I´ve been! I went to the BWC to see a gig one evening but arrived an hour early to look around. It´s a stunning place, very well captured here. I should add that an hour spent there doesn´t begin to do it justice; I must go back.
They are in enlosures I think, although it's difficult to tell in the main instance where you see them as the field is very big, but I assume it's part of the wildlife centre. You can watch from a raised viewing area.
Yes, a Velbon DV6000. It's not as smooth as I hoped it would be, but it's one of the lighter and more portable options. I'm still not very good at following objects in pans though. More practice needed :)
