  • I have Satellite A300-1LI with harman/kardon speakers. Notebook is simply great. Nice design, good performance and fabulous sound. Got it with Vista and WXP recovery.

Guys if you have questions about your Toshibas visit Toshiba support Forum. Nice place to ask questions and find useful tips.

  • That's a cool review! Thank you.

    I have one request:

I would like to see, how powerful it is while accomplishing (daily) tasks. Could you please show some tasks, like working with MS Office/OpenOffice, multimedia processing (pics (editing, Photoshop etc.), movies (viewing, cutting etc.), music (composing, encoding etc.), ... ), gaming, programming (eclipse, netbeans), some heavy java programs, compressing and so on.

I would appreciate it very much, thanks!

  • I forgot: I would like to see the quality (luminance, contrast) of the glossy display in a bright environment, like during outdoor working in the sun.

    Thanks!

  • i just want to play 2 games on this laptop, left 4 dead and counter strike 1.6 do you know if both games will run smoothly? mine has 3gb only.

  • idk, thats what i wanna know too!

  • is the shiny key board a problem for reading the letters etc

  • Nope, not at all...the keyboard (look and feel) is one of my favorite "non-digital" features about the computer

  • Yeah I love the keyboard on the TOSHIBA Satellite A305-S6837

I bet you must enjoy it too!

  • Ya, XXXJoekzXXX is right...if you want to play games, get a dedicated graphics card model...if you don't want to play games, don't bother with it and simply get the integrated (as I have)

  • so like what games do you play? i wanna play L4D and saints row 2...any suggestions? how can i get an upgraded one if this lovely laptop with a better video card?

  • are the cheaper versions of this laptop any good any1?????

  • Yes, all models of this line of laptop have stellar reviews

  • this baby reliable?

  • Most reliable computer I've probably used in a long while

  • how much does this cost where did you get ti

  • i got it for 949.99 at BestBuy around 3 months ago

  • A thousand dollars for something packed with so many features?!? The hell! I wish someone would have slapped my hand and pulled me away from the computer when I ordered my Macbook this week. Greaaaaatt. Do you bring your laptop to school/work?

  • Ya, you found a nice pc :D

  • now help me... i dont know if buy the HP dv2845 special edition... or the toshiba please help i never had a laptop before.. what do you recomend me

  • The Toshiba i reviewed in the video has a bigger hard drive and an Intel Core 2 Duo (said to be faster than the AMD turion that the HP has)...the Toshiba also has a bigger screen (by about 1.5")...Either one would be a nice buy for work or college/school.

  • the video card its x3100? right?

  • Correct, it's the Intel X3100 integrated Graphics Media Accelerator (GMA) with 158mn-358mb of dynamically allocated VGA RAM

  • hey dude i was woundering if u knew when the new model of the toshiba satellite is comming out

p.s shut the hell up nafwaz

  • Sorry, I'm not really sure :/

  • most of the stuff u said about the laptop i had no effin idea wat u meant but i do have the same laptop it rocks!

  • lol, thanks for the comment :D

  • you nerd

  • ty dude

  • No problem man :D

  • good day, i just want to hear some downsides of that notebook cause im planning to buy a toshiba A305 series, pls reply if you have some negative comments on your book, thanks a lot.

  • in all honestly, this notebook has very few flaws. Some that it does have are: it is a fingerprint magnet (comes off easy with a microfiber cloth though) and it unfortunately doesn't have an HDMI output (understandable since it is not a gaming laptop). That's about all i can think of.

  • thanks!

  • hello, im thinking of buying a toshiba satellite A300/701 with a 2GHz intel centrino processor, 2Gb of memory and a 250Gb hard drive

so i was just woundering if this laptop would be fast enough for daily usage.

    ur vid rox

  • Both the laptop you mentioned and the one I review in the video would both work very well as "daily use" computers for work/school :D

  • NERD! thanks for helping me find a good laptop! FAGGET!

  • lol, you're welcome?

  • What do you think about Toshiba a300 1co???

  • I'm not to familiar with it, but would recommend any model Toshiba A300/305...they are built very well.

  • does the webcam have mac photobooth features? this is really helpful btw, i think im gonna get this!

  • I am not familiar with that program....my initial guess would be yes.

  • that's the webcam program for macs where you can apply all these effects in real time and snap fun photos of your face distorted, or with artistic effects. i think HP has a clone of it but i'm not sure. AAAAH! i can't wait to get this laptop for university! :)

  • Sounds cool :D Where are you headed for college? I'm going to the University of Michigan.

  • i live in ontario and i'm going to the university of waterloo in september! which is coming up soon so i better stop buy a best buy asap

  • Awesome! By the way, not sure if it's this way in CA, but in the US this model (A305-S6837) was replaced in BestBuy by the A305-S6858 (which has the same "guts," just has a new paintjob/outer look).

  • sweeeet thanks

  • No problem

  • how loud is the fan? and hows the battery life for it? does it overheat often?

  • The fan is very efficient and quiet (keeps it cool very well, have not had problems with heat....it does get a bit warm after very extensive use, but not uncomfortable). The battery life on power saver is approx 4 hours, on balanced 3-3.5, and high performance 2.5-3

  • I just brought the a300d (german version) with 512mb dedicated and 1024mb shared total 1.5gb video memory and it runs cyrsis high detail fine!

  • Sounds very cool :D

  • i have the 17 inch one its amazing

  • Nice :D

  • IS THE Toshiba satellite A305D-S6848 better?

and do you need a modem to connect to the internet?

  • Check the original question (on the original review) for answer to first question. Second question: you either need a dial-up connection, a wired cable/dsl modem (ethernet), or a wireless cable/dsl modem setup (either wireless A, B, G, or even N)

  • Nice review man 10x!

  • thanks mihaimax89...also check out the original overview or detailed location review of the computer by clicking the respective boxes during the video :D

  • is it compatible with a linksys wireless-G router?

  • Should be.

  • do u have a s-video cable("tv out")?! if yes...maybe u could show us more 'detailed'...thx

  • I actually don't own an SVID (tv out) cable...sorry

  • *LABELFLASH

  • Honestly, I haven't tried the LabelFlash feature...the burner works great, but I have only used non-labelflash cd/dvds

  • nice video ...but you didn't show the LIGHTSCRIBE.. pls post a new video about that...thx

  • nice video ...but you didn't show the LIGHTSCRIBE.. pls post a new video about that...thx

  • Nice video I have the same camera that you are using in this video I saw your review on this camera.

  • Cool, ya it's a nice camera :D

  • it is not on maximum power consumption. it is on low power consumption. I have to keep it on low because if i have it on high it gets so hot the cooling pad gets hot.

  • Sorry to hear of your problems with the A305-S6845...now for all people watching this review, defrankond's complaint was not regarding this computer but the gaming version. I have heard of the gaming version getting very hot. The reason is most likely the dual 400gb harddrives. Look into a laptop cooler (sits directly beneath the notebook and cools it very effectively)

  • PyrokidGaia, I can do that for sure, but not until I get back from vacation (1 week from today). I go over the location of the four USB 2.0 ports in the original review (the one that this video is a response to). The WLAN Switch and 5-in-1 card reader I did forget to mention, but they are both conveniently located on the front of the computer :D If you still want me to make a dedicated video for this, please send me a message in my Inbox and I can make it for you in approx. 1 week :D

  • great video but how heavy is this laptop? will it be hard to carry around in college?

  • the laptop is only 6lbs and 1.5" thin. I'm assuming it is extremely easy to carry around in a bag/backpack

  • You mentioned no info about the battery life. How long does it take to make it go dead? Some reviews say it's about two and a half hours, other - three hours. But which answer is the right one? :)

  • Three battery plans: High performance, balanced, and Power saver. If I'm out and about I usually use Balanced mode and if I'm home, it's high performance. As of right this second, I just looked at the battery bar in the bottom right of my screen: I'm 72% full (1hr 56min to go) on High Performance). From what I've seen: High Performance full is approx. 2-2.5hrs; Balanced full is approx 2.5-3.5 hrs; and Power Saver is approx 4.0hr+. The battery life is good and it recharges quickly.

  • To be honest, I thought it couldn't be so strong :D Fortunately, I was completely wrong :D

  • :D It is so much better in person.....

  • :D I can't wait to buy it.

  • Let me know if you have any questions once you buy it...are you getting this same model (S6837)?

  • OK. I'll note you. No, I'm buying a different one - A300-14T. There are no A305 in Europe, but A300 are the same :)

  • Very cool :)

  • Yeah, I know that, but I will have to wait another week before I buy it, cause I've not earned enough money so far.

  • thanks for the review. I might get this notebook tomorrow.

  • your welcome; check out the overall review (this was just a video response on detailed features) :D
