  • Did Federer mention the umpire challenge, I think he should have, and say if that was the first time he used the F word.

  • Nothing to do with fortune.

JMDP simply refused to lose that match. Roger could only stare in disbelief

  • You can't beat an upset.

  • had he won that he woulda had all 4 in january what a comeback afta losin 3 finals by nadal

  • Federer will win the US Open and Wimbledon this year, and the Olympics in 2012. He will retire after the Olympics.

  • Yes you CAN win them all Roger!!!!

  • WOW does Federer actually lose?...just look how many Grand slams he has and how many finals he has been in!...what makes a GREAT champion is knowing what it is like to lose! and getting up and winning!...easy said...nearly impossible to do!...HE IS THE BEST PLAYER EVER we are lucky to witness this tennis Genuis!

  • @Makhecha He lost this in a devastating way but turned around and won the Australian open. Definetly has the heart of a champion

  • Roger Federer .Grand Slam Champion 15

    3 Titles Australian Open

    1 Titles Roland Garros

    6 Titles Wimbledon

    5 Titles US Open

    Career Grand Slam Complete

    21 Grand Slam Finals 1st

    237 Consecutive Weeks as 1st .22 Straight Grand Slam Semi-Finals 1st

  • @federerbestclass He losses this one. But he wins #16 in his very next slam. As we've seen again this year, right now (Cincy), you can keep Federer down, but not for long!

I wonder what will happen to Del Potro?

  • Roger is hot ... love

  • @federerbestclass

    Also Dolgopolov love.

  • LOLOL

  • Roger Federer Best. Roger is hot...love..

  • everyone has his ups and downs and so federer...

  • Well put nhadz16. You can't win them all, but Fed comes close. I think it's unbelievable that guys like Fed and Nadal can maintain such a high level for so long given all the factors involved.

  • he's a dad now... that's his main concern i would say but you should let him know about your ideas and see...

  • Federer won 2 Slams this year and got to two finals(losing in 5 sets to Del Potro and Nadal who you said would "EAT him").I don't think a 5 set loss is being "eaten". How can he be physically weak and win 2 slams and be in all 4 finals...

  • Roger Federer Best !! roger love!

  • Federer is a great man!

How many people could and would play a final after less than 22 hours after the semi???

  • I'm a Federer fan, but Nadal did it in Australia with less time between semi and final.

  • nop... friday then sunday...

but they shouldn't do that if you want to be correct. for the love of the game.

  • Fairly certain Federer injured himself or came into the match with some problems, or else his first serve would have never been so bad. He said right now his arm and his leg are hurt and he badly needs a vacation. Of course he would have never admitted that right after his loss. All credit to Del Po tho he really gave Federer a tough match. Darren Cahill said it would go the distance... he always seems to come up with the right predictions!

  • if he's crossed 50 mil. on court, just quintuple that off court. he must have a quarter billion dollars

  • c'mon guys

    its roger

i mean surely he will win more slams

    including some us opens

while del potro only will watch some

    of them on tv !!!

  • ROGER LOOSER!!!

  • and what are you then????????? you must feel lonely...

  • Well to start with, Del Potro did play well.

But whoever thinks that Del Potro outplayed Federer is mistaken. Del Potro did win the match, but it was not entirely because he had master shots and superb technique.

It was simply Federer's lax attitude towards the end of the game where you could clearly see Federer did not care if he won or not. Even after the match, Federer appears calm unlike Australian Open where Federer really wanted to win but could not. Guess Federer gave up trying at the end

  • what worries me is, that Federer lost the second GS final this year due to weak serving and possible bad shape in the fifth set. Both in Melbourne and in NY.

Anyway, I have never seen such brilliant forehands, both Federer and Del Potro.

Del Potro forehand worked and was better in the final.

  • he did look lack luster his atempts to hold serve in the final were poor and when he lost he didnt seem to care which isnt a good sign. in basel he was gripping his back alot during the match with seppi

  • roger will recover his throne next year

the same way he did in wimbledon

    go roger

you are by far the best player right now

and definitely the best player ever !!!

  • he let this one get away damn it, i was at work, and getting bored thinking he was going to rip del potro.....dissapointed but del potro is a good guy, federer needs to lose sometimes to simply garner some motivation and dig deeper

  • I am glad for DelPo as a human being. To me Fed has never been a great champion - because he is not happy? He thinks fame, achievment, riches, marraige will give. He has all - but not happy! If he goes in wind-storm for few hours still & silent, he will know he is nothing - then he will be happy always! Hope for him.

  • hes amazing~~such a class act...

    congrats Juan Martin!

  • Juan Martin, you are GREAT! I love your power and your will. You are so humble and so respecful that you make us feel proud of being Argentinian. Hope you never change! I am sure this is just the beginning of many finals you will win!

  • he had d most amazing summer and a great run to the finals...back to d no. 1....15 GS titles....got married....became a dad....wat a year for rog...RF ur my idol...!!!

  • ass. not a word of how del potro kicked his ass; shadows, a mistake in the second set cost him the match? come on... he just couldn't contain del potro. simple as that.

  • maybe he had a cramp or something. he beat him one time ever, well see what happens next time

  • Poorcku: Actually he did have del potro on the ropes and was two points for winning the championship in the third set I believe or fourth . This is not to say Del Potro didn't play a great match but yeah Federer almost put him away too - it's not an excuse - it's the truth - the other truth is Del Potro outplayed him over the long haul and did a good job to get the win.

  • Yes, it's true that he couldn't contain Delpo. But it's also true that Roger's strategy was wrong. Is he already in love of his maestro image? I mean it seems he was playing an exhibition in the 2 set. And then he played a lot of balls to delpo's stronger drive.

  • obviously didn't watch it, and if you did (or not) you clearly don't know much about tennis, let alone about Federer's tennis

  • too bad...my favourite player

  • I'm glad he is not bitting himself up and enjoying the well he played all 2 weeks.

  • His english is getting better.

  • his english has always been fine. you just mean he's developing a better american accent.

  • Federer? When ever has his English been bad? What a really bizarre comment. He's always for all the years I've known spoken it quite well.
