of animals is acceptable - IT IS NOT ! This is out and out animal cruelty - where are the welfare laws - where is the ASPCA ? Charges should be brought against the school - and each individual who is responsible for this disgusting spectacle - :( Shame on everyone who allows this to continue !
Im sorry maybe I should have been more articulate in my first post but come on, its not like the animals are being maliciously harmed. Would it be better if they were playing Horse Basketball? Because if so I don't see a difference at all. The animals are being ridden, not seeing who can beat it the fastest.
No problem with the video, it's a funny vid, the kid gets tossed from the donkey. lol
I worry about the secure footing for the animals - if one is going to ride animals it should be on ground that is suitable for their feet - inside a school gym is not. Kids falling off - well ....... yes, but there are a couple of kids I see on these donkey's that I thought perhaps the donkey's would be riding the kids instead as they are much heavier it seems than the donkey :( I don't like to see animals used in sport at all - it is not their choice to be there.
cvfa... this was actually at my high school when i was a junior, and we did it again when i was a senior. My junior year a few animal activists showed up with the same argument, but the donkeys actually have something on the soles of their feet much like horseshoes to make a gym floor easy to walk on. Plus, its a good fund raiser and a lot of fun.
Sorry but this is wrong, and not just because the donkeys have to carry around people far too large for them. They are trucked in, scared and confused, sometime long distances, with food and water withheld so they don't have "accidents" in the gym. Then people ride and yank them around slippery floors with loud noises and bright lights. Accidents happen for both humans and donkeys, sometimes serious. And it promotes a circus mentality to kids that it's ok to abuse and bully their fellow animals.
wow , First of all , you must be all hippy Dippy about this and they are only having fun , it's not like they'r hitting the animals or anything , and DISGUSTING? , woah , go reveiw this school thoughroly before you judge , because I dont think you would like If I was judging you so quickly.
@MultiMegaLoser I am definately not alone here - read all the other comments here that agree with my points - who don't see this as fitting behavior by young ADULTS towards animals and if you have worked as long as I have with animals ( including donkey/pony and horse rescue), then you would understand my obvious concerns, then you can judge me all you wish. Be my guest !
I wasn't jusdgin you , and by the way , they can have fun and I don't really care how long you have been taking care of animals , yes it's not the best thing to do but they're not slaughtering the animals.Lighten up.
Fat asses. Not the donkeys, you. Get off that poor animal and play a real sport; one that doesn't involve hurting another creature.
