@R34GTRR35 ive had great luck with my z. I beat awd cars off the line, that was with 34 chips intake exhaust and a racing clutch. Now im going turbo. Theres alot of 350z hitting 11's with the right setup. So really if you were not getting good times and wheel spin you werent launching correctly and driving it right :)

I drove 2 different Hemi Challengers, the handling was very dissappointing with both of them. I then tried out a 350z convertible= much heavier than a hardtop... have to say, the 350z would put the challenger to shame on any curvy track, plus its tremendously more refined than the challenger.
and not to mention im just shooting off at the mouth haha. the reason for this is i am doing up a buick right now. i also have a 440 sitting in the shop but just dont have the funds for both. to bad. the buick will come first. my 69 gs is gonna be wild. will make video soon.
@dicktheguncheney We actually sold the challenger a couple months ago so no plans now. We tossed around the idea of putting a procharger on it, but never materialized. GTR's are extremely fast, especially considering they are factory stock. However like the Buick, they are 4000 pound boats.Technology has come a long ways, can't forget GTR's only have a small v6 in comparison to the Buicks Big Block.
here is a link to Greg Gessler and his stock appearing 1972 Buick. he has had plenty of success with this car. . 4000 lbs is lots even for the giant torque monster under its hood. i would love to throw modern supercharging tech at this motor. slap it into your 350 z . also it weights less than a SB Chevy with aluminum heads.

The Stage 1s would be lucky to run a 12 anything off the showroom floor. And there were only 15 Stage 2s ever built. Hardly a production car and I still bet the GTR would beat it. @07350zhr If your referring to the z being waxed, not a chance. The z is running a little more than 450hp. It is turbo'd. The challenger vs a stock z would be very close. I know it was close before I through the turbo on the z.

@sergsrt8 You are correct, it is an RT. When we purchased the challenger, the SRT was not available in standard, so we chose the RT instead for the manual.
@bigdaddy0228 They're nice cars, we have a shop near me that builds some ridiculous Camaro's. I think they just took 6th or 7th place at sema. As far as the stock ss goes, I never really see them making good times at the track. Check out redline motorsports if your a Camaro guy.
@07350zhr Both the 350 and the 370 are crap besides the SRT-8. Nissan cannot compete with the domestics in terms of an affordable enthusiast car. You would have to pay nearly 100k to get the GTR. Domestics have real performance v-8 cars for around $35,000. Simply no competition, and if you factor in the looks, its no wonder even the Challanger sells more that the 370Z.

@SaultheGreat106 okay for one you need to go back to grade school and take grammar 1 again. challengers and chargers are made by the SAME DAMN company and BOTH are classic american muscle. 3, torque is everything in a race because that gets you up to speed. sound is irrelevant because its simply the engine design. 4, muscle cars and engines have land speed and 1/4 mile records topped. AND muscle has one drift and road race championships.

If the Z has 500 HP it has some serious mods. How much was the twin turbo set up?? With that much modification it probably cost significantly more thatn the challenger. If you added 200 HP to the challenger it would be a seriously fast car. The only time import cars ever race muscle is when they have serious mods with lots of forced induction and the muscle car is stock. I would love to see this 350 Z race a muscle car that's twin turbo or with a big supercharger.

When you put a small motor into a car the size of a sand flea, that's what happens. Of course, I'd love to see someone point to an Import that would match a Super Stock Barracuda. In case you're not familiar with the SS Mopars, let's put it this way. Imagine a lightened muscle car with a 426 Hemi that ISN'T de-tuned for insurance purposes like all the others. One with the Hemi as it was always meant to be. One with over 600 horses and running a mid-10-second quarter-mile. Stock in 1968.
Imports don't come with big ass motors. Even a 2JZ is tiny as hell. Now, I'll grant you that if someone was weird enough to take a civic and stuff a 440 wedge or something in it, then it'd be properly bad-ass. However, they don't make 'em like that. Even crazy shit like the Lamborghini Diablo is only running tiny little 5L motor. When someone showed up with a 5L in NASCAR in 1971, it looked like a lunch box next to the competition.

Love American Muscle And My dad has a blue 350z 6 speed and I can tell anyone they are fun cars to drive regardless what you're into... I myself own a 67 mustang coupe with a Kenne bell 4.6 but I'm not against 350Z... only honda's and ricers not imports... Rally cars are EVO and STI and those are fun to take around logging roads... but not for racing so much... 350Z are rear wheel drive tuners that can drift factory, and burn rubber just like a muscle car but without the same feel or sound.....

No one seems to notice the 350z was either not racing at the beginning or just missed a gear or something.... a fucking smart accelerates faster than that. The 350z would have eaten that muscle up.
That was my father driving the challenger and I let him have a tractor trailer head start before launching. The chase car couldn't keep up to see me slam the brakes when I was right next to him. The z is nearly 200 more hp than our challenger.

@94probewithheaders I drag race the car at the speedway quite often and I can tell you neither car would be capable of 13's stock. It would require either more power or a set of good drag radials. Most stock z's, Carmaros, and Challengers I see are running in the 14's consistently. My z which is turbo's and on street tires only runs mid 12's.

@sergsrt8 You are correct, it is an RT. When we purchased the challenger, the SRT was not available in standard, so we chose the RT instead for the manual.

@07350zhr Both the 350 and the 370 are crap besides the SRT-8. Nissan cannot compete with the domestics in terms of an affordable enthusiast car. You would have to pay nearly 100k to get the GTR. Domestics have real performance v-8 cars for around $35,000. Simply no competition, and if you factor in the looks, its no wonder even the Challanger sells more that the 370Z.

@SaultheGreat106 okay for one you need to go back to grade school and take grammar 1 again. challengers and chargers are made by the SAME DAMN company and BOTH are classic american muscle. 3, torque is everything in a race because that gets you up to speed. sound is irrelevant because its simply the engine design. 4, muscle cars and engines have land speed and 1/4 mile records topped. AND muscle has one drift and road race championships.

If the Z has 500 HP it has some serious mods. How much was the twin turbo set up?? With that much modification it probably cost significantly more thatn the challenger. If you added 200 HP to the challenger it would be a seriously fast car. The only time import cars ever race muscle is when they have serious mods with lots of forced induction and the muscle car is stock. I would love to see this 350 Z race a muscle car that's twin turbo or with a big supercharger.

When you put a small motor into a car the size of a sand flea, that's what happens. Of course, I'd love to see someone point to an Import that would match a Super Stock Barracuda. In case you're not familiar with the SS Mopars, let's put it this way. Imagine a lightened muscle car with a 426 Hemi that ISN'T de-tuned for insurance purposes like all the others. One with the Hemi as it was always meant to be. One with over 600 horses and running a mid-10-second quarter-mile. Stock in 1968.

Imports don't come with big ass motors. Even a 2JZ is tiny as hell. Now, I'll grant you that if someone was weird enough to take a civic and stuff a 440 wedge or something in it, then it'd be properly bad-ass. However, they don't make 'em like that. Even crazy shit like the Lamborghini Diablo is only running tiny little 5L motor. When someone showed up with a 5L in NASCAR in 1971, it looked like a lunch box next to the competition.

Love American Muscle And My dad has a blue 350z 6 speed and I can tell anyone they are fun cars to drive regardless what you're into... I myself own a 67 mustang coupe with a Kenne bell 4.6 but I'm not against 350Z... only honda's and ricers not imports... Rally cars are EVO and STI and those are fun to take around logging roads... but not for racing so much... 350Z are rear wheel drive tuners that can drift factory, and burn rubber just like a muscle car but without the same feel or sound.....

That was my father driving the challenger and I let him have a tractor trailer head start before launching. The chase car couldn't keep up to see me slam the brakes when I was right next to him. The z is nearly 200 more hp than our challenger.

@94probewithheaders I drag race the car at the speedway quite often and I can tell you neither car would be capable of 13's stock. It would require either more power or a set of good drag radials. Most stock z's, Carmaros, and Challengers I see are running in the 14's consistently. My z which is turbo's and on street tires only runs mid 12's.

well,i like muscles and imports,but i hate stock challengers.They dont even stand a chance against the 350 z.Because the 350 is lighter,has a good balance between power and handling and a damn good traction control,it is a good opponent even for cars like the porsche 911.And the challenger on the other hand is fat-assed and burns alot of energy unnecessary.A mustang gt or a camaro would´ve been a better match here.
