Hi I Love Your Videos you are very talented, i was wondering what would you say was one of the most easy to use and best soundin delay pedal but not so expensive?
There are lots of delay units that are easy ti use. Try picking a second hand Boss delay DD-3, DD-5, DD-6. Good, fairly versatile and go fro decent prices on ebay etc
@Gaza880 Not espensive?? Well you can try the memory boy it's like 110 bucks, if not you can get a cheaper copy of this from this company called Behringer, pretty close to a dd3 it's only like 40 bucks lol.
Sounds great man. One question, how's the signal fidelity on the DD-3? I mean, is there a difference in the quality of your sound between when the pedal is off and when it's taken out of the chain?
Its decent. All pedals, even 'true bypass' will exert some effect on your signal. Some pedals have buffers, some are true bypass. The relationship between these two is complex, and they can be used to compliment each other. If you have a setup with purely true bypass pedals sticking a buffered pedal in can actually improve your signal quality. Decent pedals + good quality cables + good power supply and maybe an actual buffer pedal = no problems with fidelity
Hey Craig-I dig your videos man you are an excellent player! Have you ever tried out the Line 6 M13? You could probably make your chain alot simpler-it would beat the hell out of setting up 25 pedals at each show.
I had a quick peek at it before. I am happy with setup to be honest. I have a Gig Rig Pro 14 that all my pedals are hooked up to in a big pedalboard with flightcase. So despite taking tons of gear to a gig it only takes the time to connect 5 cables to my two amps to setup i.e 2-3mins. thanks for the comment tho.
The m13 is just great, but could never cover all pedals craig uses. I own it myself and the the delays are outstanding, but I bought a tc nova drive which I control per midi, each scene a different drive of the tc. Isn't that cool?! believe me, it is(sorry for the offtopic:P) btw, do you use the midi out of the m13?
nothing could ever cover everything a person needs-the M13 doesnt do pitch shifting for instance but it is a fantastic sounding unit. No, I have never tried the MIDI with it.
I am totally digging the tones you are getting from your setup. Is that a Gibson or and Epiphone? Either way it sounds incredible!!! You have a nice feel and technique. Well done pal.
I have palyed a many of them and they are really good guitars. They are made darn near similar to the more expensively priced Gibsons. People laugh at Epiphones, but I think they are excellent guitars.
Haha thanks. It is a cool poster. I bought it outside a Radiohead gig years ago on the OK Computer tour, been on my wall since. Seen every tour since!!!
hey dude, im going to buy a pedal realy soon and would like to know your opinion on the ehx #1 echo effect. i think it sounds a lil bit better then the dd3 but thats just my opinion. what do you think? by the way i love your vids keep on rockin
I am not huge fan of EHX pedals in general dude. Best thing to do is go to your local store and hook them both up to an amp and do the A/B test to see which one covers the bases of what ur looking for from a delay unit. I would if you can stretch ur budget make sure you get a delay pedal with a tap tempo feature, it really helps get delays in sync with ur playing.
Not sure dude, old video. I dont really use the DD-3 for this sort of stuff I use a TC Nova delay and Line 6 DL4 as my main delay pedals, the DD-3 i use on my clean channel, its just a quick delay setting. Just play about with the dials until u get the tone ur after rather than trying to set to an exact setting.
There are quite a few problems associated with running an acoustic thru an electric guitar amp dude. The main one is nasty, guitar shaking, uncontolable feedback as a result of the type of pickups found in most electro acoustics. I wouldnt really recommend it to be honest. I havent really had uch experience experimenting with distortion pedals on an acoustic so wouldnt really be able to recommend anything man. Sorry
Yeh but what r u trying to do with the elctro acoustic dude? Is it going to plugged into a mixing desk? Or u gonna be running it thru an amp? Do u want it to sound liek an acoustic, or an electric?
What is it ur trying to do dude? You looking for a nice acoustic sound, with some delay, reverb and chorus? Or r u looking to get an electric guitar sound from an acoustic? Or both?
You could yeh. Mite not sound very good but u can. I used to use the a Boss RV-5 and DD-3 on my acoutsic. I had a dry signal that went to the desk from the guitar pickup, and 2 mics in stereo that had the delay and reverb. Sounded good. I now use a TC Electronic G-Natural system. Distortion/Overdrive thru acoustics is generally a bad idea tho.
Nop. Better off wih a DD-7 if you are looking for a similar pedal with a tap tempo. I tend to use the DD-3 for short subtle delays to fatten cleans. I use a Line 6 DL4 and a TC Electronics Nova Delay on my board aswell, they both have tap tempos. Should defo check out the DD-7, Gigadelay, DL4 and the Nova Delay dude.
hey you're pretty good...and i checked out your band...rocked...i just got the line 6 delay...very nice...i, personally, like it better than the D D-3
Thanks for the kind words about the band. Yeh I agree DL4 is defo better than the DD-3. I like the DD-3 for short basic delays as its quik and easy to change the settings.

yes. good recorded song but live video on your myspace sounds horrible. maybe a bad day? look closer maybe you learn? not very easy to do a good live performance but it comes with more years of playing dude;) but you have some good sounds, cool! keep up the playing:)
I take offence to that man. We are a very good live band. I have been playing live for about 8 years, and gig about 2-3 times a week with my other band.
The live vids on the myspace were taken using a digital camera that was sat my feet on stage, infront of my monitor, which u can see from the camera angle. So if u actually know anyting about music and live performance then you will understand that onstage sound is very much different from front of house sound.
Also you cant comment on how good a band sound live unless you have been there in person, again if you now anything about music you will realise that digital camera hardly give the ebst representation of sound, especially at gig volume.
Post some videos of your own playing, then I might consider your opinion.
Yeh check the band out dude. Theres a link to the myspace in the video description, or just type Vinyl Future into youtube search engine and a load of stuff will come up. You can play a harmony with yourself yeh, just need a long enough delay time, so with the DD-3 your slightly limited in that department.
hey dude.. I also have this pedal and it kicks ass!! love it... can you plz tell me your setting? love it... It must be almost like mine cuz it sounds so similiar.. mines goes:
Hey man, to be honest I cannot for the life of me rememeber the settin of the DD-3 in this video. I dont use the DD-3 like this much, I have a TC Electronic Nova Delay that is used for my main delay sounds, a Line 6 DL4 which is used for my atmospheric delay stuff and the DD-3 is set to a short delay to beef up my clean sound. Sorry man
Cheaper, and only need a short delay time on it. Dont require the tap tempo functions and some of the otehr features as I have a DL4 and it was bought as a secondary delay for an effect on one song. Looking at adding a Boss RE-20 anyways, or a TC Nova Delay for a third delay.
does every pedal board has a power supply that can power up several pedals? i dont have a pedal board but i have 4 boss pedals but only 1 adapter.. why is there some guitarist that dont have a pedal board but has 1 or 2 adapters can powerup 5 or 8 pedals??? what do i need? thanx im just new to guitar stuffs.. plz help me....
Some pedal baords u buy will have a power supply. Others wont. My GigRig Pro 14 powers all my pedals in a daisy chain format. I also have two ACDC Power bricks that can power each pedal seperatly that I use as a backup. I also hav a Boss PSM-5 that I use as a backup on my board, it powers all the pedals in a daisy chain format.
Some pedals require individual power suplplies due to higher voltages, so I would always read the products manual to check the power ratings are compatible. Have a look at the Jim Dunlop Power Brick, quite handy power supply as is the Voodoo Labs as it has a few extra features. Mail me if u need some more help.
I think I used an OD-3 as a boost pedal on an overdrive channel on my Line 6 Flextone II in this vid (although I normally use a Mesa Boogie Tremoverb Head).
hey what were your setting on the actual pedal during this clip. this is pretty much the sound im looking for on mine but as much as i've experimented i can't seem to find a good balance.
