  • Ur kit def. looks like the one from Vinnie in the orginal video

  • sorry to say this, but you might want to practice your timing in 5/8 a little more. you can tell your not relaxed playing this song, good attempt though! keep it up

  • I am fuckin' amazed.

  • awesome, man!

  • I thought that this was a song from Bullet For My Valentine :D

  • @ThePlasticFish1 Fuck that

  • @ThePlasticFish1 Youre an complete idiot.

  • @DanielMcBrain Sorry. I cant help it.

  • To Nemesais & 101Zorker: Wow, sorry if my post did not come across well. As I said, I think the cover playing is outstanding and that this could pass for any great player including Vinnie. The audio on the videos on youtube is not always the best so I'm sure in his actual mix, it sounded unreal. I simply made some suggestions that have helped my playing especially on difficult songs like this. Did you read "great ,great work"....what part of that did you guys not get. It is a fantastic job. OK!

  • Do you have a CD or MP3 with A to B repeat? If not get one, now! You can loop any sections of the song and play them over and over especially the transitions. For the haters out there, with proper mixing and miking this cover could pass for any top notch drummer on the market. You captured all the essence of the drum groove throughout. Great great work. Do try to watch DVDs of the greats to see how relaxed they are. Make sure you are aware of your breathing tendencies while playing. Relax, relax

  • @Golfforme Try uploading a video or two of your drumming, cool? Because until you do, nobody gives a fuck what you think. :)

  • @Golfforme Bro... 30+ years of drumming... I don't know who you are, but if you are gonna give advice to someone as pro as this, who probably has been playing for longer than you've been able to talk, you'd better have something to back it the hell up with, if not: then you can suck his sweaty nut sack.

  • Hey Bro: Great job! This song is not easy that's why Sting hired Vinnie. Try to pay attention to dynamics because that is the only thing I heard lacking. Catch some videos of Vinnie and see how he is totally engrossed in even the most simple beats. I've set up my kit like Mangini and play everything leading with left or right hands or feet. I switch up during any tune I play. I also have an aux left pedal to play perc parts (tambo, clave, etc.) My independence and ambidext have skyrocketed.

  • Ok - now I'm just going to sell my kit - either that or play it 24/7!

    Nice work.

  • hey check out RGBUK TV, he does a seven days drum cover which is unbelievable, so tight!!!! almost faultless!!!!

  • somewhat insensitive, hard

  • The drummers should be the more friendly musician.

    Don´t troll, assholes.

  • First time I watched this, I think it were sooo easy..

But when I tried to play it, I survived like 2 mins...

    Then I gone mad...

Believe me, this song is harder to play than it looks!

  • @ThreeNoobFilms dude the thing that makes this song hard to play is not the speed, how everything comes together and the two different feelings of rythm in the song makes this really hard to play. And I love the fact that you covered a song like this one, a different style than all the tool and slipknot songs you covered, although I really love tool and danny's drums I think it's important to know how to play a song like seven days. great job!!!!!! I'm a fan of your covers :)

  • i would say that the beat in the verses of this song is actually pretty easy for being 5/8...its the fills, the small off-beat details and the chorus which is so damn ball-crushing hard! really gj, one of the best covers ive seen on this song!!

  • @Met4Lz0r i agree the beat in the verse is easy as long as you know you hit a cross stick right after the piano

  • I think that the difference is that you have different style of playing than that which is required for this song and thats the reason you find it harder to play than tool or slipknot who you cover perfectly.

  • I am literally laughing at all these ppl saaying "terrible.." You'd have to be a total and complete moron to not understand how HARD this song is on drums.. I know it on guitar and its a piece o cake but the drums are terribly complex . Good job!

  • you play it too fast its not that fast especially the chorus

  • Nice going..

Like your end section there. Check out my version...lemme know what you think.

  • Pretty cool - one of the better covers on youtube.

Need to work on that flow though man - this feel SOOO stiff, but I know it's a hard song to play and groove on.

    Cool vids!

  • Stumbled on this looking at Tool vids. Thanks for introducing me to Vinnie and Sting's work. An amazing piece that sounds deceptively simple but isn't. Keep the vids coming. Love your work.

  • nice, you've got the chops, but you need to work on your groove

  • te lo digo de vuelta pelado, sos un groso gilaso xd

  • que bien que tocas peladon, sos un groso locon jaja xd

  • bad bad. men,.. you play drum´´s not identic with vinnie collaiuta- NEXXXTTTTTTTTT.

  • Great job! You look a little like Arjen Robben, lol

  • can't stand this song, but rather ace drumming :-)

  • 26 people missed the like button

  • Great job man! Have you seen the Joe Crabtree explanation of this song here on youtube? You've got it 99.9% down. Joe used to have the whole song posted, but now I think he has it in his website where he does online lessons. Awesome job! Big props bro! Have you ever been to the house of drumming website? You should check it out. There's lots of unreleased Vinnie clinic stuff there. Check it out.

  • holy crap. for a pop song this is pretty crazy intense.

  • Excellent job man. I agree that this is a tricky song & you rocked it. Judging by some of the comments, there's way too many haters/critics these days. But what's ironic is you don't see them posting response videos of them playing it themselves. Hmm...go figure. Anyway, kudos to you on this performance.

  • I gaze in admiration at your condition in my right hand during the complete song!

You're an incredible Drummer and the #1 Example for my Experience!

Thank you for playing the Songs of Tool!

    You're Amazing!

  • That's awesome dude...good job

  • Dear Bartel,

I love this song and your added groove is really outstanding. Nice job. Thanks bro.

Lukartes, eres baterísta, músico o crítico de música? Te pregunto porque derepente lo puedes hacer mejor...

  • It's in 5/8 not 5/4. :D

  • @thegrasman1 it is both, two measures of 5/8 equal one measure of 5/4. by how the hi hat goes, it is in 5/4. and this song is not that hard, it's great though, a coverable song. haha! this is very messy by the way, it is not relaxed at all.

  • Mad props!!

  • What books or dvds or anything that teaches technique for drummers would you recommend? I am so tired of sounding like the untought slum kid with a drum set that is out of tune and old. Please, what would you recommend to help teach technique, and I cant get a tutor.

  • Very good buddy. Don't you just love the quiet energy of this drum piece? It has a gradually building intensity to it, which you caught. I remember the first time I heard it, I didn't even let the cd continue until I heard it a couple more times. I love this kind of drumming

  • i was sitting there watching tool videos of other peoples covers....and got pissed off....i saw some of yours and was like "thank god someone who can keep a beat..." then i saw this video and freaked out!!!!!! this is a great cover, all of yours are. im not very fond of the sound of your kit but your playing makes it still great to listen to. thanks for your time and effort.

  • I'm commenting here because I can't comment on any of your Tool covers. Possibly because they got filled up with junk about the originals.

I love your style and will be waiting to see more. You are awesome.

  • when r u making a new video?

  • aww.. love that!

  • its not the idea weather Vinnie is "Better"....The awsom thing about music is...every musician brings something special to a song! Nice job! you have a very nice approach to the song...you made it your own and you are not trying to sound like Vinnie! Bravo!

  • i watch this video of yours ALL the time. It is a beautiful cover of a beautiful peice of musical art

  • This awsome cover and i know it look easy but this very difficult becuase this difficult groove and to get inside it you need to be very pro

    so good job

    *5 STARS*

  • too stiff and hard on your drumming... loosen up man.... anyway, good job...

  • sei un idolo!!! grandissima cover!!

  • You look like you're having so much fun playing. I cant wait until I get to the level you are at. Both insanely accurate and you dont look like you're struggling whatsoever. Freakin aweome man keep it up!

  • sick shit !! Tbartels007 is the most versatile and accurate drummer on youtube... and just after him... drummerdbrown21... they just love the same drumming that I do....

  • It sure is 5/8 on the hi-hat, dude. Other than that, it's nice version all though it differs from the original Colaiuta idea.

  • the body is playing in 5/8 while his hand plays 4s. not an easy song but i got it after several months of failing to get close.

  • I like that you do a good cover and look like you're enjoying yourself and are into it. Thanks for the video!

  • dam perfectly done !!good job!!

  • not that it'll change the way you play it, but it's 5/8 mate.

the phrase carries across the bar, in the accents, so that the high-hat resolves every two bars. it's on every other count: ONE two THREE four FIVE one TWO three FOUR five.

but, like i said, that's just about phrasing. it doesn't really change the way you play it.

  • blackcatcadillac let us see you do it please upload yourself look forward to seeing you do it right.

  • Good job, man! :)

  • Man you did a good job but seriously you need the groove the feeling of that music not because its 5/4 it is because that isent a 4/4 rock if you played like that it will be sound horrible seriously practice more groove songs but hey man great job

  • Very difficult track for a rock drummer.

    5:4 time.

    And man but it's tiring.

    Damn good effort.

    Great ride cymbal at 3.15.

  • Everyone gives him advice. Just let the man play he is good. He just has his own style :)

  • This isn't quite right.

Bloody good attempt though. Certainly better than I can manage.

    Well done,

  • man great cover, but it lacks the groove but on the other hand the its difficult because it what you say nothing is straight :D

    Did enjoyed it do

  • good cover but try to use more your fingers it would be all more smooth and clear...

  • what kind of drum mics do you use and how much are they?

  • Very nice, you don't have the soul Vinnie had because you are obviously not him. Still one of the best, if not the best cover of this song.

    Amazing drummer.

  • Yeah, he's better than me. Thanks for the nice words. Happy New Year!

  • You too! You should upload some more songs, I would really apreciate Disposition by Tool. Pretty awsome song, it's like Reflection with that relaxing trance inducing vibe. But only 5 minutes long.

If you will I will be looking forward to it.

    Peace

  • i agree ^^

nice cover but to me it sounds a little "heartless" because i didn't get the feeling that you got the rhythm to groove but that's very hard to do in this song

also i think it's noticeable that you play a lot of metal but as i said still a great cover

  • thankyou so much for doing this song :O

such a difficult song with the time signiature :P

but may i ask why you have your toms at such a ridiculous position? you must go through many drum heads :P

but still, very well done 5/5

  • 4.5... non fa neanche un fil uguale all'originale..bah...

  • you play well and with non mistakes this hard 5/4 tempo with the hi hat in 4/4. If i can say, it lacks the style of the song. you're too aggressive. the fills are hard rock style. but anyway best compliments this is a difficult song for drummers..

  • Real nice job on the grove brother, this is a very tricky song & thought you did a fantastic job. The off beat of Sting & Vinnie C. is some of the hardest technical pop stuff out there. Loved your work on the Tool & Slipknot. Gotta love Joey J drumming, I have his signature snare and love the sound & feel of it. Keep Rocking bro ~JerZ~

  • You´re playing very nice! Nice sense of Groove...yet you´re playing much more Notes than needed and that tends to make the Groove very shaky! This Song is all about Groove...play it more relaxed and less Chops! More Feel! Now it sounds like the Song is a bit over your Head and Playing Ability...

    Keep up! I´ll come...

  • Yet again, awesome! Keep it up man!

  • awsome!!!!!!

  • I watched most of your videos. You're great drummer! check mu video :) (sorry for mu bad english...)

  • run forest run :)

  • Royal Sir!!

  • I dig the splash underneath your tom.

  • nice man

  • I love it how people try act professional by slagging you off, brilliant by friend, 5/5

  • i know, maybe when they have mastered this song they can try adding their own improv. to it and make comments like that

  • dude that was fucking tight. you rip shit up.

  • I love how that splash is below the toms

  • I really digg this song. Great drumming!

  • 'no excuses' by Alice In Chains. that's a very tricky song

  • What the hell... it's like impossible to find a vast rhythm in this song...

  • oh lets see 6 out of 5 maybe?

  • RE: "the hi hat pattern is way off ,and i do believe in this instance it is necessary ! plus the fills were way off !" -- I don't think he was going for a note-for-note copy. I think his interpretation was marvelous, and the tom fills & hi-hat work were very creative and well-done. Kudos! Why bother covering a song if you can't put your own style into it a bit?

  • WHAT GETS A 5 OUT OF 5?

btw, great cover. your an inspiration to all aspiring drummers

  • 5 out of 5

    The Black Dahlia Murder

What A Horrible Night To Have A Curse

  • rockband fag

  • I don't even own that fucking game you retard.

Sorry but you cant judge everyone on one game and when a song is mentioned from that game then obviously i play/own that game?

Wrong i dont like rockband. I sold my guitar hero because it was a waste of my time, and I dont listen to music other then underground or semi-underground Metal anymore. So dont fucking judge people based on a fucking game.

    "FAG"

  • i mean, its either that or

    As Blood Runs Black

My Fears Have Become Phobias, but thats not too bad. Try something with Triple Bass pedal sometime though,

    Blessed The Fallen

    Albright.

  • and the faster the pedal is, it doesnt mean its harder...do some research on drumming lol

  • syncopation is much more difficult than speed.

  • lol wrong. thats more like 3. all it is is speed. technically, it's simple. dont get clouded by rock band mate lol

  • the hi hat pattern is way off ,and i do believe in this instance it is necessary ! plus the fills were way off !! nice attempt !!

  • that's not the correct hi hat pattern ..

  • I've always been a fan of your work and i'm always intrigued by your drum covers. It's difficult to really criticize seeing as how I can't even drum this well- even so- I never here a single beat missed. Very good work, and keep it up. Your a huge inspiration i've drummed for 4 years and hope to reach a level somewhere near yours in the future. Keep it up!

  • I still find myself, a year later, coming back to your youtube profile checking to see if you uploaded any new gifts for us, and watching some of your Tool Vids. Thanks again 4 sharing, and keep up the outstanding work.

  • should do clouds over california by devildriver

  • wow!!!

    this is great!

I was a fan of sting when I was 9 years old :p

now, 5 years later, I watch you cover... the song is great

and you played it great too!

  • good but not a good fan of the song not going lie. stay with tool and them:)

  • that must take a lot of consintracion or vocus

  • pretty crazy .... but .... omg its awesome don't know what else to say ... cool drums looking expensive =)

  • Sooo awsome man.. I comment here cause can't on Tool covers. Tool is my favorite band and I rly like the way you're playing drums.. Awsome fills everywhere... and look at this video quality.. Awsome man.. all what I got to say

  • wow i didnt even like this song till i heard you play it your crazy good

  • omg amazingly GREAT 10/10

  • Why do you have no screw on the crash cymbal all the way on the right?

  • he dosent want that tight un free flowing sound.

  • Ahhhhh.

  • 11/10 superb fella.

    Vinne would be proud :)

A track I always played in my dreams.

  • give

echelon by 30 seconds to mars

    or

    Alligator Pie by dave mathews

    a try

  • Jeez.. listen to the rhythms he is playing before posting. Just because it isn't your style of music doesn't mean it isn't good. Great job, fantastic stuff. I love watching your videos, keep em coming :)

  • very nice job you should have more publicity. Very nice song as well. Don't listen to people who just want you to play metal. Your taste in music is very diverse good job!

  • 4.5/5? compared to ticks and leeches which is longer and harder i find it hard to see how this song is of equal toughness. Perfectly done tho :0

  • It's tougher cause of all the rhythms going on at once. Great cover.

  • In all fairness, Ticks and Leeches has more things going on; however, this song is still a challenge.

  • lol Rosetta Stoned. harder then ticks and leeches.

  • You covered that?!

  • not all of it, im in the process of learning it, but to me its harder then ticks and leeches.

  • I thought you were tbartels. Turns out he did cover it.

  • i love this song...

    perfect :D

  • you should start your own band ur way better than alot famous drummers

  • hes a lot fuckin better than you fuckface, get a life, y do u feel the need to publically atack people just to gain notority on your own level, thats unfortunate

  • Lars Ulrich is a bum.

He should come watch some of tbartels' videos, maybe he could learn a thing or two about technical playing.

Or just go back to collecting art and playing tennis, seems like a better fit for him anyways.

  • Lars is good his beats are just very uncreative

  • That was awesome

  • you get a better quality camera or something? seems clearer.

  • i thought this would be like heavy metal like your other stuff, but this is so cool!

  • haha do you not know who sting is? He isnt heavy metal by any means....obviously

  • WONDERFUL

  • would you do me the favour, posting me what kind of set you have?

    regards zabu

  • look at his profile

  • Check his profile.

  • that was beautiful playing and if anyone think it was bad they can go post their own video of playing this so we can all talk about how bad u suck at life. i think this man has done very well with what he loves doing and if u dont like him go shove i knife in your eye :).

  • wow, although I don't play the drums, I wish I could play like you. When it sounds right to the ear, it is good... to me it sounds just like to record.

  • sounds just like the record!

  • not really.

  • First off, I think this is a tasteful and enlightening rendition of Colaiuta's playing. Second off, do all of you arguing against this man's drumming even know HOW to play drums? I've been drumming for years, mainly within the ska, reggae, and jazz genres, and I found NO flaws in this man's technique. So unless you all have legitimate criticisms, as opposed to the vague complaints you are currently tossing around, please, kindly shut up and enjoy the song.

  • Thats what alot of people need to hear.. ive seen alot of people criticizing people's playing

  • fuck u

  • feel is not right and your working to hard when your playing look at your right hand...back to the pad...but other than that well done

  • i love you bro.

  • ur are 1 of the best drummer I have ever see

  • i have watched you do this song 40 times in the last 3 days......amazing..... your a very good drummer..... i found you finding TOOL covers believe it or not...... very cool song bro!!!!

  • nice one man well done

  • Your general feel is all off, you're making it out harder than it than it really is - not that Vinnie isn't a master, but you barely 2 stars on this one bro - for at least recognizing the great drum work of Vinnie on this song. Stick to the blast beat, doom metal thrashing neanderthal stuff for the little kiddies. ;)

  • Shut the fuck up

  • that was the most nonconstructive comment anyone could have made. Shut up dude.

  • yours was the most hubris and stupid ass comment anyone could ever make - and you're too stupid to realize it - shit brain.

  • yes... because your use of the word hubris obviously makes you infinitely more intelligent than anyone else here. If you're so good then post a video of your cover of this song.

  • I actually thought this was a brilliant interpretation of his song. Maybe you were confused by the tuning & miking of the drums?

  • Confused? LOL! Hardly. If you think it was "brilliant" so be it. I think it was an example of a drummer lacking the understanding and a developed technique to play Fusion/ Jazz style rhythms - something some fan viewers (metal heads) are too juvenile to even perceive; I did rate it 2 stars for an honest effort.

For those whining about my comment like little boys, if you can't handle a little honest criticism, then you need to grow up.

  • If you claim to know about Fusion and Jazz style rhythms, you should point out concretely what is the problem with this man's playing with regards to those style rhythms. You need to say what he did wrong and what is the correct way to do that. Then it'll be more beneficial for both parties.

  • I don't have time to point out shit.
