because back then, it was all about people who love making martial arts movies. now, they're doing it for the money, to stay afloat. by the way, good martial arts movies is not totally gone, you still have donnie yen's ip man series, victor zhou's true legend, and more of donnie yen's movies.
the main martial arts heroes are getting old, and are now settling for maestro roles. you don't see very many good ones anymore.
