I agree, Here in the UK we do not have a dedicated country music radio station. There was one some years ago called "London Country" which played old and new but that closed and where I live in the London area we have nothing. Thanks for your comment.

The most interesting fact about this song is that Jim recorded it on October 15, 1959, at the same session he recorded his biggest hit, "He'll Have To Go". Chet Atkins and Jim decided afterwards that it was too much of a "novelty song", and were going to discard it, but Mary Reeves loved it and kept the tape (as she did so many others that ended up being released after Jim died). The song was finally released in late 1966, and was a very big posthumous hit for Jim.

I remember when I was 12 years old, I was listening to the radio when the DJ interupted the song that was playing. He said news just came over the wire saying that Jim Reeves had just died in an airplane accident. For the rest of the day the station was playing all of Jim's songs.

My dad bought this (with "But You Love Me Daddy" on the flip-side) as a single for me on my fifth birthday back in August 1968; still have the single in very good condition. Loved Jim Reeves ever since - the country singing equivalent of Nat King Cole.

How lovely to hear that you treasure the record so much to keep it in good condition. "But You Love Me Daddy" was the 1st video that I made in memory of my daughter. I then remade it as her 40th birthday tribute in August 2008 using photo from family albums. Both of which are still on this channel.
