I love my Raider. I probably overpaid a bit for mine, but the PO replaced and repaired every mechanical part possible. I put new tires and replaced 3 engine seals and it runs like a top
Nebraska looks a lot like the friggin Sarengetti huh? You might have to drive out of state just to find some hills and humps worth climbing.
dodge raider is one of my favorite 4x4 truck since childhood, absolutely superb and will not left you behind in a dark...nice one i wish i still have mine, bring back memories lol!!!! 6 seconds ago
I just bought a Raider 87, i noticed that when shifting from the 4th to 5th gear the difference was minimal, and almost no rpm was lowed because the gear shift this normal? I mean, they design the raider transmission this way? Or there could be a failure?
I agree the weber is a good simple solution for the carb if You have problems with it, especially dumb but expensive and hard to fix one like if your secondary throttle actuator vacum diaphram (ufo thingy) fails. $100 dollar replacement, and just try to get the old one off. So are the pacesetters, and You get to ditch the air pump. Even got it through emissions with a cat, proper jetting, and turning down the idle mix for the test. Even fit 32s ATs stock. Anyway, GL with Your new rig!
I have a weber carborator on my Raider, but it doesn't pass DEQ, the oregon emissions regs. Also, I have problems with the choke with the summer blend fuels. Otherwise, it's great!!
Great vid taking it to it's natural environment. I've driven it from Portland to San Francisco & back twice the last winters. Great song too!
Weber makes a very good replacement carb that removes about 90% of your vacum hoses and you could easily turbo chage it with that weber carb in place (Just like the dodge conquest and mitsubishi starion) which would give you approx 245 horsepower(weber carb non supercharged approx 20 extra hsp).
Also if you want to get rid of all of the emissions and the veryyy DUMB "computer" that the car has you can spend $100 on a MSD street king ignition system and you will be better off (after emissions removed increase of about 30 hsp). Another thing to do is remove the balance shafts you can get the balance shaft removal kit for approx $100.
Some people are so stupid, just because it has 4 spark plugs doesn't mean its a four cylinder, it could easily have two spark plugs per cylinder.

A new ignition system for 100 bucks? It's so cheap I'm skeptical! LOL..
