Been a fan of Michael Frank's since he first came on the music scene...own all the albums...makes me smile, feels sweet, love to twirl through the day with him....
Fist time, I hear this song!!!. this man can make a song out of any situation and make it so sweet and romantic at the same time. Thank you, Michael for such great music, God Bless!!!!
Fantastic artist! The lady wants to know could and should have been a major hit. I´m well versed in smooth music but I never heard of this gentleman. Weird! Can anyone recommend me more artists/acts like him?
@sengxiong82 He's been around for years- used to hear him a lot on KTCL in Ft Collins, Colorado back in the late 70's early 80's - just some incredible music! "Just Like Key Largo" is another big favorite of mine.
just love the ideas he puts in his songs. Really classic with perfect voice for it! Listening alone is really great. Love it, Love it...no others could replace...

lol MONASALLIE!! I haven't seen you since that time you sang with Ray Townsend. So, you're a Michael Franks fan too? I'm Laura's brother. Remember you sang that night at the Hilton when my neice April sang. I used to be married to Monica Bowser. I know you remember her...she was the lead singer for Dillinger?
@frankmacalino20 This song forced me to look up what Giaconda meant. Although, I've always been a Da Vinci fan, I had no idea it refered to the Mona Lisa
Love MF's music. I'm gonna ask my fiance if I could eat eggplant and all the other ingredients off her body. Hopefully she won't mind and will let me.
surely mr. franks is a fan of bob dorough, blossom dearie and perhaps lyricist fran landesman? his lyrics have that witty, quirky element that set them apart. nice.
I stumbled onto Michael Franks back in 1975 while in the 84th Army Band in Stuttgart, Germany. It was the year of Kenny Rankin and MIchael Franks and both are awesome. I've followed Michael since then and he's tres el fabo.
Wow!!! I was introduced to Michael Franks while living in Nigeria!!! I must have listened to the album most days for almost 2 years, was crazy about it, Oh! and madly in love at the time...
I'm not a musician but it strikes me that the flute part in this is very challenging to play because it's solo, any error would really hang out, anyway whoever that is really nailed it. Really nice!!
This song brings back such nice memories...I was 18 years old and out of my head in love. My gave me the album "The Art of Tea" on Valentine's Day. My heart still stops when I see the album cover.... :)
i wish i could find my favorite song of michaels it was called dear little nightengale first song i ever learned how to sing i love his music he mumbles in perfect clarity
frank's music takes me back to a time when things was so new and exciting.i love the way his music makes me feel .thank you for posting anything michael franks.....
Man. I started listening to Michael due to my Mom's obsession when I was just a little kid. I didn't appreciate his brilliant style until I got older, which I did, but Michael seems absolutely timeless.
I'm sure taught somewhere, everytime I bought a new album of his, it would force me to the dictionary, before Google) Giaconda, meant having to do with the Mona Lisa, now we all know
30 years and I still think of this song when I see an Eggplant.
I have been listening to MF since I was 18, now 48. I played it for dates. If they didn't dig it, out they went :) The dude never studied music, he studied literature. In essence, he has put literature to music. Get the music and read the lyrics. His best work '77'78'79'80, but hey everything was the best those 4 years. Listen to Eggplant, Popsicle Toes, Mr. Blue, Be very careful, the music is narcotic and will hook you.
I really really love the relaxed and uncomplicated way these guys play...it is refreshing to hear a flute with the pleasant voice of mr Franks and his guitar..just so cool.
Thank you for the info. I had no idea that 'Crossfire' were an Australian band - or that Michael Franks has visited our shores. I will endeavour to research the band. I do hope to see Michael Franks live one day.
Michael Franks is an acquired taste. I happen to love the guy's music. I was introduced to him with with "Passionfruit" LP. Unique voice...relaxing and mysterious all at the same time. Back in the day, before they started making Saturday morning cartoons for him, this guy's singing voice would have been PERFECT for the old GARFIELD specials.
I don't have all of his CD's yet...but I'm working on it! He's right up there with Steely Dan, Joni Mitchell, and Gino Vannelli. The world needs more elegant jazz/rock like this.
I may be young but i have an outstanding love for Jazz music. Dont get me wrong though i like all types, its just that Jazz music, sung well, gives a very relaxing, intriging perception of life if you think about every word said. YOUR MY FAV.! LOVE YA MICHAEL!
I have been a fan since 1980 - and have been ever since. The way he blends his oh so sensual lyrics and melody is quite exceptional.
