It's a Ford Racing 460. Actually it's way more expensive than a GT, but the customer wanted it. Definitely a head turner when the hood is popped. As far as headers, they are custom made. We didn't have to do anything to the firewall. Just a custom K-member and it fit int there like it was made for it. We were nervous about it and was happy at the results.
i have a 4.6 3v , its a short block but im building her up little by little in the garage, can you tell me more or less what im missing to do the swap into an 08 v6, and a rough estimate on how much your shop would charge me to put everything in. Its Auto not standard but i heard that the 4.6 will bolt right into it. Any help would be nice about to give up on her
are you kidding me? the crates alone start from 3k and that one was probably 8-9, the whole engine bay had to have custom fabbed motors mounts too and a bunch of other stuff, probably cost in the high 5 digits for the engine installation alone
@rrtx2007 why couldnt this be street legal?? its not like engines like this wernt fitted in the 60s and 70s etc etc... it has catalysts (or could have catalysts) it meets safety regulations. Hell you could even insure this car as a V6 and it would be cheap as hell!

i have an 07 sixxer and is governed at 117mph (US). all you need is a simple hand held tuner and you get some extra HP and that speed limiter is gone.
I was told that as I have an `09 model pony package, the tires and drive shaft, should be able to handle the extra power, as in the earlier models they could fail, not sure if that is true.
nah, they only had problems with 05-06 driveshafts exploding but that was fixed. i believe stock internals can handle up to 400hp. the rear end isnt too strong though. but yes the base model tires are horrible lol.
@ASSEMblerEX this swap would cost about 50k to do man.. dont kid yourself... just in raw parts your looking at 25k easy... nevermind all the custom fabrication, tuning, computer software to keep everything safetywise working, mods required to suspension components, labor, and just the sheer OH SHIT THIS MIGHT NOT WORK factor... i could take a 4.6l GT to 550k with 8600 Bux... (vortech blower, better breathing intake, ported heads, lowered compression ratio (8.5ish). But this is way cooler!

LOL!!!.. are you kidding?.. since when do we loose 100 to the wheels? do we have independent rear susp.?.. no.. we arent talkin about a Goat here.. stock GTs are "300".. to the wheels thats like 260 something.. theres no way in hell hes loosing 100 hp from the flywheel to the rear wheels, on a s197.. call me crazy..
410HP = 350RWHP. Not bad. He could have just bought a GT and supercharged it to make 410RWHP. Thats what im going to do, instead of swapping engines and stuff.
He also could have S/C the V6. with heads and cams that car could easily make 390rwhp.
Waiting on the rain to break.. We had a pinched wire in the fuel pump that made me loose fuel pressure at woot. After new plugs, fuel filter pulled the gt500 pumps twice, 60# injectors we found a wire wasn't seated in a hrness good and she runs like a champ now. I'm shooting for mid 11's on ET streets
and for the dude that put this badass in.. uh.. damn.. where are you at and how much you charge? i could put everything togather.. just would have a prob with getting a damn 500 lb engine in my car without destroying it.. i think i just need a new driveshaft.. stock ones suck.. i already have dual exhaust.. and of course cut outs.. :) anything else??

Not long at all. The V6 came out with no problem, that is at the time it was new and nothing had rust on it yet. If you had the k member already modified/replaced for use with a 8 cyl, should be a day's work if everything fit properly - exhaust, fuel lines, driveshaft, and motor/trans to body clearance.

to the ownwer of the car: nicely done. I am assuming this is a stroker small block. Pleas post the details. Is this a roush motor or a ford ford racing crate engine or? Let us know. Its a very well executed install....very snaitary with excellent attention to detail. Transmission and rear end details as well would be great.
A guy by the name of Jim Weigle bought a new 05 GT and put a 427 SOHC engine in it. The engine had a duel quad set up and made 662 hp @ 6900 rpms and 545 ft lbs of torque.

Too bad Ford doesn't produce a car with a 460 or 427 SOHC or push rod engine. However they do offer the S197 302 boss.

To the people at DWFSTANGS net, Michigan doesn't have emissions testing thats manditory. It was a few years ago, by few, I mean more than a decade. The whole system was ripped out,including the system under the trunk floor. Then a breather vent tube was welded to the pass. side sending unit and connected to the filler neck. And a vented gas cap was added.

I think the customer spent around $50,000+, that's with the car.I live near a speed shop and they want us to bring it up there.But I kind of want the customer there to brag his head off.
The fuel system is not vented, we vented it to in order to make the fuel return work correctly.Now we figured the remaining gas was going to the passenger side of the tank, instead of the fuel pump side.The tank has a hump in the middle to clear the driveshaft. We should have it figured out in a couple of days.
Thanks! We had alot of bugs to work out. The customer took it home and had to bring it back. What happened was when the gas got below 1/4 tank,it would act like it was running out of gas.

We're still tweaking it on the dyno. So far it's 451hp & 462lbs torque @ the rear tires. It supposed to be a 550hp crate motor - at the flywheel, so the numbers are pretty close, but is always best to get more power. I'm sure the customer wants more. I would too! One can never have enough!

A gt engine is only 300HP at the crank, maybe 270 at the wheels. This engine is 550 HP ! It's also simpler, easier to mod and cheaper to run.
The new Supercharged ford is maxed out at 450hp and needs about $9000 in work to hit 550.
For $9000 you can buy this engine. It also sounds like pure sex.

You dont use the car's computer system. They are not compatible. Probably cost around 15k or more with labor.

Most states adopted emmision rules..
You have to consider the weight of the car.. unlike a Fox Chassis this car is a tank..
a 347 N/A is like 410Hp.. that's 310RWHP.. big deal..
I would have put a supercharger on the V6..

to the ownwer of the car: nicely done. I am assuming this is a stroker small block. Pleas post the details. Is this a roush motor or a ford ford racing crate engine or? Let us know. Its a very well executed install....very snaitary with excellent attention to detail. Transmission and rear end details as well would be great.

CORRECTION: That article about the 427 SOHC engine in an 05 GT is in the July 07 issue of 5.0 & super ford magazine.
I would like a 460 or 427 in my 06 GT, talk about a sleeper!!

A guy by the name of Jim Weigle bought a new 05 GT and put a 427 SOHC engine in it. The engine had a duel quad set up and made 662 hp @ 6900 rpms and 545 ft lbs of torque.
In the July issue of 5.0 Magazine & super fords has an article about this car, check out.
Too bad Ford doesn't produce a car with a 460 or 427 SOHC or push rod engine. However they do offer the S197 302 boss.

To the people at DWFSTANGS net, Michigan doesn't have emissions testing thats manditory. It was a few years ago, by few, I mean more than a decade. The whole system was ripped out,including the system under the trunk floor. Then a breather vent tube was welded to the pass. side sending unit and connected to the filler neck. And a vented gas cap was added.

I think the customer spent around $50,000+, that's with the car.I live near a speed shop and they want us to bring it up there.But I kind of want the customer there to brag his head off.

The fuel system is not vented, we vented it to in order to make the fuel return work correctly.Now we figured the remaining gas was going to the passenger side of the tank, instead of the fuel pump side.The tank has a hump in the middle to clear the driveshaft. We should have it figured out in a couple of days.

Thanks! We had alot of bugs to work out. The customer took it home and had to bring it back. What happened was when the gas got below 1/4 tank,it would act like it was running out of gas.

We're still tweaking it on the dyno. So far it's 451hp & 462lbs torque @ the rear tires. It supposed to be a 550hp crate motor - at the flywheel, so the numbers are pretty close, but is always best to get more power. I'm sure the customer wants more. I would too! One can never have enough!
