AHHH i have an XBOX crystal and mine has had the error screens quite a few times but every time i turn it off and on again it works :P so im good, but i think like the new xboxs it doesnt like things on top of it, so make sure nothing is on top of it, if nothing is on top and still the same then i can not help you sorry, but i hope its working now even tho there are new xbox's >.< :P

open your xbox. see if there is dust in it if it has then clean the whole system, put it together and play , i got the same problem and now it is running perfectly

if u have a xbox wich can run burned games, you have to hold in the power button for 3-4 sec when u start your xbox.. it works for me... whatever, if u can't run burned games, then there is no need to try, it won't work.

Don't know if you still want help but try playing a game like Halo 2. Usually helps for error 13 so worth a go.

TBH, 1st gen Xbox was one of the best systems to date. Its up there with the DreamCast and SNES.
