i can understand some of it..you were talking about some girl and something something and she tried to come in your house and she was knocking and knocking..lol..since portuguese is similiar to spanish, i know some of it :)
@looco08 this was after staying in brazil for like 3 months... but Prior to that ... I used to REAd magazines like crazy, just trying to learn words. I also knew a lot of spanish b4 .
@klaritavital is it hard???? hahaha its a little too hard because there is so much Slang in Brazil . I learned in Sao Paulo ..people were very mean to me .. that made it HARDER . I had to learn fast though . Overall Brazilians are good people and thats what helped me out .
@thevalleyboy100 /.. I don't know bout that lol .. Have you been to Brazil? If so where? Imagine 40 different native accents in ONE country .. You'll be able to learn to read/communicate SOMEWHAT if you study ..but speaking out there on some social level is TOugh. Also not to mention you go some places ppl only speak in phrasal verbs / slang..You go out there , u'll hear some Crazy SHiiit . Italian is one Language that u can get fast due to the fact that there is less Variety in it .
I wanna know how or where did you learn I wanna learn portuguese so bad, i know spanish which is suppose to help but my accent is awful any tips let me know :) very nice portuguese even though i dont understand it much :)
@klaritavital Lol that is very true I had to sing in German sometimes in H.S. thanks so much though I will try and bother my Brazilian friend from high school she might be willing to help. :)
@cuidatrava Referring to Portugues de Portugal. I would classify this as Brazilian Portuguese. English and Spanish, although they also have American and European counterparts, are similar in grammar, vocabulary, and pronunciation for the most part. However, Portuguese and Brazilian Portuguese differ greatly. For example, those who learned Brazilian Portuguese as adults often can't understand any European Portuguese. This would rarely happen with Spanish or English. I say REAL because I think
@hendrixkixas "Portuguese", at least in America, should be the Portuguese from Portugal. The other being, not inferior but referred to as "Brazilian Portuguese" among those who give a crap.
@hendrixkixas My point (coming from someone who has lived in both Brazil and Portugal) is that it seems that the Portuguese, moreso than the Spanish or the British, have a tendency to claim their way(s) of speaking the language as "realer" or "purer," which in my mind is a form of prejudice. And I think the term "Brazilian Portuguese" should be used only in contexts where it needs to be distinguished from its European counterpart, and not in a general sense to refer to the language of Brazil
@cuidatrava There is no linguistic basis for distinguishing between "Brazilian" and "European" Portuguese. They are the same language, despite the differences in vocabulary, grammar and pronunciation, which do not preclude mutual intellegibility. The labels are cultural, and calling "European" Portuguese, the "real" one, whether or not that's the intention of the speaker, is neocolonialist and false. As an American, I wouldn't appreciate being told to speak "real" English.
@cuidatrava My statement "REAL portuguese" was stated on nationalistic impulses. My family is all Portuguese immigrants. That is all. Sorry if I offended you, since you obviously take this very seriously.
@cuidatrava@cuidatrava ermmmm u can spear us your linguistic bullshit and keep it to yourself ! you may say this is prejudice but the truth remains, the language English and Portuguese were originally european right?so when Portuguese and English people went out and conquered they transferred the language across. Now its not our problem if you guys decided to diverge its form and adapt it. Dont get me wrong not saying your brazilian portuguese is" wrong" but ours is the closest to original..
@tephlonunit Você fala muito bem português!!!!!!!! muito mesmo! tirando algumas trocadas de pronomes femininos com masculinos, vc enganaria muito bem como um nativo daki do brasil! =D
