excellent playing, i'm trying to learn this!! not doing to bad, any chance you could tell us the fingering i can't read a stitch of music many thanks keep posting its fab xxx
The Videos in which you see me and/or my fingers, are not edited (Recorded with my Logitech Webcam and directly uploaded ): They cannot be out of sync.
I've played in this particular video the High D with all Fingers down ... and yes some people would say that's wrong playing.. ;)
@Noverus Oh my apologies. Because i was trying to learn how to play it from this video, i got it all the way up to that point then ii got confused because all fingers down on mine makes a lower noise and doesn't sound right. so i'm stuck there :) but year sorry about that
I've got several Tin Whistle in my collection and it depends on the model. Some will sound almost the same if you play an high D as in the video (x x x x x x) or if you play like in most books lectured (o x x x x x), and other Model will have a wide variation in tune. You can assume, that I've learned the dirty/lazy way of playing the High D ;)
If you stuck: Send me an recording of your playing and maybe I can help.
One of the better natural performances I've heard on here. One correction though, the song is actually called In Dreams. Look up the actual score and sheet music.
Well if you already know to play a recorder it should not that hard. If not.. it would be easier as a recorder (in the beginning, but in ormanentation it's same difficult level)
About head it up:
It depends to the whistle. Some sound almost the same and some need a bit playing before they expand to their true tune.
You DEFINITELY weaved Titanic music into there near the middle. I know you did, because I always do that by accident too. I promise you, youtubed this song so I could play it on my own tin whistle, and the part I'm talking about is NOT in the song. I think it's funny that anyone else does that besides me. Hahaha. Good job anyway, though, really. Well played. :)
can you possible send me the tabs trying to copy the notes when watching so far def#gaF# then i get lost I think gab then g but i'm not sure could you send me them and inner light too?
Currently I don't have much time left for make tabs.
If I find some spare time I would consider it...
But otherhand: Just try to get a feeling of the tunes. If you know by itself how each tune sounds.. You should be able to get the missing "part". Don't rush it anyway :)
Feel free to give him the tabs. I don't mind if someone have the time, mood and accuracy to help him -> Don't offend, just do it.
With my 12h/day Work-Schedule (Travel not included) and some Responsibilities in Clubs and Friends... Currently I don't have the time for create sheets and tabs (even not for my own compositions, which makes me a bit sad ).
It maybe sound familiar but I'm pretty sure that such a "pattern" is used in the original soundtrack. Even at concert in Luzern/Switzerland I heard that pattern.
Maybe again to mention it: I played the track just "by hear and guess" so it's not accurate as within original Sheets (unfortunatly no original Sheet available for Tin Whistle itself)
I haven't any specific tips. Just don't rush and never force to play. It should make fun and if it does.. you will play more and get better at it. Just take it easy :D
I love the way this piece sounds on my C whistle.

i think the video is out of sync, if you pause at 24 seconds it's making a high pitch noise with all fingers down..

It's a Tin Whistle (or ''Penny Whistle'').
PigeonLillian 2 years ago
those are both correct names for this instrument, it is also called the irish flute.
scottytheace 2 years ago
Actually it's called an Irish "Whistle". An Irish flute is side blown as other flutes are.
tifferdile1 2 years ago
it goes by several names:
1) tin whistle
2) penny whistle
3) irish flute

The part between 0:24 and 0:34 is from the Titanic theme not the Lord of the Rings. Other than that this is pretty good:P
