Oh dear!You can alter the way you wear the drape of the sari but you cannot take the pleats out and pretend it's still a sari! Half of them are not wearing a sari at all, probably better to call it an indian style skirt and top (lengha perhaps?)....I thought Helen Mirren looked ok too apart from Liz Hurley...

The problem is not skin or hair colour, but how U wear the Saree - unless U have a proper understanding of how the saree is supposed to work, you loose the structure of the whole thing. A saree is one of most sensual and sexy things U can wear if U know how to carry it properly. I think Elizabeth Hurley is the only one wearing it reasonably correctly. The rest was just a sloppy mess, Madonnas blouse was just disgustingly shapeless and some of the last few pics were not even sarees.

On the odd occasion white people will also attend to have some fun and they look lovely in sarees, nobody has a problem with them wearing it as everyone else would also be wearing some form of traditional Indian clothing!!

Indian dresses are so extremely gorgeous, I dont wear dresses, skirts or heels, i have a very laid back tomboy style, but if I were to wear anything girly it would definately be indian dresses. There're culture and style is so beautiful.

@MizJohanaah I think its because the rest of them looks very generic but some "white" women could easily. Not all Indians are the same shade or look the same anyway....I think if you took a fair skinned long haired maybe even dark haired woman and put her in a saree..in most cases she would look smashing but it works better on a natural and sensual woman just because of the construction of the sari...its a very sensual form of dress.

I have to say, Sonia Gandhi was the only one there who looked like she was wearing it in the "traditional way". Anyone can wear a saree, but to wear it in the traditional way with all the folds etc in the right place is something of an art. I think you'd have to be a daily saree wearer to get it right.

It is beautiful to see them in saris. I have seen every 1of these women naked including Heather Graham,with only two or three exceptions. I'm going to be as blunt as possible: women R NOT lesbians, nor are we interested in seeing other womens' genitals or breastfeeding mechanisms or vaginal secretions, these things are for private or for their husbands or kids, not even kids, newborns. and their's! Yes it makes one memorable to teens of the world who watch, but mothers do not like to be flashed!
there are sizes for sarees! As I so discovered in an unfortunate way recently....check the length and width are appropriate to ur height and well...width. u can end up with too much material u dunno what to do with (like me), or too little material that u are going to struggle to make a "munthaani" out of...
when you bye it it's all in one piece, then you take it to the dressmaker who's gonna cut it where it has to be cut then he's gonna make the top of the saree to you exact size : really tight right uder the arms...

Indian dresses are so extremely gorgeous, I dont wear dresses, skirts or heels, i have a very laid back tomboy style, but if I were to wear anything girly it would definately be indian dresses. There're culture and style is so beautiful.

@MizJohanaah I think its because the rest of them looks very generic but some "white" women could easily. Not all Indians are the same shade or look the same anyway....I think if you took a fair skinned long haired maybe even dark haired woman and put her in a saree..in most cases she would look smashing but it works better on a natural and sensual woman just because of the construction of the sari...its a very sensual form of dress.

HOWEVER it's pretty sad to see girls who probably don't know how to wrap a sari any better being so racist. I am a white girl and I own close to 100 saris I KNOW how to wrap many styles, I know their history and I am often asked by desis how to wrap a sari. So instead of complaining about white girls wearing saris why don't you complain about desi girls wearing western clothes? Because it would be racist to say Indian girls look funny in jeans and can't carry the look, so why say it about us?

I have to say, Sonia Gandhi was the only one there who looked like she was wearing it in the "traditional way". Anyone can wear a saree, but to wear it in the traditional way with all the folds etc in the right place is something of an art. I think you'd have to be a daily saree wearer to get it right.

It is beautiful to see them in saris. I have seen every 1of these women naked including Heather Graham,with only two or three exceptions. I'm going to be as blunt as possible: women R NOT lesbians, nor are we interested in seeing other womens' genitals or breastfeeding mechanisms or vaginal secretions, these things are for private or for their husbands or kids, not even kids, newborns. and their's! there are sizes for sarees! As I so discovered in an unfortunate way recently....check the length and width are appropriate to ur height and well...width. u can end up with too much material u dunno what to do with (like me), or too little material that u are going to struggle to make a "munthaani" out of...

when you bye it it's all in one piece, then you take it to the dressmaker who's gonna cut it where it has to be cut then he's gonna make the top of the saree to you exact size : really tight right uder the arms...
