He was perfect for this role 15 years ago. Now he has 42. Is too late also for Gerard Butler, older than Tony and without his amazing, stunning, flaming, curly hair. At the end, a perfect video with a perfect primary roles. ;)

Good video Jaqueline! I must admit the idea of Tony Curran as Jamie is a little disturbing. I agree however that Gerard Butler would probably do a stand up job, he's a mighty fine actor & not a bad looker either! I still have doubts even on that score,tad old maybe? But you'd probably need the age to get a good actor. Mind you I'm not sure Crosstitch should be made into a series, it may ruin it for some and no actor would ever fill Jamie's shoes I fear. Continued: Dougal also was a disappointment; he should be a darker, older more cynical version of Jamie. Most of the rest of the casting I agreed with ... Murtagh should be shorter/more wiry.

I also LOVE Diana Gabaldon's series ... have read all six books at least 3 times and also listened to a couple on my MP3 player in unabridge audio versions! Looking forward to more ... I nearly cried when I finished "A Breath of Snow and Ashes"

Kate as Claire is beautiful, but didn't quite fill the bill; Agree that she shouldn't be a blonde (that is Geillis and Lagohaire) but lighter than Kate; more med brown with sun bleached lighter streaks and very curly! Tony as Jamie is a total miscast! I agree with others that he should be VERY handsome, VERY large (tall and broad) as well as having gorgeous red hair.

Well in some small way I do agree that a movie should not be made....there would be alot of details that would be lost...but still it would be great to actually see with your eyes instead of with your imagination! Look at how well Braveheart was...I think Outlander would make a great movie!

Kate is perfect for Claire! You have good choices but there are a few I would disagree with. First of all, that is NOT JAIME FRASER!!! He isn't even good looking and just not the right fit at all. And I would swap your characters for Dougal and Colum. I see it the other way around definately!!!

Two comments:

1) Gerard Butler would be a fantastic Jamie. He's 6'2" and already has the accent; all he'd need is red hair!  As well, he has that aura and charm that Jamie possesses.

2) I don't know where some people are getting the idea that Claire is blonde, because Jamie repeatedly refers to her as 'mo nighean donn' (meaning, 'my brown-haired lass'). I was never, at any point in the entire series, under the impression that she was anything but a brunette!

Other than that, fantastic casting!

Well, I can't remember what they say in the books, although I read all of them thouroughly, but I got the old version and on the cover, there is a picture of "Claire", a "blond" (not really...between blond and light brown) and I guess I stayed with the image of that lady as Claire. Jamie never refers to Claire as mousey brown, its "MO DUINNE". It does refer to her eyes as being amber or as the color of whiskey when the sun shines through it.Her hair is never refered to as blonde

Go back and read the chapter entitle "One Fine Day." It's near the end of that section. Or, in Voyager chapter #26 "Whore's Brunch." It very clearly says in those sections that Claire is a brunette.
