@ricardonz15 hes the worlds best ball hawk. nobody turns the ball over, slows opposition ball and snaffles offensive forward play like mccaw. he routinely makes many more tackles than any other player on the field. i agree that its quite easy to overlook the guy. hes not a spies or one of those giant freaks, but for me the fact that he is of average build only makes him more special. richard hill is another great example of that type of player. quietly dominant.

@ricardonz15 The laws in the tackle ruck area were changed two years ago. Previously you could tackle someone, stand straight up and go straight for the ball. Now you have to let them 'place the ball. This is a law that advantages the team with the ball by making it harder to make turnovers and encourages them to run the ball instead of kicking (there was a ridiculous amount of kicking two years ago, SA I'm looking at you). This has reduced the influence of an open side flanker on the match.
