@omega1231 He was 16 when he did the audition last year. He turned 17 in Oct., he won in June. Your birthday must be earlier in the year, so you have already turned 18. He will be 18 this coming Oct.

So why do I like Scotty? When I was a teen a long time ago I sang in glee club (music requirement), then auditioned for concert glee club. I got in and am a baritone. Scotty can sing lower than I can. I've looked at his videos from audition to final and the improvement is amazing. He understands what the judges are looking for and he worked on it. From diamond in the rough he became more and more polished as the season went on, and became a diamond when he won Idol. His career = how many carats.
@hankakah jennifer lopez said that stuff about the diamond to paul mcdonald, Scotty and lauren who were just minors in the american idol image that had no real insight that made them unique like the artist like james pia jacob casey ETC; at least until they made it to the finale
@balotelli456 Scotty at the beginning is only 16, not much kids will have the insight to perform like that either. But you could tell even though a little rough, he has talent. I'm not a real country fan, I hear it occasionally. But all the intonations, southern drawl, you don't just start singing that way. He was only 3 and he idolized Elvis. So pretty much he's been doing that 13 years. Unique is when you are different from the others. I look at all the past AI, you don' t see another Scotty.

HIs Where Were You When the World Stopped Spinning, Letters From Home were a few of his sincere songs. HIs For Once in My Life was his pop hit turned country hit. @hankakah nobody said he was not a good artist nor ok performer yet if you ask an eager audience particularly an american idol audience they would not remember the specifics of the name of the song or even how he performed the song but if you ask them do you remeber james durbin's performance of artist on onheavy metal or jacob lusk's performance of god bless the child, scotty was not memorable, and he did nothing to contribute to the reason why us fans were affected by season 10 so much

JB has a younger following, like Teen magazine, He's cute (I suppose) , talented (I assume, never really watched him). But I think girls think of it like puppy love. SM on the other hand, has his low voice, sings like a man, strong virile, young. He attracts girls and women way older than he is. So JB is famous, cute, many young teen fans, SM sexy, talented,handsome attracts older women.
As long as he sticks to true country he should do fine, I think there will be to many people that will want to influence the Pop/Country Crap. Even this song isn't country the Travis Tritt version is more country.
