@2:15....Makes absolutely no sense whatsoever to have a SCBA on and not use it especially when you are on fire attack and the fire is within feet. Does no good dangling from your neck. Looking for tough guy points? Come on....sure your family won't give you any props when you die early from lung cancer. Be smart and wear your PPE when appropriate. It makes me shake my head when I see this crap....unbelievable.
Different guys different tastes. When I was heavy on the Squad I was on for Volunteer Services. I would put on my SCBA, pull the nomex down around my neck, and put on my helmet with the mask strapped to my belt.
Reason being it takes a lot longer to put on the full SCBA, mask, and perform your adjustments and checks, but it only takes a moment to throw the mask on pull your hood over, and tighten down your helmet when you've already got the SCBA on and done with all your pack adjustments
but, @ 2:18, the dude is on the nozzle, immediately next to the fully involved structure. It isn't like he was out walking next to the engine lol. Should have been on air!
hes outside in fresh air. Im sure if he needs his face piece he will put it on. You have to learn how to take a feed of smoke. you dont want your first time to be when your out of air trapped. Learn how to eat some smoke!
ccruze, you've got to assess it. its not a brush fire, this is a warehouse fire. And do you know what warehouses have in them? plastics and other materials that are hazardous. If we all went "Hey, lets go run in and hope we won't die =D" there would be alot of dead civilians and firefighters. its already 8 civilians for every 1 firefighter. your way would increase that number, so i'd reccomend a stfu, because i volunteer, and know what your talking about.
As far as I'm concerned your a dumbass, and you DON'T know what your talking about. You retaliate once, and then started talking about random context.
A well trained unit well do what he's told by the Cheif on the scene. Regardless, of what's happening on the scene everyones a hero because their putting their life endanger for another person.
However, in your case, these exceptions can be made because you aren't worth saving. BUT since you know so much come to the acdemy in knoxville TN.
I tink it's funny that they are always in a hurry to speed down the road and get people out of the way but when they get there they just walk around like little lost puppy dogs. Seriously, if you think its "cool" to be a fireman at least hit the ground running and at least look like you know what youre doing.
STFU ccruze, you don't know what the fuck your talking about. Yeah, you DO rush to a fire, but time = people or property saved.
Why hit the ground running, do YOU want to die?
It's better to survey the fire, get a stragety, and then attack. Not run around blinding putting yourself, and your fellow firefightings in danger. The point is to go home at the end of the night, and to save people and property, not die trying.
You obviouly don't know shit, so save us the time and shut up. Flith.

I know exactly what I'm talking about. You haven't convinced me that you do though! A well trained unit should be able to react to any situation not just the textbook cases that never happen. I hope you don't do any kind of math for a living! Maybe you should check out your "equation" and study up on inverse/direct proportionality! While youre at it work on that spelling! By getting a strategy I assume you are talking about something similar to what the hero with the chainsaw is doing. explain!
ok the dude with the chain saw is cutting away part of the door so the lock can be popped off more easily. Dude, i would love to put you in a Fire Truck, and put you at this fire and see what you do. You'll probably die, sorry to say, but you dont konw anyhting, so please stfu.
ryan394 - fighting a fire isnt always as simple as putting water on fire my friend. If on the otherside of the fire your attacking is not burnt yet, you'll just push it to that area. Properly coordination and execution of ventilation will help prevent that.
I have been a fan of LACoFD since the Emergency days. Do you have any vids of 127's (the station used in Emergency) also, do they still use the SCU tones like in the show
I just "thumbs up"ped all the comments on here. I agree it is excellent work documenting the whole incident! :)
Why is that firefighter taking a chainsaw to a blank wall--is it to look to see if there is fire behind or in that wall since the fire is so close? Sorry--I am just a layperson--a civilian with NO firefighting knowledge except what I have learned off of YouTube...heeheee. :)
Toastt21 how do you get to the fire so fast? i am in 112 area and i love watching them drive by my house. keep it up mabey we will run in to each other some day
Toastt21 you continue to amaze myself and the rest of my brothers at the firehouse with your all access video shots. Keep up the great work. Your videos are good training clips.

DAMN wtf was fueling that fire? It look like it was eating an all you can eat buffet. What was the initial cause of the fire?
DarkMagik0 1 year ago
@Spacemanfan1998 it's a 500 gallon nozzle it's bigger than the test of the hoses but it shots out alot of water but at a short distance
theatomicfart1001 1 year ago

@Dthorn912 I would rather use a 1 3/4 " that way the deuce can be used for exposures or to drench my ass if I have to go in...lol

in a fully envolved fire, your not going in the building, at that point, our in defensive mode, making sure other buildings do not burn
