  • John mayer playing through a Jim Campilongo Rig. My two favourites!

  • Absolutely Sexy collab ;) I can't seem to get enough of THIS ;) I love it!!! #ShadesOfBlueMixedInWithRedToo ;) I want to hear some of this on the new masterpiece "Born & Raised"... Pretty please with a cherry on top??? 'Gia' XO

  • 1:01 is just pure magic

  • yeah no prob let me tune my drums while I keep grooving with my other hand!

  • After the 1000 times I watched this video I just noticed you can see John's right arm through some of it

  • 0:35 - 0:38 is played so smoothly and nonchalant. this dude is beast.

  • steve jordan is the man

  • I love this. So soulful!!!

  • One thing I love about John most (not including his Greek godly looks;) is that he loves what he does and it's not like a chore to have to go to the studio every day. He loves it and he is so passionate about what he's doing- and he's so good at it!! Keep up the great work, you never fail to keep me happy! Oh and could you pleasee tour sometime soon? Or have a concert (preferably in NASHVILLE)? Love you!

  • What is Steve Jordan doing from like 0:12 - 0:14

  • @sk8rbuoi

He's tuning his rack tom I believe

  • @MusicByAndyGibson Ok I thought so but I was under the impression that you had to loosen or tighten all of the nuts around the rim? Forgive my ignorance but I'm quite new to the drums

  • @sk8rbuoi I'm not a drummer, but I guess he's adjusting his drum set while he's playing! Awesomeness

  • @sk8rbuoi tuning the drum

  • no pedals? sounds amazing.

  • john, steve's jam is just perfection.

  • those cymbals are so expensive.

  • @ryodhino i'd imagine so, if they're anywhere near good enough for Steve

  • 8 people have never had the blues

  • FUCKING DISGUSTING

  • @almostlover72 /watch?v=i50FqZUJup0&feature=related

watch this at 6:09 and you will see what i mean!

  • @almostlover72 haha be less of a musician. u idiot

  • On top of all that groove, dig the phoenix drums... He makes any drum set an instant need to have... Jordan is theeeee shit !

  • Fuck Travis Barker. There hasn't been such a great well-rounded drummer since, well, Gadd! As for John, he's making blues playing more musical. Good to hear someone with a different style than watered-down blues guitar players...Wow...idk why Battle Studies wasn't credited to JM Trio...Pino, Steve. and John...we need more musicians like them!

  • cant stop listenin... john has got some great sounds and tone. that tele is screamin blues groov damn and steve, mans got skilzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

  • steve makes me want to stop playing drums.. i'll never be that good

  • steve doesn't play the drums ... he plays the music, baby. :)

  • THats one helluva way to say hello to someone... Steve u lucky man u!

  • I think it is the other way around... John Mayer is lucky to be jammin with the great Steve Jordan!

  • @OhYeah729 there both great respectable musicians who are both legendary in their own right. i think they're both lucky to play with one another and enjoy doing so. It's always fun playing with good musicians.

  • steve jordan +1

  • MR. Steve Jordan everyone!

  • Respect

  • Man It's Perfect.

This drummer knows everything about how make a musicvibe, if you really understand me.

  • its steve.. what do you expect ;D

  • So good

  • Thats amazing how he was tuning his drums and keeping a beat at the same time.

  • Ugh I wanna jam!

  • i really like steve especially for this record. He works really well with john picking up where he wants to go and goin for it. thats how in repair happened and i dont think anyone would disagree that in repair is an incredible tune.

  • what you are really crazy

  • Comment removed

  • he's not a drummer. he's THE groove baby ;)

  • couldnt have said it better

  • @LuXguitaR WOohoo lets like the removed comment!!!

  • crazy good tone. john is that an original princeton? i'm assuming it is.

  • teach me everything you know??

  • i have a fender princeton =) wish i had the 52 tele though

  • musical genious

  • genius** =p

  • Ok for some reason I just noticed the chord progression and fell in love with this jam... i can't escape it now... gotta find that shit...

  • this is so raw and such a sick chord prog. stripped to the bare essentials. imagery painted here is amazing. must be nice to have someone like steve there to jam with. and im positive steve feels the same way.

  • Comment removed

  • im sure that tele is awesome...52 through a princeton!!!

  • Yamaha PHX!

  • from the concerts i've gone to, almost every song consists of material like this for a good 2-5 minutes.

    so amazing/impressive.

  • Wish i had some people to just jam with. Even though im no good. this right here is just greatness

  • listen. the first time i really realized that i could place you as a serious blues musician was after i watched "crossroads" the concert. since then i have enjoyed your music. but. ireally hope you would consider a strictly blues album like you really want to put out. screw the fans be greedy, no digital tech. just the band and some serious tube sound.

  • Listen to John Mayer Trio. It's where you find the blues!.. But I agree with you, more blues from John. He's the only musician today who can pull it off!

  • I wouldn't say only. Look into Derek Trucks.

  • derek trucks my friend. derek trucks is your answer for today's blues artist.

  • if only he would quit being a pansy and sing.

  • derek trucks does sing! his slide is his voice. not everyone has to sing with their mouths. dipshit.

  • hey didnt mean to get anyone upset. I like derek trucks a lot and his playing is incredible. but I would just like him a lot better if he sang instead of that random guy who isn't really that great.

  • punkdude543, that's a load of crap... singing is something you do with yuo mouth and throat, no matter how good you can play slide or whatever you can play

  • then how do you explain santana? his guitar is in many songs the melody, or the singing as others call it.

it can sing, it just wont give off the same feeling vocals can. plus if an instrument is the "singer" (keep in mind jazz does this alot) there cant be lyrics which means people cant connect to it as well

  • its personification you idiot

  • I'm responging to ColinsMusic, flintben, and I got the idea he was serieus, hence my comment.

  • i think that musically, they mean singing by the fact they come close to the voice vibrations. Doesnt matter if its a guitar or your voice, as long as it just makes the air vibrating. I agree with the fact that only rare musician can make their instrument "sing"..

  • Can i have a autographed guitar John? I know that you have got so many.:)

  • how can make like this sound? great....

  • with a telecaster, some reverb, a fender princeton, and johns touch on guitar.

  • great sound

  • great soun

  • Who blew all the smoke out of the room.

  • Hahaha!!

  • I can listen to this all day. That Princeton's got a kick.

  • hey john mayer... when is your CD coming out

  • Dang John. Your amazing. I'd love to jam with you one day. I really look up to you as a musician and your a very funny person. When are you gonna come to Georgia again. I'd love to see you in concert. I bought your WHERE THE LIGHT IS DVD. Wow. It's unreal.

  • SICK!

  • all time favorite drummer. Steve Jordan your the best!!!

  • What year princeton? Sounds like it's cranked.

  • very cool. im feeling ya guys.

  • What tallent, please give us more.

    Very inspiring.

Also love the lessons, thanks for taking the time.

  • that sounds (sometimes)a little scofield..

dont you think he should try more of this?

  • i agree

  • Bluesy jazz?

  • such a great vibe

  • John mayer do more guitar lessons!!

    Its hard to find lessons..

  • love it!

  • i agree with the jamming with just drums, but then again my bassist keeps me in line =)

  • STEVE JO-DAN!

  • Ah, now that's what i mean: a good guitar plugged into a good amp. This is how i like to play (mostly because i get lost in the settings when i truy to play with pedals). I might use a wah or a chorus or an overdrive for texture.

  • did you guys hear i dont need no doctor by john scofeild? that tele sounds like a 335 he used

  • So this is based more on the texture of the sound? I get what you're saying about the free tonality of it.

I like not being chained to a post when it comes to music when it feels right.

  • it's basically I7 bIII7 IV7 V7. you're only "chained to a post" if you don't learn how to play on changes, and just because you can doesn't mean it don't feel good!

  • Hey John, hope you are listening to some of Lennon's Anthology... seems similar to what has been being posted on here.

  • Wow.. loving John..

  • Sounds gorgeous.

  • I heard he doesn't write his own songs. It is said that he found a journal with the music and lyrics to all of his music 13 years ago. He just recorded the music that was already made by some say a musical genius. There were only 5 songs left in this journal and that is why he has taken so long with this album because he has to write his own music this time.

  • Dude John do you have a studio in your house? If so that's really tight...and im assuming you are using pro-tools?

  • I could seriously just listen to an entire album of this. It's so chill!
