The whole discussion about the US gouvernment being involved in 911 to create a faked reason for war is ridiculous. I guess that the US would not do this in the first place. And 911 was far too big and expensive. But just the right size if someone else wanted to draw the US into a costly war where they can make a lot of new enemies. I love the Onion, I've loved the Onion for a long time, but for once I can honestly say I didn't find this funny at all. Maybe it's because I'm a firefighter, in fact I'm quite certain that's why, but the way they say "The roof collapsed" "and he burned alive" just totally put me off. That kind of thing happens quite a bit, and I don't know why they'd make a joke about it. Not bashing the Onion, however, I love them more than you know.
@Selkafi i agree. usually i find the onion really funny, but a story like this came on the radio this morning about two firefighters getter caught under a collapsing roof. very sad story...maybe it was just too soon for me to be watching this.
@Selkafi I sympathize with your profession and the danger you face everyday, but certainly the Onion is not making fun of firefighters. They are lampooning the way our society treats fallen members. When young models die, news networks display their half-nude photos and claim how beautiful they were. Rarely does the media appreciate people for their true accomplishments and bravery. Firefighters were the perfect topic, because they are the epitome of bravery in our society.

This is extremely clever. In this day and age whenever a super model or a goodlooking actor or actress dies their on the news for about a week, whereas firefighters are probably killed everyday yet how often do you hear about it. Comedy with a serious message at times is the best comedy.
