  • Anyone can Fuck around on a Modelling Synth, although a Great deal of knowledge & experience can set a Synthesist apart. But ultimately, It still boils down to the Music itself.

And today, there are so many distractions like computer Games & TV that stop so many potential virtuosos from spending time & concentrating on learning Music to a high level.

  • it make me giggle that i can get better sound out of free software

  • @JohnF30Music

    like what?

  • wow. that thing sounds great!

  • Mortalllll Kombaaaaaaaaaaat!!

  • The biggest downside for the Synth Lite is that it is 100% DIGITAL OSCILLATORS!

WTF! All of the oscillator sounds are coming from a central processor that sends digital information to a DAC. Turns out it's a fairly powerful Fujitsu F2MC 16 bit MB90F497G microcontroller with 128kB of ROM and 4kB of RAM, as well as a nice complement of built in A/D. This is why I'll never buy one. Very cheap imitations of an analog synth. I'd rather save the dough and get an Evolver or even a Mochika any day.

  • If it dosent make up to the standard, then circuit bend the fuck out of this thing!!!

  • can you connect it to a usb/midi keyboard?

  • @systray27 as soon as you select the sequence function it starts to play right away, but when you've got it synced to an external sequencer or DAW it starts automatically when you hit the start button. So, yes, you can sync it via midi (it has midi in and out / thru).

  • im Selling 1 !!! let me know what's youre best offer!!!

  • Sounds out of tune always. bad scaling.

  • Whatever you did at 1:57, that is Juno Reactor. Does anyone remember them?

  • Huzzah! You will be my tax return bride MFB-Synth Lite II.

  • where can i find this awsome piece of equipment

  • @DANCERRAVER: Google for "Thomann Cyberstore" and click on your country's flag. They carry most MFB products including this one.

  • sounds great to me...

  • seems like anybody can make incredible music now w/ these new instruments. I think everyone should be playing their kaossilators, microkorgs, synth lites, and w/e the hell else in public.

  • @Terrorizzzm it's all about the batteries, love walking down the street with my Monotron in my pocket

  • so how does that internal step-sequencer work? You play in the notes with a keyboard by pushing the rec button and then there's some (hidden?) play button to let it start? can you sync it somehow?

  • It is a bit more complex, google MFB SyLITE IIe, go to the only page that comes up (MFB website), and go to the botom of the page to download the manual.

I just uploaded a video with MFB going through some guitar effects, sounds good in real life, but the video is bad...

  • i use a doepfer modular for my studio and stuff...but for live situations i take one of this, the mfb 502 drummmachine and a minimax and they do the job in a small space and in a really easy way! amazing!

  • I find it funny how the names on the peace of equipment right there plain as day and people call it something different.... Is there a pattern here? lol Just messin

  • mentioning an MFB and a 303 in the same sentence is meteor-vs-face material before you say the first letter.

  • i think tb-303s sound extremely organic and trippy and everything but i don't get what's so great about the actual patches that people use it for... i prefer a moog resonant "ow" bass line with a little reverb for oomph & some filter modulation any day

  • The 303 dosnt even have a "Real" Square wave....Put that thing through an Oscilloscope and you find that the Square wave is kinda mixed with a Saw and Sine......its rather retarded.....but hey....where else are you gonna find that sound? Oh yeah.....the thousands of people around the world building there own....

  • many square waves are like that, they're mostly found on cheap synths

  • definitely not

  • Hello, I've posted this video on switchedonsynthesizer.blogspot . com

  • is a sub osc just an oscillator that's just always automaticly one octave down?

  • depends on the synth. on some you can choose the octace on others it just adds a lower octave and other can be also used for modulation purposes ;)

  • maximortal said;

don't fake! you are usin a preset!!!!

  • this synth rocks very very good sound it's fantastic!!!!!

  • i have one of these, and i always either use my Oxygen-8 to trigger it, if i want music, or i run my CD/tape player though it if i want ringmodulations/ swoopy filters. far more range than a Moogerfooger, but the beauty of it is it weighs about 5 ounces and you can take it in your pocket. not bad over all, is it?

  • Hown does this compares to the novation bass station in terms of analog sound, wich one is fatter? Love the sound of this little one, dont know wich one to buy:(

  • I had Novation BassStation, but I sold it several years ago. MFB sounds fatter, but it's not as clear as BassStation.

I'm using software version of BassStation and I cannot find any markable differences in it's sound compared to hardware.

I've found publisher comments on noise and stability of this product very relevant after using mfb for couple of weeks. I wouldn't trust it's pattern sequencer in live and noise can be heard very well, when envelope is open and low tones are played.

  • you can trust the patter sequencer and the noise is _cool_ - just my opinion ;)

  • You shouldn't compare them :/

They are very different in both sound and design.

  • Thank you for this video. This was something I wanted to see and your comment I wanted to read, before I'll order MFB Synth Lite II.

I ordered this and I'm waiting it from Germany now.

One question: You have Electribe EMX-1 (MX)? If you plug (loud) headphones into it and turn master volume knob to it's max position. Can you hear significant noise?

  • Can you use an external midi-keyboard to triger its notes/sounds?

  • Looks that way.

  • On the video description it says something about step sequencer. I bought one and everythings in German on the handbook, can't quite operate that thing, but I am getting some really cool sounds using a MIDI keyboard, and some delay etcc after the synth :-)

    Cheers!

  • zomg can someone message me were i can buy one of these i really wanna star making some cool music too!

  • why did this comment get 3 thumbs down?

i'm gonna give you a thumbs up to redress the balance

  • Are you producing everything we can hear on this video with just this one unit? Sorry for my ignorance...

  • definately one unit. got the big sister of it the synth 2, completely analog. what a beast I can tell

  • can you tweak more then 2 knobs at the same time without changing the pattern? I read in the manual that one option to change the sequence was to move two knobs at the same time. If so can that be switched off because that would not be desirable. I am a multiple knob tweaker...

  • soooo...is it midi?

  • yes, it has midi in/out

    (it is not midi btw)

  • it's not analog, it's digital... well, ok it's vca and vcf are analog, but the dco's are al 100% digital

  • DCO is only Digital control...no 100% digital

    sound is Analog

  • i think that's something everyone can argue about for ever and ever... yes, you're right that in theory a DCO is analog, yet it just doesn't have the same thickness etc as a VCO..

when you compare a single osc. from a synth lite with a single osc. from the MFB synth II,

it's clear the synth II sounds much better..

  • yes different the sound from DCO-VCO....

  • If i have commented here before, dont care about it, it is not true.

  • haha

  • Do you need an echo chamber with this?

  • Great! Thanks a lot. I am going to buy one of these litte but great synth. Keep on postin ;)

  • I would describe the sound as close to an SH-101. But I would prefer the MFB because of the inbuilt midi and the small size.

  • I think I'll buy a poly edition of this - wonder if it's possible to use my MFB Synth II as a MIDI box for it...

  • Hello Denkitribe.

I like all your videos so far. Please keep up good work on demos/tuitions, etc.

    Can I ask a question?

You say this in video description:

In fact, LITE II is not a reliable product.

Well, I have an MFB Synth 2 and I do agree it can be a bit noisy but all my other features work perfectly (I too thought it was faulty but I then realised it was because of the Manual printing errors in the German to English translation...so are you sure of these faults?) Thanks

  • This must be the smallest incarnation of Tangerine Dream ever ;)

  • almost any cool peak is delighted at your hand...nice!

  • i love the way it sounds

  • That's real analog sound. :) Pretty cool synth. :)

  • Sounds Kind of like that Prodigy Song Music Reach [1/2/3/4] I'd like on of those. I've seen them at NovaMusik for $299

  • Nice video, I'm wondering how you program the step sequencer on it...

  • This sequence is an preset from factory. to program it you must have an external midi sequencer that send to it an midi signial, its internal sequencer only record and reproduce midi event

  • Good filter sound! I didn't know LITE2 has step sequencer.

  • It's sounds better when applied several waves and effects, but concerning the 303 sound, nothing sounds like the original.

This is anyway an interresting tool particularly for synth arpegios.
