@damosaur17 Set the camera to the S mode or the M mode. Press the (+/-) button then use the direction pad to adjust shutter speed. Watch the Top Features video on this camera for a demo.
@MizzMalaika AV cables allow video output to a television. It doesn't power the camera. There is a "dummy" battery dongle you can buy that is inserted into the battery compartment, and with an ac adapter, you can power the camera but it will be cheaper just to buy a good set of rechargeable batteries.
@feuerwerker11 This camera does not offer 5.1 surrond sound. Actually, i don't believe any cameras records in 5.1 surrond sound. As for filming (video) fireworks, videos at night will be dark. For best low-light performance, a camera with a Large sensor like DSLR can offer best results of course at a higher price.
@Hegemon59 Yes. Please have a look at the top features video for the S2950, i demo that feature there. It can shoot up to 8fps at 3MP up to 20 shots, and 3.3fps at 6MP up to 10 shots.
Greetings guys, I got my S2950 yesterday and it seems to be good except one thing... When I turn the camera on it is really blurry, even when I try to focus it says !AF and show a red cross. I figured out that I have to turn on supermacro mode and try to focus on a strong light source and after that it works fine (sometimes). This is a bit annoying and is there another way to do it because it is a bit boring and not what I expected from a new camera. Thanks a lot!
@SmashDeveloper Are you doing this in lowlight situations? is this happening in good lighting. For close up focusing within 10cm, please turn on Macro mode, Closer than that up to 1cm, use Super macro. otherwise, normal focus mode should work. Just make sure the lighting in the area is bright enough so the camera can properly focus.
@fujiguys I noticed that the focus works great when the zoom is set to maximum. Also, in any light condition the focus is bad (even in really bright light). I have to use Super macro while taking normal pictures to get the image focused. Sometimes it works great and without problems. Here are a couple of examples: i43.tinypic.c0m/f254wm.jpg (low light) i43.tinypic.c0m/m97rc5.jpg (good light)
@SmashDeveloper Ok. If you feel the camera is not focusing properly, i would contact a Fuji service centre in your area for additonal help. You might want to have it sent in or if you just bought this, have it replace with a new model. 1-800-800-FUJI (USA), 1-800-461-0416 (CANADA).
ı am thinking to buy this camera. ı am not a proffesional but ı wanna learn and ı want a quality camera. this camera is now in discount thats why ı discover it. I want to take quality pictures do you recommend it ?
@Davidcyp91 Its a good camera to start with. Gives you some manual controls and picture quality is very good with this camera. You should check out peoples flickr page on S2950 and see some of the wonderful photo's people take with it.
@Sheepshooter11 No memory card is included. You have to purchase a SD card separately. I recommend at least a Class 4 Rated SD card of higher and at least 4GB.
hey there fujiguys i would like to know the best settings and if there is any way to get rid of the noise on the display screen also what is the best frame size for taking photos and all the other best qualitys please also look on my channel as i took those photos with this camera
and do you think you could sponsor me please pm me
@JHowellPhotography If you shoot in low light situations, the image will be boosted to make the scene brighter on the LCD, this of course will add noise. The actual image may differ depending on your ISO settings. To minimize noise while shooting in low light situations, you can set the ISO to Auto (400) or Auto (800) and then use the flash when images are still too dark. As for quality, just set the resolution to 14MP Fine.
@PhotographyYT I typically use the "P" program auto mode. I then set the ISO to Auto (800) and shoot with that settings for most situations. If i am shooting indoors and it's not very bright, then i'll turn on the flash. As for resolution, leaving it at the 14MP Fine the best. Have at least a Class 4 rated SD card or higher with capacity of 8GB would be minimal for both video and high quality photo's.
@bondurk It includes 1 time use Alkaline batteries. Once depleted, you can't charge these. I recommend buying Low Discharged NiMH batteries if you can as they are great for this camera (check out Sanyo's eneloop or similar style battteries)
@Sorry4WastingUrTime Please either watch the Top Featuers video for this camera or , set the camera to the "S" priority mode. Press the [+/-] button and then use the direction pad (left/right) to change shutterspeeds.
Hi, can you tell me how I can get back to the start menu to set up the time/date, it was never done. Removing the batteries does not do it, thanks for any help. chris
@vjmwau Press the Menu/Ok button. Now change the tab from Shooting to Setup by press left, then down, then right on the direction pad. Scroll down/up until you see Date/time. That is where you can change the settings.
@AVHDesigns I used a DSLR because i needed a camera that can accept and external microphone (for better audio). Any Entry Level DSLR with mic input works for me because i have some studio lighting which makes a whole of a differences for video quality.
@columbo1977 It depends on what shooting mode you are on. On SR Auto, you can select those settings. Put it in "P" program auto, then they are available. Also check if Face Detection is on as this will grey out some options too.
@binodkharal It uses AA type batteries. You can use Alkaline, rechargeable NiMH, or even 1 time use Lithium AA type batteries. I recommend buying Low Discharged NiMH batteries like Sanyo Eneloop.
No Icon represents that the batteries are partially discharged or new. If the batteries are low, the indicator will appear, you should replace the batteries as soon as possible. If a blinking battery indicator appears, the batteries are dead and needs to be replaced immediately. The camera will shut off at that point. There is no battery indictor to show the various stage of charge e.g. 4/4, 3/4, 2/4/, 1/4...
@Fishbone2688 Each battery has it's own characteristic. Alkaline can run and slowly die, NiMH will run and then die all of a sudden, and Lithium can run longer and then slowly die. So telling the camera can help the camera identify when to display the battery low symbol and help also increase battery life by using /adjusting slight voltage.
@discostu122122 If this is a newly purchase camera, i would have it replaced with another one, IF this is older and pass the return, please contact a fujifilm service centre in your area.
@discostu122122 The camera accepts both SD or SDHC cards. Ensure you have inserted the card correctly. Check the yellow label where the SD card slot is to check to ensure you have the card inserted in the correct orientation. If you have no problems inserting the card but it does stay in, try pushing it in further until it clicks in place.
Is this camera supposed to come with a memory card (my one didn't) or do you have to buy one separately. Please help it's only my second camera and i'm only 13 years old!
@x13TaylorSwiftFan13x No. Memory card is not included. I recommend purchasing at least a Class 4 rated SD card or higher if you plan to record HD video too.
I'm getting a terrible picture quality since i opened the camera. I switched the quality setting to fine, turned down ISO and still nothing changes.. Can anyone tell me why?
@BatuAkdeniz Are the pics looking bad when shooting in good lighting? In lowlight, more noise will be associated with the image. For indoors, i recommend setting the camera to the "P" program auto mode and setting the ISO to Auto (400). Then use the flash when needed. Also, image should be good in outdoor / good lighting. If you are not achieving great pictures in good lighting, i recommend contact a fuji camera service to discuss your image with them to determine what the problem is.
@Itslorenz The camera includes a USB cable to download images directly from the camera. You don't need to buy a card reader. We only suggest a card reader as it's more convenient than connecting a USB cable to the camera all the time.
@mortimp Camera can support SD and SDHC cards. SD cards range from 512MB to 2GB. SDHC cards range from 4GB - 32GB. So the camera can use SDHC cards up to 32GB. Hope this helps.
Do you guys know how good this camera works at night? I'm looking at a digital camera to use at nightime for a sporting event since my current small day use one (the fujifilm xp10) cant take a decent night shot with lights in the background worth anything.
@StarGirl11 I would look at our EXR lineup for better lowlight shooting. This camera will be only slightly better than the XP10 for lowlight. In fact, most cameras will have a tough time taking night sports shot unless you are very close and have access to the stadiums built-in flash system (most people will not have this access).
@HorseRidingUni They include only 4x AA Alkaline (1-time use). I recommend rechargeable AA NiMH type batteries which can be had for less than $20 now-a-days and will offer over 500 shots per charge.
@ablecrew There is a highspeed continous shooting mode that can help capture the action. It offers 8fps up to 20 shots. With good lighting, it would be good. As for video, the camera is average. Video is limited to 8-9minutes per video clip (that is 2GB in size for HD video).
@rawdogg Yes, long exposure via the Manual mode, Fish eye or miniature effect: no, not on the camera. There are software via Google search that can do such things.
@babeeshan9 It is on by Default. In the SETUP menu, go to the s DUAL IS Mode option. 3 Options to choose form. Continuous, Shooting Only, and OFF. Continuous: DIS is always in operation, Shooting Only, DIS operates when you press the shutter button to take the picture, Off: DIS is off (No Stabilization)
@babeeshan9 The S2950 offers a highspeed shooting mode of up to 8fps however the camera does prevent you from accessing the menu while it finish recording all the continuous images. Having a faster rated memory card can reduce the write time but is no where near the speed of a professional camera like the D3S or D3X.
- Can i take FAST pictures, like a D3S or D3X? I know it is continious mode, but how can i take good pictures and dont have to wait for the pictures to be saved? it takes a long time to save
hi guyssssss please tell me how to make panoramas with a lower iso cause mine is on auto and i can't select to iso 64 for example and i've seen on a site reviewing this camera a panorama taken with iso 64 :dd is it possible to select a lower iso? ty in advance :) oh and nice videos :D!!
@onutzica1994 In the Panorama mode, the ISO is set to AUTO and can't be changed. Depending on the lighting situation, the camera may pick the lower ISO (if lighting is bright enough)
@fujiguys How do I get mine to record more than 32 seconds of HD video? I asked on another video but no reply! It says I have 9minutes of video remaining, records for 32 seconds, stops and saves itself then comes back to same amount of time left to record. Help!
@Whitsnag88 For HD video, ensure you have a Class 4 card or higher otherwise the video recording may start. If you have a class 4 card, try formatting the card first using the camera.
@kaushikdeep99 MF is not avaialbe on this camera. Aperture actually controls the "Depth of field" on the camera which this camera does offer however due to the sensor size, creating shallow depth of field is more difficult. Best tip is to stand further back and then zoom in on the subject. This will help isolate the subject and focus.
@Titanic1243 Please have a look at the S3400 video instead. Its the same camera. ONly difference is zoom. S3300 is 26x vs S3400 28x. Quality is the same.
I can't seem to play vidoes or delete pics in playback mode. The little squares made of smaller squares just keeps moving like it is always loading. Am I doing something wrong?
@dagnym1 To play videos in the playback mode, press "down" on the direction pad. To delete images, go into the menu in the playback mode and select "delete -> All Frames". If you still have issues, try using a card reader to save both images and video to your computer, then place the card back to your camera and "Format" it using the camera, via SETUP menu. *ensure you save your files to the computer first before formating the card
@TigehFilms This camera actually takes great photos and has a high speed continous shooting mode to capture from action shots. It's SRP is only $180CAD.
@fujiguys CAN U TELL ME DAT WHAT IF I AM PLANNING BETWEEN THIS fujifilm s2950 and olympus 800uz .... which 1 is a better choice..?? i think it has got more features... is that so ??? or olympus 800uz is a better choice.... what about the battery life. .?? it lasts long with fully charged.. ??
@kaushikdeep99 S2950 is not a direct comparison to the Olympus 800uz. S2950 offers 18x zoom, 800uz offers 30x zoom. S2950 SRP is $200, 800uz SRP is $350. Image quality however should be similar. S2950 offers Electronic viewfinder (800uz does not have this). Other than zoom, cameras are very similar and S2950 offers better bang for the bucks.
@mercyhurstchic All cameras requires batteries. This camera uses 4xAA. Buy some good low discharged NiMH batteries and you will be all set. AA are cheaper to replace and can be used for emergencies when you forgot to charge the batteries. AA NIMH can give you approx 500 shots per charge.
@fujiguys I understand that, what I meant was I don't want a digital camera in which I have to put AA batteries in it. I rather have a ion lithium battery that is rechargeable.
@mercyhurstchic I see. Unfortunately, the S2950 uses only AA type batteries. But truthfully, AA on this camera last longer than most Li-ion batteries. If you compare this to a DSLR with a LI-ion, it is different as with DSLR uses less LCD and is more mechanical therefore last longer.
Just purchased the 2950...can you tell me what the yellow pic of a camera means that i see in the screen sometimes ...just starting to figure this cam out ...very pleased so far
@twincamca Yellow pic of camera indicates the camera may be using a slow shutterspeed due to the lighting in the area. Camera Shake may be possible. If you pop the flash, you will notice it goes away since shooting with the flash, the camera will use a shutterspeed of at least 1/60s. If you don't want to use flash, try increasing the shutter by change ISO or sensitivity of the camera.
@Thewilko1234 There is no hotshoe on this camera for an external flash. There are 3rd flashes that can attach to the bottom of the tripod mount of this camera and extends to the side. It is triggered by the cameras onboard pop-flash flash optically. Google.
@YourMasterNoah Sound quality is decent. Look at the Top Features video for this camera and there is a sample video from the camera. Also, check on Youtube for other sample videos from this camera.
@JonahRamey The camera does not have threads to attach add-on filters or lens. I have seen some 3rd party adapters that attaches to the camera via tension screws and adds an option to add filters/lens adapter. I would google.
@fujiguys So I heard this can take 720p HD Video! That is Great! But I was wondering. Can you take 720p Video for 7 or 8 minutes each clip, or in all?
@JonahRamey Maximum video file size is 2GB which equals to 8 mins max per clip at 720p. You can record multiple clips and then use software to join or edit them.
@MrSTRIKER52 The zoom is approx 504mm. You can get pretty close however you may need to "pre-focus" on a distance subject prior to taking the photo to reduce the delay time between taking the picture and the camera capturing the shot. Also, a tri-pod would be ideal too.
@badger123ranran If recording a normal CRT TV, you will get those refresh lines, if filming LCD, than its better however i still wouldn't say this is the best way to film you playing video games. I would look for a device that can capture video output from your game console instead.
@meizzzcool2259 They are completely different cameras and class. The D90 is a D-SLR camera with abiity to change lenses. The D90 sits between amateur and mid- level photographers. The S2950 is more like a Point and Shoot with a SLR like look to it offering great zoom and features. With good lighting, image quality may be comparable to a certain extent however with the ability to add lens that cost $1500+, there is no doubt which would be better :-).
@seaboo143 The flash is open manually by pushing the button to the left of the flash. Then, within the camera, there is a "Auto" flash setting that will fire the flash when needed. The Auto flash does not pop-up on its own however.
I have a problem. I just bought this camera about a week ago. And yesterday while i was playing a video on the camera, the sound was starting to break down and now my camera doesn't have sound. Silent mode is off and the volumes are up. No sound comes from the speaker. Please help.
@iamfromsouthpole If you already "Reset" the settings via the SETUP menu and the problem still exist, you might want to go back to the retailer. few things to check before, Do you hear the video when downloaded to your computer? also, When playing back the video, press the "menu/ok" button during playback, a volume setting should appear, make sure it's not turned down.
@iamfromsouthpole Did you buy it new? recently? in a store or online? Authorized Fuji retailer? If you answer yes, then yes, they should if you didn't drop the camera (impact damage) and it seems "defective". I would check with the store. They should never give you a refurb if you bought a new camera.
yeah thanks i figure it out before thanks anyways. :DDDD

I can't open it to try for myself because it's a gift for my dad, please answer :D
Itslorenz 2 months ago
@Itslorenz The camera includes a USB cable to download images directly from the camera. You don't need to buy a card reader. We only suggest a card reader as it's more convenient than connecting a USB cable to the camera all the time.

On the subject of the SDHC Class4 memory card, does it matter what size Gb I use? Is there a minimum or maximum the camera will use?
mortimp 3 months ago
@mortimp Camera can support SD and SDHC cards. SD cards range from 512MB to 2GB. SDHC cards range from 4GB - 32GB. So the camera can use SDHC cards up to 32GB. Hope this helps.

Do you guys know how good this camera works at night? I'm looking at a digital camera to use at nightime for a sporting event since my current small day use one (the fujifilm xp10) cant take a decent night shot with lights in the background worth anything.
StarGirl11 3 months ago
@StarGirl11 I would look at our EXR lineup for better lowlight shooting. This camera will be only slightly better than the XP10 for lowlight. In fact, most cameras will have a tough time taking night sports shot unless you are very close and have access to the stadiums built-in flash system (most people will not have this access).
fujiguys 3 months ago
Do the batteries come with the camera?
Please reply i really need to know :) xx
HorseRidingUni 3 months ago
@HorseRidingUni They include only 4x AA Alkaline (1-time use). I recommend rechargeable AA NiMH type batteries which can be had for less than $20 now-a-days and will offer over 500 shots per charge.

is this camera good for sports pictures and video's e/g bmx and skateboarding ?
ablecrew 3 months ago
@ablecrew There is a highspeed continous shooting mode that can help capture the action. It offers 8fps up to 20 shots. With good lighting, it would be good. As for video, the camera is average. Video is limited to 8-9minutes per video clip (that is 2GB in size for HD video).
fujiguys 3 months ago
@ablecrew yes it is. it turns on quickly and as long as you are focused the pictures will come out really well

btw the camera is awsome!! thx
zahymer 3 months ago
@zahymer Battery indicator normally goes in right when you turn the camera on. It doesn't appear again unless the batteries gets low.

@fujiguys thanks for the fast reply :) the cam is great!

@slingamalinga1 Both cameras are the same. No differences in quality. S2950 is the latest model however.

Is there a long eposure, fish eye and miniature effects?
rawdogg 3 months ago
@rawdogg Yes, long exposure via the Manual mode, Fish eye or miniature effect: no, not on the camera. There are software via Google search that can do such things.
fujiguys 3 months ago
How do you turn the DIS on? image stabilation
babeeshan9 3 months ago
@babeeshan9 It is on by Default. In the SETUP menu, go to the s DUAL IS Mode option. 3 Options to choose form. Continuous, Shooting Only, and OFF. Continuous: DIS is always in operation, Shooting Only, DIS operates when you press the shutter button to take the picture, Off: DIS is off (No Stabilization)
fujiguys 3 months ago
@fujiguys thank you very much!
One more question
Can this camera take FAST pictures as the D3S or D3X? I know it has a continous button, but it takes long time to save the pictures.
- How do i take fast pictures, but that i dont have to wait for the pictures to save?
babeeshan9 3 months ago
@babeeshan9 The S2950 offers a highspeed shooting mode of up to 8fps however the camera does prevent you from accessing the menu while it finish recording all the continuous images. Having a faster rated memory card can reduce the write time but is no where near the speed of a professional camera like the D3S or D3X.

@fujiguys thank you veeeeeeeeeery much!

onutzica1994 3 months ago
@onutzica1994 In the Panorama mode, the ISO is set to AUTO and can't be changed. Depending on the lighting situation, the camera may pick the lower ISO (if lighting is bright enough)

Whitsnag88 4 months ago
@Whitsnag88 For HD video, ensure you have a Class 4 card or higher otherwise the video recording may start. If you have a class 4 card, try formatting the card first using the camera.

Does this has a manual focus mode like we want to blur the far away thing or close one. .... ???
kaushikdeep99 4 months ago
@kaushikdeep99 MF is not avaialbe on this camera. Aperture actually controls the "Depth of field" on the camera which this camera does offer however due to the sensor size, creating shallow depth of field is more difficult. Best tip is to stand further back and then zoom in on the subject. This will help isolate the subject and focus.

I can't seem to play vidoes or delete pics in playback mode. The little squares made of smaller squares just keeps moving like it is always loading. Am I doing something wrong?
dagnym1 4 months ago
@dagnym1 To play videos in the playback mode, press "down" on the direction pad. To delete images, go into the menu in the playback mode and select "delete -> All Frames". If you still have issues, try using a card reader to save both images and video to your computer, then place the card back to your camera and "Format" it using the camera, via SETUP menu. *ensure you save your files to the computer first before formating the card

kaushikdeep99 4 months ago
@kaushikdeep99 S2950 is not a direct comparison to the Olympus 800uz. S2950 offers 18x zoom, 800uz offers 30x zoom. S2950 SRP is $200, 800uz SRP is $350. Image quality however should be similar. S2950 offers Electronic viewfinder (800uz does not have this). Other than zoom, cameras are very similar and S2950 offers better bang for the bucks.

mingszen 4 months ago
@mingszen No. This is not an EXR model and so it does not have a EXR -CMOS sensor or EXR Processor.
fujiguys 4 months ago
I was thinking of getting a camera like that, but I don't want one if I have to put batteries in it.
mercyhurstchic 4 months ago
@mercyhurstchic All cameras requires batteries. This camera uses 4xAA. Buy some good low discharged NiMH batteries and you will be all set. AA are cheaper to replace and can be used for emergencies when you forgot to charge the batteries. AA NIMH can give you approx 500 shots per charge.
fujiguys 4 months ago
@fujiguys I understand that, what I meant was I don't want a digital camera in which I have to put AA batteries in it. I rather have a ion lithium battery that is rechargeable.
mercyhurstchic 4 months ago
@mercyhurstchic I see. Unfortunately, the S2950 uses only AA type batteries. But truthfully, AA on this camera last longer than most Li-ion batteries. If you compare this to a DSLR with a LI-ion, it is different as with DSLR uses less LCD and is more mechanical therefore last longer.

Can you manual focus with the lens?
manymermaids 5 months ago
@manymermaids There is no Manual focus on this camera. Auto Focus, Continuous Auto Focus, Face Detection.
fujiguys 4 months ago
@TheAirsoftBrotherz Not long. I suggest picking up a set of Low Discharged NiMH AA Batteries right from the start. Sanyo Eneloop are a good choice.

Just purchased the 2950...can you tell me what the yellow pic of a camera means that i see in the screen sometimes ...just starting to figure this cam out ...very pleased so far
twincamca 5 months ago
@twincamca Yellow pic of camera indicates the camera may be using a slow shutterspeed due to the lighting in the area. Camera Shake may be possible. If you pop the flash, you will notice it goes away since shooting with the flash, the camera will use a shutterspeed of at least 1/60s. If you don't want to use flash, try increasing the shutter by change ISO or sensitivity of the camera.

Can you get a flash for this camera
Thewilko1234 5 months ago
@Thewilko1234 There is no hotshoe on this camera for an external flash. There are 3rd flashes that can attach to the bottom of the tripod mount of this camera and extends to the side. It is triggered by the cameras onboard pop-flash flash optically. Google.

JonahRamey 5 months ago
@JonahRamey The camera does not have threads to attach add-on filters or lens. I have seen some 3rd party adapters that attaches to the camera via tension screws and adds an option to add filters/lens adapter. I would google.

@fujiguys So I heard this can take 720p HD Video! That is Great! But I was wondering. Can you take 720p Video for 7 or 8 minutes each clip, or in all?

@JonahRamey Maximum video file size is 2GB which equals to 8 mins max per clip at 720p. You can record multiple clips and then use software to join or edit them.

MrSTRIKER52 6 months ago
@MrSTRIKER52 The zoom is approx 504mm. You can get pretty close however you may need to "pre-focus" on a distance subject prior to taking the photo to reduce the delay time between taking the picture and the camera capturing the shot. Also, a tri-pod would be ideal too.

badger123ranran 6 months ago
@badger123ranran If recording a normal CRT TV, you will get those refresh lines, if filming LCD, than its better however i still wouldn't say this is the best way to film you playing video games. I would look for a device that can capture video output from your game console instead.

do you think this camera is as good as cameras like the nikon d90?
meizzzcool2259 7 months ago
@meizzzcool2259 They are completely different cameras and class. The D90 is a D-SLR camera with abiity to change lenses. The D90 sits between amateur and mid- level photographers. The S2950 is more like a Point and Shoot with a SLR like look to it offering great zoom and features. With good lighting, image quality may be comparable to a certain extent however with the ability to add lens that cost $1500+, there is no doubt which would be better :-).

@fujiguys does it have auto flash? or do u have to push a button for the flash to come out?
seaboo143 6 months ago
@seaboo143 The flash is open manually by pushing the button to the left of the flash. Then, within the camera, there is a "Auto" flash setting that will fire the flash when needed. The Auto flash does not pop-up on its own however.

I have a problem. I just bought this camera about a week ago. And yesterday while i was playing a video on the camera, the sound was starting to break down and now my camera doesn't have sound. Silent mode is off and the volumes are up. No sound comes from the speaker. Please help.
iamfromsouthpole 7 months ago
@iamfromsouthpole If you already "Reset" the settings via the SETUP menu and the problem still exist, you might want to go back to the retailer. few things to check before, Do you hear the video when downloaded to your computer? also, When playing back the video, press the "menu/ok" button during playback, a volume setting should appear, make sure it's not turned down.
fujiguys 7 months ago
@fujiguys Didn't work. And yes, I can hear the volume while playing it on the computer or TV. It's just the speaker thats probably messed up.
