Hi Majnu , dont play the Dragon, u will get mated loads of times on the H-file. I think its not that good of an opening. Like Fischer said, Sac Sac mate.
second, chessfanatyc, i think queen vs pawn for 2 rooks, black queen always win, cause, the king is exposed, this is the first reason, but the second is that white can create more easy a free pawn than white. the only good is that white knite is stronger that the black bishop. firebird say =/- but it won't be easy
In the past our teachers were always the grandmasters and worldchampions, nowadays our teachers are the computers. They play , solve and compose . So have a look at youtube.com :
it is always easy to analyse a match after it is played...but calculating what your opponent is going to do, while playing is something extremely different, and i believe that both knew what they were doing and tryed something by their moves
I am not even a master and I have calculated more than 20 moves - that is 40 moves by white and black. However that is really only in certain positions (and often from a given position in a book and rarely OTB) and in an actual game that would be almost never. Usually I have trouble seeing 5 moves. And of course it is so easy to miscalculate.
Why doesn't black leave castling for later (and play normal development and trade knight vs bishop at c4)and put h5 to stop pawn storm and then guard his black bishop so it can't be exchanged. Then you can castle when u need the extra rook to attack!
It depends on the position. In the opening a player might not even think two moves ahead because they are playing the main lines, even in a complicated position a Gm will only think 10 or so moves ahead.
Still, what an ending by Kasparov. It's the sort of stuff I constantly miss from my game and makes me feel inferior, then again you can't argue with the best. 5/5,
I just have a question about a move in the video, at 5:04 after black plays Rxc2 attacking white's queen, what would happen if white decided to trade his queen for black's 2 rooks? (...Rxc2, Qxc2 Rxc2, Kxc2)
Would you say the queen is better here or the 2 rooks? Materially it seems an even trade (Q+P for R+R) although white's king does then become exposed.
Thanks for posting these excellent videos! 5 stars and favourited.
wow Kasparov is magnificent. At first I didn't see the way black could win because I was looking for a way to mate or go up a piece. I knew the obvious rook takes pawn then Ka3. Then in the three seconds before the move I saw the rook taking on c2 and then getting the discovered check and I nearly fell out of my chair. Kasparov, the dreaded.
i have playing dragon for 2 years Im 17, I have 2479 of rating fide, Now I'm IM, and i have to say that the Dragon, its adynamic and so beatifull way of palyisn sicliilina, butt, is not enough, if withe wants draw, they get it, and also the best trys is insteaed of 0-0-0 . h4,, i suggest try , shevenigen, , normally there is always a winner, not draw !!!!!!! :D
I have played the Dragon nearly 40 years...beating many Gm's and IM's with it in blitz.OTB black has the obvious maze as a huge advantage .White can force a draw against the Dragon with 9.0-0-0 in the Yugoslav...so not seen often.Black has fair chances to maintain dynamic equality...and more if needed.
in tennis it's federer, in golf it's woods, in basketball was jordan. In chess it's kasparov.

it's funny how grandmasters slip up and miss moves like this.

Hi,
White would be in big trouble then because of the exposure of the white king.
For example:
Qxc2, Rxc2
Kxc2, Qxa2 and black threatens to continue the attack with Ba4+

Probably at high level the 9.0-0-0 draw variations works. But at my amateur level everthing is posible. :)
