My 08 F-150 has had to have the brakes, alternator, o2 sensor, and rear diff replaced. haven't even hit 30,000 miles yet. I baby my truck too to try and keep it happy, Ford gave me a real shitter.

Inspect a showroom car? How will test driving it tell me that these things will happen to it either. I don't even take it off road because I live in the city so it can't be getting abused at all. This also "sleezy" dealer is Landmark Ford which has fantastic reputation for customer service and support. They have helped me with my truck a lot actually which is refreshing(I haven't had to pay for any repairs thank god) It is just frustrating how things keep "popping up" with the damn truck.
Test driving doesn't mean taking it off road, floor it if you test drive anything, if something breaks it's the dealer's fault not yours. Test drove a 98 S-10 when i was looking for my truck, floored it and the timing belt broke. Don't know where you heard about his great rep, but if he's selling trucks like that it doesn't seem that great to me.
The thing wasn't even used, it was brand new and had about 1 mile on it. I did floor the car shift all gears, check everything that I could think of; the car ran like a top. The parts on it just let go.

As I said, the battery tech has to be improved so that longer distances can be driven on a single charge. For the recharge time issue, you only need higher voltage sockets. Why spend a ton of electricity on making hydrogen gas only to convert it back to electricity(fuel cell) in the car, its a waste really and the only reason I see for it is that the petrol industry has to be able to "sell" something instead of just giving up and leaving it all the the power companies.
We would need a remarkable breakthrough in batteries to give us a good range (unlikely), but that still leaves us with slow charge times. How about just switching our plants from burning fossils to Nuclear? That will cut down our oil usage so we won't have to stop using it in cars. We can also drill in the US. There is so much oil it will last us probably a few thousand years at least. By then we will kill each other or we will have a good replacement technology.

Test drove a 98 S-10 when i was looking for my truck, floored it and the timing belt broke. Don't know where you heard about his great rep, but if he's selling trucks like that it doesn't seem that great to me.

The thing wasn't even used, it was brand new and had about 1 mile on it. I did floor the car shift all gears, check everything that I could think of; the car ran like a top. The parts on it just let go.

'07 f-150 5.4L with 50,000 miles no problem. '07 f-150 4.6L with 30,000 miles no problem.
both trucks are far from babied.
'07 has a constant load on it all its life and tows and does light off roading from time to time.
'08 is used to tow quite often, from tent trailers to dump trailers. and is taken on mild off roading quite a bit. caught air a couple times.
i also have an '89 f-250 that is used and abused and has minor problems from time to time, nothing that popping the hood won't fix.

SSC should stick to badass gasoline supercars. Electric is stupid. It is no more environmentally friendly because the pollution is just being made somewhere else. And then once you are out you have to wait 8 hours to drive another 150 miles.
The Ford SVT Raptor is amazing. That would be a killer truck to have. Great offroad and looks amazing. All that said and I am a Chevy fan.

lmfao! electric is not the future! far from it! but neither is v8 like that guy said. electric cant be the future because we built up our society on one simple concept: driving as far and you want, and refueling in minutes. not driving 100 miles, and refueling in 20 hours. if we do that, we'll basically go backwards in time. hydrogen is the future because it blends the two concepts together, and it creates a perfect blend.

As I said, the battery tech has to be improved so that longer distances can be driven on a single charge. For the recharge time issue, you only need higher voltage sockets. Why spend a ton of electricity on making hydrogen gas only to convert it back to electricity(fuel cell) in the car, its a waste really and the only reason I see for it is that the petrol industry has to be able to "sell" something instead of just giving up and leaving it all the the power companies.

We would need a remarkable breakthrough in batteries to give us a good range (unlikely), but that still leaves us with slow charge times. How about just switching our plants from burning fossils to Nuclear? That will cut down our oil usage so we won't have to stop using it in cars. We can also drill in the US. There is so much oil it will last us probably a few thousand years at least. By then we will kill each other or we will have a good replacement technology.

The US/Canada standard for offset head-on crashes is a bit more strenuous than EuroNCAP. Canada has additional standards that say the damn headlights have to take a 5-mph hit without breaking, or something like that.

I'm not knocking Euro standards, it's just different testing procedures. And emission rules in the US aren't more strict overall, but they are stricter on nitrogen oxides ("acid rain"). That's why diesels are so hard to get approved in US states like California.

Good Eyes. In anorther part of the interview, Ford engineer, Carrie Baldori, explained that this is the first Mfgr 'from the factory' installation of Fox tech. Ford and Fox collaborated on valving for bump / rebound settings. They looked stout front / rear [second reservoir cannister in back!].
