if i were you i'd start by examining the patient from the front and ask the to turn their foot out. this way you can see the long saphenous vein throughout its entire course as it is anterior above the knee. You can ask the patient to turn round to inspect for the short saphenous.

Also i'd make the patient expose the groin: it would be very embarising to miss a groin scar for a high tie and venous stripping!!!!!

hmm why do u drain the veins on the lateral aspect of the thighs for the tourniquet test?

wasnt the long saphenous vein runs medial aspect of the leg and the short saphenous vein on the posterior aspect of the calf?

I have varicose veins on my ankle, and when its bad, all my feet veins pop out too. Sometimes the 1 vein is 1cm wide...

Went to the doctors, he said its normal in people, no worries, wear a leg brace. Thats it.... Not really helpful
