Correction- "THE MUNSTERS" [9/17/64] and "THE ADDAMS FAMILY" [9/18/64] premiered the same week, and went off their networks the same week ["MUNSTERS", 9/1/66, "ADDAMS", 9/2/66].

Both the Munsters and Addams Family made their debut in 1964.

The Addams family is actually much older than the Munsters.

They were originally created as cartoon strips that go back as far as the 1930s.

However, the success of The Munsters was enough to convince ABC to make a TV show based on the Addams family comic. But it didn't actually have quite as many episodes as The Munsters before it was cancelled.

Although one could argue that Addams family, having had multiple cartoons and live-action movies, was more successful in the long run.

Somebody loved this enough to film it back when they had to use an old fashioned home movie camera to do so, then kept it all these years, and then put it on Youtube!  That was from the heart! "We thank you Thomas Edison. The movies are great medicine. You've given us the best hours of our lives!
