Thank you for uploading it! 25 years ago KTLA ran a week long prime time movies and that week's theme was something to do w/ diasters and we videotaped it years ago that's viewed so many times since (another one of those included (Deadly Tower-another TV movie).
I haven't seen this movie since I was a kid. I did not understand it much back then, I was only interested in the crash scenes. Just finished watching it. Good TV movie. I wish they would film more movies like this one.
@metalfanray Have you seen the movie I uploaded called "Miracle on I-880"? Its based on a true story (and acdurate too) about the collapse of the freeway in the earthquake in 1989? I think you would enjoy it.
@insdmia You're welcome. My decision on what to upload next is because of positive feedback I receive from viewers like you. I still have some of my old stuff up my sleeve!
@napachild I have been looking for this for YEARS!,I have not seen this since it was new back in 1976 when I was a kid,I had forgoten that Tommy lee jones was in this too! Thanks for posting!!
@insdmia You're welcome. I found this movie simply by doing a Google on it and found some DVDs for sale. There are copies being sold that may not be "official", but they are watchable, so I got one. This movie isn't the only one like that. Ghost on Flight 401 I got the same way---just put in the title on Google. I have a few more movies I want to upload. As long as I can get past the copyright garbage.
@citygirl5705 Why we call him Mr. Smokey Bear. Ask him if he knows why truck drivers call state law enforcement "Smokey Bear" or just "Bear". Did he work 99 or I-5? I-5 is my preferred route. This movie was supposed to have been filmed on I-15 going to San Diego. But I've been over the Grapevine enough times in 22 years worth of driving to know that movie was shot up on the Grapevine. Saddest part was she was dying and he got killed. Accident was his fault--was looking at his wife.
@GroomLeader P.S. David Nelson (Harriet's oldest son) played the part of the CHP that told Robert Conrad about the van. David Nelson passed away last year. He was the only surviving member of the Nelson family. I don't know if you're old enough to remember the Nelsons on TV back in the late 50's and early 60's. It was called "The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet" with their sons Rick and Dave.
@napachild Though I was just a baby in the late 50's when the Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet was on, I am very familiar with the show, and who could forget Ricky Nelson. Another great bit of trivia, that David Nelson had a part in the movie also.
@GroomLeader I'm so glad I finally succeeded! LOL! I'm glad you enjoyed it. Now for some trivia---Buddy Ebsen played "Albert" the husband of Harriet Nelson (Juneau). The runaway teenager was Bonnie Ebsen (Buddy's daugher). This movie was loosely based on an accident that occurred on I5 between LA and San Diego. I drove truck for 22 years and ran the Grapevine a lot. The Grapevine is the mountain pass between Bakersfield and LA. I know it well enough to say it was filmed on the Grapevine.
@napachild Great trivia. When I saw Bonnie's name in the cast, I thought what are the chances that she's not Buddy's daughter? And seeing Tommy Lee Jones portraying officer Hutton, what a treat! Thanks for the inside scoop about the Grapevine, I love hearing all the background on movies.

My dad was a CA CHP officer in the 70s when I was a kid, so this movie was a pretty big deal when it came out. He used to work highway 99.
I was looking for it earlier this year and couldn't find it. Thanks. The ended really gives me chills.

Thanks for posting the rest, I found this movie to be an enjoyable one to watch, and a cut above the several made for TV movie formulas of the 70's.
