@darkneji7 I'm getting it mostly for that reason. Up until this game, the games have just been getting too predictable for me, masking poor plot by throwing in new features. I was seriously contemplating giving up on pokemon (srs bsns) but after seeing this, I can't resist. It's seriously gotten me excited about it again! There's actual philosophical elements in here that will be stimulating for older audiences, and going over the heads of kids with still be entertaining due to game play.

Allow me to shed some light...

It is for all DS iterations. However, if you have a DSi or will be purchasing the 3DS, you have access to a feature that acts similar to that of iPhone's FaceTime. You can use it like a webcam and see players both on wireless and on Wi-Fi. Four people can do this on Wireless and two can do this on Wi-Fi.

Most people don't realize it, but the intro is telling us fans that this generation will be more story driven than the previous generations, so no more bland plots of simply stopping the evil tem and becoming the champion, the intro is telling us to expect many twists and turns in the story.
