As a religious christian or messianic one may want to do as Jesus/Yeshua did and remember that "of the overflow of the heart the mouth speaks" and as a Jew one should distinguish between clean and unclean, kosher and non-kosher. A religious person should filter what they allow to come into their heart, so seeking out a musician who has values comparable to your own is a logical extension of that. It should be enjoyable too. Don't forget just because it feels good doesn't mean it is good

As a christian mystic, I can't describe how much joy I experienced in hearing about YLove on NPR. Yeah, kind of strange, mysticism, NPR, YLOVE, but this is very cool to me. I find it invigorating that a young baptist child felt the pull of God to Judaism for the purpose of bringing life & relavence to young people through a means of communication they understand--hip hop. Actually, before the label "Palestine" was used for that land, it was called Judea and Israel. It only got the name "Palestine" after the Romans invaded and conquered the homeland of the Jews. Muslims did not arrive in Israel until about 900 CE. Jews lived in Israel so-called Palestine long before there were Muslims and long before any Arab took the name Palestinian.

He is amazing, but I don't like how this video's description attributes him with the "revival of Aramaic" since it has never died. I regularly listen to "modern" music in a few different dialects of Aramaic everyday. With a collection of over 200 tapes and CDs in Aramaic, I cannot accept someone being given credit for reviving a language that has been alive and kicking for thousands of years.

Fair enough. Based on my education, the Jewish community in the US tends to overlook that Aramaic is used by people in and around Iraq, including among Kurdish Jews.

Actually, Jewish Kurds use Kurdish. The Kurdish language is related to Persian. Aramaic was used by those peoples influenced by the Babylonian/Assyrian empires. Aramaic was pushed out by the spread of Arabic after the Muslim conquests and expansions in the 7th and 8th centuries. Aramaic is still used by Jews in certain prayers and in the Talmud, and by Syrian Christians. It is also used in a couple of villages in Syria.

The Khazar stuff is nonesense. Undoubtedly, some European Jews could be related to the Khazars, but hardly the majority, the Khazars were never all Jewish; they included Muslims and Christians. Also, Ashkenazic jews spoke Yiddish which is heavily Germanic, whereas Khazars were of Turkish stock. Also, the New Testament already attests to Jewish communities in Italy and Greece.
