I was sitting in the grandstand that he passes on his right at :09 that day, and I remember I was crushed when he ended up in the wall, he'd been on such good form and was pulling away from Mika. Oh well, I saw him win that race a few times and maybe I'll see him win it again, and that day Irvine had quite a charge up through the pack to get 3rd, including IIRC a good battle with Herbert in the Stewart car.

@akosh1976you're missing the whole point of grand prix racing I wish there were such walls at all tracks in the calendar and not stupidly big run off areas that forgive all mistakes. if you make a mistake you should pay 4 it. Schumacher was supposed to stay on the track in the first place not get off and then get back in as you're suggesting

these are the things why he isn't the best driver of all time, if you compare him to senna or häkkinen, it's difficult, because schumi did alot of cheap tricks to win and never had to pay for those tricks, senna and hakkinen allways played fair, and got their respect from that!

Schumacher has a similar style to Jaques (see previous video) but seems more in control and corrects the slide with only a slight movement of the wheel.

Where Jacques is a reactive driver, very much feeling the car and following it, Schumacher (like all great champions) takes this and manipulates the way the car works. Schumacher adapts a lot more than Jacques ever could, and even though on natural talent Schumacher is a little better, he can control a car far better than Villeneuve and takes much, much less risks.
