  • ronnie is the star of the stones!!!

  • Mick Et Al: Thank you.

Imagine how dull things would have been if they hadn't risen to the top,

(By now we'd be saying nice things about Yoko Ono.)

  • Bad ass

  • Wood! hermoso punteo;)

RICHARDS! sin palabras, el mas grande de todos!

  • Woody to all the Mick Taylor lovers: Fuck you!!!!

  • The whole Black & Blue album was underrateed. This track is great!

  • Damn I miss Bill Wyman

  • hey mike silva- remember playing pool at kp's. you played this song on the juke. tell tina i say hi.

  • bring back cool memories

  • I think this is one of the most underrated Stones songs. I love it!

  • @olimpio50 Agreed!

  • @olimpio50

Definately. A lot of great stuff came when Keith and Ronnie were still discovering how to play together.

  • The Rolling Stones are the greatest rock and roll band in the world if you knew any better you'd know that shit head

  • shit, we shouldn't compare these guys with the doors. the doors have way more passion and love for music then the stones. that alone is enough to make me like them more

  • I always thought this one of the best Stones songs, particularly on the mostly awful album. This along with Gimme Shelter, Under My Thumb and the live version of Brown Sugar are just such great songs. Makes me want to take some acid and pinch my buttocks.

  • "lousy" album, bullshit! It reflects the times, with some reggae flavor, funk, blues and this track - its amazing solo played by Harvey Mandel.

  • yes, not one of their best, but harvey almost had the gig.

  • I always thought it was Wayne Perkins that did the lead in the studio version but I could be wrong. I know both Mandel and Perkins played on Black and Blue. Point being, why couldn't Wood do the lead work? Inability thats why! Even Keith could have handled it. Taylor did have some influence on Keith's lead which can be heard on songs like the studio version of Star Star. I still love the Stones but I don't think Wood was the best choice.

  • It was Wayne Perkins who played the solo on this track. Harvey played lead on Hot Stuff.

  • Zoom - That's Wayne Perkins on lead

(Hand of Fate) he thought he was in the band, Keith wanted him, but Ronnie

showed up and Jagger pushed for Ron.

    MLC

  • @mcddtlc

as far as i know keith's 1st choice was originally steve marriott as he wanted a londoner, but mick was having none of it

  • PZ -Wayne wrote a book. He was with Clapton whn ERic heard about Taylor quitting, Eric introduced Wayne to the Stones, he jammed with them, played on:

Hand of Fate, Keith let him think he was"in" - then Ron showed up, Jagger's

comment was: we don't need another guy

to just stand there and play, we want someone who will move around and have

    fun - hence Ronnie. MLC

  • @mcddtlc

    thanks i knew that already.

keith wanted steve marriott before that, when ron was still with the faces.....but mj didnt

however imo harvey mandel was the best of the five (inc. jagger) guitarists on b&b by far, and too slick for the stones perhaps

  • Well P. since I'm a Taylor fan I thought

Mr. Perkins was the closest to Taylor in

his playing & style.. he was my choice..

    MLC

  • Plus, Mandel must have been pretty uptight around the Stones with that germophobia.

  • what ever

    !

    and you that shit personaly?

  • this is from the black and blue album of 76,i recall watching this concert from paris,on bbc2 in 76,quality stuff.

  • rock and roll.buenos aires es stone.

  • One of the best Stones songs ever. It's odd how this gets relatively little radio play. I thought this was a lousy album with the exception of this conspicuously great song.

  • lousy album?what about melody, and memory hotel? are you serious?

  • The Stones are the best. I saw them at Fenway Park and they really kicked ass, I mean they cooked. Keith in particular if my memory serves me right.

  • my favorite song from the black n blue album.

  • rip billy

  • THIS ROCKZ!!! ENjoy every1 lol Paul

  • the rock

  • Wish we had Youtube in 1986, Stu. Would have saved much gnashing of teeth. Ha Ha ha!!!

  • Great. Another example of the fact that this was the greatest band of all times. Keef's Zemaitis sounds very cruel, raw but fits to the song. Good solo work of Ronny though not as good as on the original.

  • great work fo Bill Wyman on Bass and Ronnie in lead guitar

  • Toughest band on earth, no doubt!

  • WOW!!!!!! Awesome song, and a great live version

  • 76 europe-keith does the solo true justice, billy even, thank you

  • picks you up and it knockss you down.

  • if anyone has a playable tab of the original solo. can u please send it to me?

  • dont worry bout doin the exact solo man, just improvise from your own knowledge of the scales, thats all.

  • you said it, dk. it's in the key of Rock!

  • good point, but my knowledge of the scales aint so good^^

  • ah yes, the hand of fate, some of those gems from black and blue just dont get enough play.

  • I am Torgo. I look after the place while the master is away.

  • When Ronnie and Keef were good eh?

  • Love this one. Tough, tough, tough!

  • Favorite off Black and Blue! Spark one up and listen with headphones - heaven.

  • Really Tight! (for the Stones) Billy and Ollie were really good for the band.

  • in studio the solo is wayne perkins , as well in worried about you and the first wailers albun

  • Just discovered the B&B album,i'm a 39 year Paul Weller fan, saw the Stones last year and now i'm hooked!! I'm collected there albums in cronological oreder what ajourney i'm on! I would recommend it, if you get the time and cash, thank heavens for Ebay!quality R&R song,Keff is the man!

I think Wayne Perkins laid the original lead guitar on the album just before Ronnie joined, not sure though!!

  • hand of fate is pure rocanrol .

  • might be my favorite too, brilliant everything but esp the lyrics, like a novel, agree with dkstryker the song to listen to when your having not the best day, Hand of fate is on me now,It pick me up and knock me down

  • one of the best songs of the Stones but always ignored. why?

  • the disco era was comming so hard, songs like "nights on broadway" or "you should be dancing" or tina charles tunes was the context. "hand of fate" as a single couldnt beat those times. "hot stuff was more in the route to the final 1978´s hit "miss you".

  • is this a bootleg? if it is or isnt what is the title of it?

  • it is a tv special about the paris 1976 concert. the opening was honky tonk women, the same of "love you live". the skull sticker on keith´s guitar was revolutionary in those days. a lot of new fans came from that video.

  • It were'nt a sticker- it's a mother-of-pearl inlay on his hand-made Zemaitis guitar.

  • is there any sites you can go and find pics of that guitar and information on it? its a true piece of work.

  • just google the name 'zemaitis', first name 'tony'. i believe that some japanese company is producing replicas of his instruments, perhaps k.yiari (sp.)?

  • lokk in the e-mule "The Rolling Stones - French Made 1976 Bootleg

  • could you possibly up-load that on sendspace or something?

  • first of all, nice to meet you. i want you to know that i'm spanish and i'm not sure if you want the dvd or cd from that song. i've got an albun called "french made 1976". is that what you want or is the dvd? greetings from spain

  • The Stones are gods among rock bands! songs like this make even U2 look like britney spears!

  • This is one of my all-time favorite songs from the Stones. Thanks..

  • I don't know why this song is ignored by fm radio. It is one of the Stones' all time greats.

  • he had papers that the judge had signed

  • ...ran through Harlem on a stormy night; he shot me once, but I shot him twice"

  • one of my favorite Stones Songs. i just love it man cuz ya know its just like the best song to listen to if your not having the best day.

  • My Nick, my favorite Stones Song....

  • ronnie doing his best, he was not confirmed yet as a new stone, maybe thats why.

hand of fate, a great song with a classic rock n roll sequence but with minor chords sometimes, only genious can do it.

regards from peru ! ! (south america)

  • Love this song - take what I can get - thanks

  • Great upbeat version. I love the guitars on this, Stones style par excellence. Black And Blue is a very underrated album.

  • this song is one of my favourite stones songs

not played enough, love the solo

  • I could gladly wrap my legs around those gyrating hips :D

  • If I could take a time machine back to the 70's too see any band, it would be the Stones by far.

  • great underrated stones classic "hand of fate" from a terrific live show in paris in 1976. jagger with his strong powerful voice and keith and ronnie playing great together. good live version.

  • thanks for posting it!!!!

    so nice!!!

hand of fate is on me now!!

  • God Bless Billy Preson

  • nice clip, luv this tune . . .

  • VERY NICE!!!
