@MetalBru01 in a way it does, because religion has people settle with not knowing, with the comfort of ignorance, believing because it makes them feel good, not because it's actually true in reality. No joke, I've talked to theists who told me they would rather believe people get punished in the afterlife than 'escape punishment' in death. Others fear hell, so they believe. Others find this world so depressing they believe in god and afterlife because they need to: Emotion, not Truth.
@viridismonasteriense "We’re essentially atheists — I mean, I am; Trey I don't want to speak for (trey is not an athiest btw). But coming from that point of view, we’re atheists who don’t hate religion, who are kind of fascinated by it and kind of admire it."

This video is talking about psychics, not religion.
@viridismonasteriense Trey and Matt even said that they think that richard dawkins and Sam harris are "just bitchy whiners". Infact there is even two episodes of south park that make fun of richard dawkins.
@MetalBru01of Trey and Matt one is an atheist and one is a secular Jew, so I don't know what you're whining about. They made fun of Dawkins because they make fun of everyone, they're equal opportunity offenders and that's what so awesome about them. Neither Dawkins or Harris represent atheism or atheists, only themselves, as any atheist does. We're allowed to have different beliefs. That's the beauty of it. But that which is said to the psychic also applies to the religionist/superstitionist.
@Beetleking22 How are atheists idiots for listening to modern scientists and believing the proven, factual explanations they provide instead of listening to a Pope and believing the unproven, purely imaginary explanations that his ancestors thousands of years ago provided? Religion is madness and even though it may give hope to some, it ruins the lives of the others and spreads confusion worldwide.
I think that people is ruining this world not Religions. I can kill million people if i use atheism as an excuse to kill people.. Then i can say like you said.. it ruins the lives of the others and spreads confusion worldwide.
@Samou579 Before you bash people for believing in something you don't, check out the ending speech to the South Park episode "All About Mormons?". I think that boy may have been talking about people like you.
@MsMydaisy haha, little missy... i'm an ex-christian.. a strong one, years of my life destroyed by the very faith i gave my life believing it. i don't think bashing is wrong because i think religion deserve it, you can think whatever you want, but this is my own standpoint. @Samou579 I really do wish you wouldn't be so rude and closed-minded, but some people are just unwilling to change. I also wish you wouldn't go out of your way to demean me by beginning your rant with "little missy".

.... microwaves, jets, tv's or any other technology that you have come to depend your life on. we would still be looking up to the stars and praying, and have a life expectancy in our 20's.
im not saying that there isnt a "creator"- its a question no one can answer, but i wont use "god" as an excuse to exclude knowledge and the quest for understanding our universe.
Actually many early scientist used God as the reason for furthering the advancement of knowledge of the universe. It's the mainstream crazy people that get the press & all the people who believe they are the only representation of faith that aren't getting the whole picture.
@darksungames Yes, but as we've progressed further & further, we've found less & less need for a god or gods to explain the gaps filled in by science. Newton himself halted his immense progress of understanding and had to concede there was something he couldn't explain and "must" have been a divine hand adjusting the orbits of the planets. This was later explained by perturbation theory. Imagine if he hadn't thrown up his hands and said, "God did it," how much more progress he could have made.
Well i've seen nothing to indicate that Newton ceased his investigation on the explanation of things like the moons proper orbit or the source of gravitation. In fact It seems he dug exceedingly deep into these problems but was unable to find the answer. Halting any kind of investigation without proper reason is highly contrary to Newton's own personality & beliefs.
the great freedom about being an atheist is the ability to say "i dont know" and still pursue facts and science to fill in the gaps. it allows us to use our intelligence to discover things that religion discards.if we left scientific progress up to religion, the world would still be flat, the sun would still revolve around the earth, lightning would still be zeus's anger. fire would still be considered magic.
we wouldnt have cell phones, GPS, computers, DNA testing, heart transplants, cars....
@WIlliamMunnyOutlaw They were quite sure they would never be able to tell the chemical composition of stars. And yet, almost as one scientist was saying this, another scientist was using a spectroscope to find EXACTLY what stars are made of. It's not a matter of if we find these answers, it's when.
@Pooternackle5 god never promised he'd prevent you from dying in this life :) where'd you hear that? and no, science existed when god decided it existed. and sciene is just as exploited by greedy people as religion is, and you've yet to prove that religion and science are absolutely separate. everything in science is based on rules, if these rules apply, it's a fact yet the rules themselves(physics, chemistry, everything else) can't be explained.. so much for science
@Pooternackle5 because as i said faith and science aren't opposites, they walk next to each other. god created science for us to use in our lives.. people still die and science can't do anything about it, how do you explain that? and as i said science is based on rules that noone can really explain, just like the question "who created god", same thing can be asked about maaaaaaany things in science
To me, there is a big difference between a sincere pursuit of truth and being committed to a religion. I'm a devout believer in Jesus Christ, but South Park still speaks to me in the sense that I know that Trey Parker and Matt Stone are sincere seekers of truth (they aren't committed Christians, but they're certainly not atheists either) Atheists like to believe that it's them vs. everybody else, but I find most of them to be just as agenda driven and closed minded as the people they put down.
@X5Exotic i don't believe everyone has 'faith' - faith means belief in something that can't be proven. in that sense, not everyone has faith, so i'm afraid you're incorrect in your syllogism. and all humans being douches is not that big of a stretch of the imagination.
@X5Exotic uh...yes, it can...hence it being SCIENCE, the realm of empirical proof. and i'm more than familiar with subjectivity, and even IF you go that route, you simply cannot lump science and religion together. they are antitheses to one another. so i'm afraid that's incorrect
@Tourima how is science absolute proof, they have "beliefs" and their "rules" are simply what they said it was, sciece always changes and facts become false and new "facts" replace them, and yes, they ca be together :)
@Tourima then prove to me with your SCIENCE how was the universe created,
and i just wish to know, facts are based on rules, physics, chemistry and all, but who put these rules? what made physics itself? science is all about proving things using these rules yet those rules can't be proven themselves
@X5Exotic rules aren't divinely ordained. they are the way they are because if they were any other way, the universe would fall apart at the seams. you are going into a logical regress that cannot physically be determined, and is logically fallacious. read up on logic and logical fallacies, and then try to argue god.
You are a dumb fuck. If by that logic you wish to extrapolate that your beliefs are equivalent to scientific theories, then I just want to laugh at your stupid fucking face. That is the shittiest logic I have ever heard. No two beliefs are equal, and the scientific method is the best method we have of discovering what is true. Not some bullshit book made by stupid sheep herders.
No, you just don't understand my diction. Basically, I'm saying your logic sucks, and your God isn't real. Give me some examples of what your religion knew thousands of years ago, and I'll tell you why you're wrong :)
@DR000 first you give me examples of why god isn't real, just because you can't see something or you don't know about it doesn't mean it's not there (and the man who said that wasn't a priest)
now i know there are a lot of things that come to imagination but we can't see it, does that make them ALL real?no but let's start with this, according to your logic, or to science...how was the universe created?
I haven't given examples per se, instead I just pointed out that your logic is faulty - some beliefs are right, and some are wrong - science helps us determine which is which.
According to science, the best theory we have at the moment, which is corroborated by evidence, is the Big Bang Theory.
According to the lecture, "A Universe from Nothing", by Laurence Krauss, quantum fluctuations resulted in the Big Bang. The question of what was before the Big Bang may never be answered because it seems to be impossible to detect remnants of whatever existed, if anything existed, before the Big Bang. The question of why is meaningless, how do you know it's a why?
These are big questions that science is still trying to discover.
@DR000 1) you listened to that one man, just like religious people, listen to their prophets
2)yes but what caused the fluctuation, why do atoms act the way they act? why there is something called gravity?
if the big bang theory were true, what caused life, what is the substance that forms life, why only us? on earth
why are we alive and other objects aren't? why do non-living objects have rules as i asked earlier? can you answer that? or at least come up with a scientist that could?
1. No, the BBT is corroborated by many many scientists
2. The reasons for the quantum fluctuations are beyond my understanding of science. Even if we don't know _why_, it does not mean God did it. Atoms act the way they act because of the way the protons and neutrons interact. We have a good understanding of this, which is why the Table of Elements are so helpful. Gravity is quite mysterious indeed, but scientists have some ideas, it's beyond my understanding.
The advent of life is not related any way to the BBT. Life forming from non-life is a process known as abiogenesis. Science has some theories, but we don't know how for certain. The way life changes over time is by evolution, and this is a FACT! We don't know if we're the only life in the universe.
What rules are you referring to for non-living objects? ALL objects are subject to those physical laws of nature. . .
"people are entirely disbelieving of coincidence. they are far too ready to dismiss it and to build arcane structures of extreme rickety substance in order to avoid it. i, on the other hand, see coincidence everywhere as an inevitable consequence of the laws of probability, according to which having no unusual coincidence is far more unusual than any coincidence could possibly be." isaac asimov
2. Messengers (profets like Muhammed, Jezus, Abraham, Mozes etc.) life is a test
3. Time exists because of the son that is going with 50 miles/hour around the son.
Scientists believe the farther you are away from the son, the slower time goes.
And the Quran says there IS an end to the universe, and when you are out of space and time. There is no beggining or end. (simple astrology prove of god)
@brief555 seriously? :P Get the fuck off here. You're just solidifying the argument for mass secularization. If you want ANYONE to listen to your beliefs on faith, you have to admit that BY DEFINITION, faith is unable to be proven. Facts barely exist in the Quran, just like the Bible and Torah and The Book of Mormon - what few do, do not establish factuality. Messengers? No. Not proven. Time? A MAN-made abstraction. The 'complex way'? Look up 'arguments against teleological design'.
@Tourima No, I agree with the original commenter... South Park is the preachiest show on television. Sometimes they preach about people being too preachy, but they're still preaching. About everything. Over and over.
To answer your question, I watch South Park because, despite the above, it's still well-written and funny to this day and I enjoy it. But when scenes like this happen I have to roll my eyes -- EVEN WHEN I AGREE WITH THEM like I do in this case.
@zeedoubleyou It seems to you this way because ur dumbass you need people to tell you what to do instead ...of living your life your self whether its atheist or theist
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
people from reddit... notice how there's only 300 views? nobody cares. go fap to jailbait, fags. there's no viruses, only people who have no friends in real life, therefore only have reddit as their happy place
@houdin654jeff Thanks for summarizing the video. Sixteen seconds is really too long to expect anyone to sit through, so with your helpful synopsis of the last half, people can finally enjoy the full message of this clip. Thanks again!
Man, people are always arguing on South Park video clips :/

@Tourima every1 has "faith" lol even atheists as long as u believe in something, so either allllll humans are douches, or you're wrong
X5Exotic 8 months ago
@X5Exotic i don't believe everyone has 'faith' - faith means belief in something that can't be proven. in that sense, not everyone has faith, so i'm afraid you're incorrect in your syllogism. and all humans being douches is not that big of a stretch of the imagination.

@Tourima even believing in science is faith, cuz it can't be proven, nothing can be absolutely proven :)
X5Exotic 8 months ago
@X5Exotic uh...yes, it can...hence it being SCIENCE, the realm of empirical proof. and i'm more than familiar with subjectivity, and even IF you go that route, you simply cannot lump science and religion together. they are antitheses to one another. so i'm afraid that's incorrect
Tourima 8 months ago 22
@Tourima how is science absolute proof, they have "beliefs" and their "rules" are simply what they said it was, sciece always changes and facts become false and new "facts" replace them, and yes, they ca be together :)
X5Exotic 8 months ago
@Tourima then prove to me with your SCIENCE how was the universe created,
and i just wish to know, facts are based on rules, physics, chemistry and all, but who put these rules? what made physics itself? science is all about proving things using these rules yet those rules can't be proven themselves
X5Exotic 7 months ago
@X5Exotic rules aren't divinely ordained. they are the way they are because if they were any other way, the universe would fall apart at the seams. you are going into a logical regress that cannot physically be determined, and is logically fallacious. read up on logic and logical fallacies, and then try to argue god.

@X5Exotic The entire point of Science is it can be proven through repeatable experiments.

@X5Exotic
DR000 7 months ago
@DR000 you're not making any sense >.< you're stupid lol
and yes my beliefs proved thousands of years ago what your science came up with a while ago, you suck dude xD
X5Exotic 7 months ago
@X5Exotic
No, you just don't understand my diction. Basically, I'm saying your logic sucks, and your God isn't real. Give me some examples of what your religion knew thousands of years ago, and I'll tell you why you're wrong :)
DR000 7 months ago
@DR000 first you give me examples of why god isn't real, just because you can't see something or you don't know about it doesn't mean it's not there (and the man who said that wasn't a priest)
now i know there are a lot of things that come to imagination but we can't see it, does that make them ALL real?no but let's start with this, according to your logic, or to science...how was the universe created?
X5Exotic 7 months ago
@X5Exotic
I haven't given examples per se, instead I just pointed out that your logic is faulty - some beliefs are right, and some are wrong - science helps us determine which is which.
According to science, the best theory we have at the moment, which is corroborated by evidence, is the Big Bang Theory.
DR000 7 months ago
@DR000 ok, and how did the big bang happen? what triggered it? why did it exist? what was there before it? what contains the universe right?
X5Exotic 7 months ago
@X5Exotic
DR000 7 months ago
@DR000 1) you listened to that one man, just like religious people, listen to their prophets
2)yes but what caused the fluctuation, why do atoms act the way they act? why there is something called gravity?
if the big bang theory were true, what caused life, what is the substance that forms life, why only us? on earth
why are we alive and other objects aren't? why do non-living objects have rules as i asked earlier? can you answer that? or at least come up with a scientist that could?
X5Exotic 7 months ago
@X5Exotic
PART !
DR000 7 months ago
@X5Exotic
Part 2
The advent of life is not related any way to the BBT. Life forming from non-life is a process known as abiogenesis. Science has some theories, but we don't know how for certain. The way life changes over time is by evolution, and this is a FACT! We don't know if we're the only life in the universe.
What rules are you referring to for non-living objects? ALL objects are subject to those physical laws of nature. . .
We are alive because we are made up of cells.
DR000 7 months ago
@X5Exotic the BBT and abiogenesis have nothing to do with eachother.
we are made of many substances, many of which we share with abiotoc objects.
how do you know thats its only us, just because we havent found anything doesnt mean its not out there.
we havent even looked that hard anyway.
chance, simple. why are you a male instead of a female? chance, thats it.
skittlepower95 7 months ago
"people are entirely disbelieving of coincidence. they are far too ready to dismiss it and to build arcane structures of extreme rickety substance in order to avoid it. i, on the other hand, see coincidence everywhere as an inevitable consequence of the laws of probability, according to which having no unusual coincidence is far more unusual than any coincidence could possibly be." isaac asimov
skittlepower95 7 months ago
@X5Exotic asking what came before the big bang is like asking whats north of the north pole.
science isnt sure what triggered it, but we have made massive leaps and bounds towards figuring it out.
why did it exist? its not concious
skittlepower95 7 months ago
@Tourima
Islam has been proven,
1. Scientific facts in the Quran
4. The complex way we are created
brief555 1 month ago
@brief555 seriously? :P Get the fuck off here. You're just solidifying the argument for mass secularization. If you want ANYONE to listen to your beliefs on faith, you have to admit that BY DEFINITION, faith is unable to be proven. Facts barely exist in the Quran, just like the Bible and Torah and The Book of Mormon - what few do, do not establish factuality. Messengers? No. Not proven. Time? A MAN-made abstraction. The 'complex way'? Look up 'arguments against teleological design'.

zeedoubleyou 1 year ago
@zeedoubleyou it's a contradiction to be preachy about NOT BEING preachy. so no, on the basis of logical non-contradiction theory.
why are you watching this if you don't like south park? fuck off.
Tourima 1 year ago 25
@Tourima No, I agree with the original commenter... South Park is the preachiest show on television. Sometimes they preach about people being too preachy, but they're still preaching. About everything. Over and over.
To answer your question, I watch South Park because, despite the above, it's still well-written and funny to this day and I enjoy it. But when scenes like this happen I have to roll my eyes -- EVEN WHEN I AGREE WITH THEM like I do in this case.

@Tourima It IS a contradiction, but unfortunately many manage to do it. It's called being a hypocrite. XD
