The man it truly a Singer's singer. He did not hit the waves like the 3 tenors but His technique was superb and he sang with distinction. A cut above the rest.
Beautiful ... prefer a contralto, the ladies seem to be more expressive/emotional/more pathos perhaps, but he comes a fair close ... for a man! I do admire his voice.

A little too harsh for a French aria... It must be sung gently. But then again, it is the Italian style to sing fiery and passionately, rather than with restraint and elegance.
An italian libretto heavily influenced by the french tragédie lyrique. The french version isn't a simple translation but a other version in french style : ténor and not castrato and some additions.
