I remember this song from 76 and I don't think I have heard it since and for some reason I just typed in some of the title and found... wonderful I loved the seventies... thanks foe posting
I thought they made this song up for an episode of Alice! Alice was playing piano in some bar and some guy came in and asked "You know 'Drop kick me Jesus through the goalpost of life'? she said no and he said "Better learn it. It's a biggie." Mel comes in she asked if he had a request and he said "You know me drop kick me Jesus through the goalpost of life?" the other guy said "See...TOLD YA it was a biggie!"
Here is a fun song about Jesus on youtube and all the profanity I have to read, it's so sad. I find today I and others can't say anything about Jesus because it offends some, but I have to see words that offend me, it's okay? I do understand you have the right to not have to hear Jesus, where are my rights? Just sayin........ BTW: God Bless!!!!!!!
@agw505 i know what you mean, im an atheist not that it matters but my point is, there are people who will throw their opinions in your face just to try and get a reaction out of you, iv learned it's best to just ignore it. Just know their are people who are sick of the fight on both sides
@agw505 *rolls eyes* Oh, please... That sounds so touching, so pitiful, too bad it isn't true. At least not in my country, America, where we have freedom of speech and freedom of religion. In some countries, I understand, a person risks life and freedom to speak of a religion not sanctioned by the state. Here, in America, I have people inundate me with their dearest heart felt beliefs at the drop of a hat. Are some of them offensive ? Dang right. Do they have freedom of speech ? Dang right

This has got to be the most lame song I ever heard, which of course, appeals to all you redneck sports fans sitting around on Sunday afternoons in your single-axle trailer homes chugging down that cheap Buckhorn beer getting drunk while watching football and then beating the holy crap outta you wife and kids when your favorite team loses the big game of the season. Praise de Lord! Amen! Don't ya just love it!
@BigFatMan1951 .....Me thinks you protesteth too much, which leads me to believe you're just as guilty as those you describe. And next time? Use some form of punctuation, will ya? At least us "rednecks" know a run-on sentence when we see one.
@BigFatMan1951 first of all my trailer has four axles my truck has 3 and my drink of choice is jim beam or bud light ive never heard of buckhorn and i dont beat my wife cuz i dont have one but my g/f takes a slap or two when she leaves the kitchen.....maybe ill start chainin her up... but my point is that you where way off on generalizing who likes this song..... try again
I had a friend who sang these lyrics for many years and I was never sure whether it was a real song. (This guy was in a Catholic seminary but got kicked out because he liked boys.)
@Powermaddd However, it is much more meaningful when you are a Christian. True, this song was meant to be a bit irreverent for a gospel song, but then, it fit ol' beer-drinking Christian Bobby Bare to a 'T'! This song has always meant more to me than to most people. I don't look at it as indicting of Christian songs, or of country music songs, but as of reminding we Christians that we all have feet of clay, made of human flesh.

Jesus said "The poor you will always have among you" ..but you will not always have Mitt Romney & the others that are filthy rich like him.

If this song is a take-off, it's of some of the extremes of popularisation that you some preachers and churches stoop to.
