  • (In ''wicked" xD)

  • I'd love to see Laura Benanti as Elphaba.

  • best number in this musical for sure.

  • This is the only Broadway play I've ever seen, but I was truly moved... It was definitely an experience... Can't wait to see it again... =]

  • Is this a good song to do for a sort of talent show? My friend and I are desperately looking for a duet (soprano and alto) for a show at a town fair.

  • this is my duet song! :)

  • Do you have the songs "Dainty June & Her Farmboys" and "Broadway"? Could you upload them please? Pretty please? :D

  • Benati is a great singer and was TOTALLY miscast. Louise must NOT sing well. The entire book contradicted her casting. If Louise is talented, why did Rose ignore her gifts? This would make Rose a meanspirited or dumb character. There is a reason that the four previous Louises and the two that were filmed did not sing the role well.

  • @pudgeuncle I think it works if Louise can sing better because then she can sing bad the entire show, however when her confidence is boosted as "Gypsy Rose Lee" she sounds a lot better, because sh ebelieves in herself.

Also, the song "Little Lamb" is more of a wish to herself, so it would help if there was a gem of singing talent in her voice.

  • @OohcoolProductions You are rewriting the show. Pay attention to Louise's final dialog before Rose's Turn. There is a very distinct reason as to why all four previous Louises and the two filmed ones did NOT sing well.

  • @pudgeuncle Louise wasn't seen as very graceful either but she ended up dancing/stripping as a career. How come you don't take issue with that? Regardless, you have to remember that within the story they're not actually singing here. This is simply a scene transformed into song because that's what musicals do. From what I recall, Louise sings not so well in the actual performances.

  • <3 Laura Benanti, saw her in Into The Woods a few years back and then again in Gypsy - she's absolutely amazing.

  • I thought Leigh Ann was the most amazing June I ever saw. So different from others..very cold..until this song, where she and Louise connect...it turns this song from a comedy song to an emotional one

  • i dnt thk their voices go very well together...especially wth tht vibratto...

  • i have to do this song in my acting school and im playing june. I love it and this is a fantastic recording. It helps me practice while i read MLIA lol.

  • I knew that Laura Benanti was a brava soprano before walking into the theater for Gypsy but when i heard her sing this and then the strip i was blown away! I never realized what an amahzing beltress she is . And Leigh Ann Larkin was PHENOMENAL especially since it was her broadway debut. Only hiccup on the recording is at like 2:07 on the word "Wouldnt". crazy crack? i dont even know what it is

  • I absolutely love Laura Benanti! You should listen to her performance of "Unusual Way" from NINE, it's fantastic. She's right up in the ranks of people like Patti LuPone and Chita Rivera. I have no doubts she'll become just as legendary.

  • awesome sounds fabulous!

  • I LOVE Leigh Ann Larkin as June Especially the underenthusiatic "Whee".

Love their voices in this. My favorite version of this song.

  • this is absolute PERFECTION.

  • i like this song but the pics look like men !!!!!!!!

  • my friends racheal and chelsea sing this all the time they are great!

  • SO amazing. I'm so glad I got the hance to see them both. Brilliant performances.

  • mi 2 mates av got 2 sing this in a show were in nxt week lol

    there realli gud tho

    wish them luk!!

  • learn to spell and then maybe I'll consider it!

  • is this vid seriously removed?

  • LOVE their voices, and I LOVE their vibrato, but I think that the vibrato (especially on the last note) makes them seem a lot older than the characters are supposed to be.

    Still, fantastic vocals!

  • Just saw this on Broadway! It was excellent!

  • Vocals are mindblowing! I loved this performances, thanks for posting!

  • *overloads on the fabulosity*

  • the harmonies in this song are pretty must the epitome of fabulous

  • i agree, bb!

  • i saw this with them patti lepone and every one it was awsome

  • Wow, two broadway singers that

    A. have great voices

    B. can sing in tune

    C. sing with healthy technique ??? Too much for me! *overloads*

Okay, and for anyone discussing technique here, the vibrato they use is not too fast. It could be a little slower, but it could be Julia Murney fast (her voice is full of tension). These two girls have very little tension in their voices. Hopefully, they won't sing Wicked or Phantom or some other musical that will ruin their great instruments.

  • i agree!

  • the overtones in Leigh Ann Larkin's voice are insane. absolutely insane.

  • Ahh I'm doing this for my voice concert! I'm singing June's part and I'm super excited!!!

  • i saw these girls on broadwya and they were so good! i loved June's voice

  • I'v got to sing this song with my mate in a show!

    I can't wait! xxx

  • i put a comment abart it erlier on lol xxxxx

  • jee, their vibratos are insane!!! O_o extremely powerful voices, but too much vibrato for my tastes.

  • I've said so too but when I look back to all the Louises & all the Junes they always sing with punched vibrattos. Perhaps it is written to be sung like that. Have you seen them live? They are GREAT!!! :-) Benanti surprised me!

  • i saw them live, it was amazing!

  • i read in an interview that they were told to do their patti impersonations, this may be the product of the revelation...

    just a thought!

  • These two are amazing, I love this version of the song so much

  • the overtones in leigh ann larkin's voice are ridiculous.

  • im singing this in a show soon

please check out my pagee (:

  • I just saw this a week ago. This song was one of my favorites in a fantastic production.

  • Leigh Ann was easily the best thing about this production. I can't judge Laura since I saw her understudy.

  • I totally agree!!! Did you see Jessica as Louise as well? Leigh Ann was INCREDIBLE. The girl can belt like none other.

  • i think that they are both wonderful singers. and this is just the best version of the song i have ever herd. 5 stars

  • I saw this show last summer at the City Center! Soo goood! I have yet to see it again before Patti leaves!! I loved this scene!

  • I saw "GYPSY" this past Wednesday night, at the St James Theatre!!! What a superb production this is!!! An evening I will never forget; the entire cast is so talented, and work very well together... WONDERFULLY done :)

  • Comment removed

  • I'm sure she could live without your advice.

  • Haha, import! Cracks happen, guys.

  • Benanti is superbly talented and miscast. Louis must not be able to sing...that's a crucial point of the show.

  • that is not a crucial point to the show. its crucial that when they perform in vaudville louise is untalented. they are not performing in vaudville at this point, this is the 2 sisters talking and it happened to be put to song. the actress has to be able to carry a tune, she sings all the time. the character has to suck as vaudville. i saw this production of gypsy many times and laura benanti is brilliant in this role. its a perfect fit for her.

  • Are all the original revival characters still on broadway?

  • yes. I saw it last night and they are better than ever!

  • well in real life louse was 15 when she became a stripper but in the musical june seems much older so i think thats right for the play. Although i might be wrong because if louse was older thatd make june like 12 and thats awfully young to run off with an act boy...

  • How long do you guys usually have to wait around at the stage door before they come out?

  • Lauren Benanti doesnt come out, shes big with germs, or at least thats what she told the camp I went to, where she spoke at. But Leigh Ann Larkin came out really quickly, although it was hard to tell her apart from all 'the hollywood blondes'

  • yea she kinda mingled with the others so it was hard for me to tell if it was actually Leigh Ann Larkin.

  • I LOVE THIS SONG! I LOVE LAURA BENANTI MORE!!!! I wish she wasn't married so we could hook up Because she is just so friggin' pretty.

  • are their ages June:15 Louise: 18? I think that's what it is but I'm not sure.

  • OK that is the best version of it i have ever heard!!!!!!!!!

  • I ADORE Leigh Ann Larkin...I saw this on the sixth, and she was the best part of the cast I think...I was pissed off at the second act :P

  • Leigh Ann Larkin on that C# is ridiculous! She's amazing. I was fortunate enough to meet her and she was the sweetest girl! I complimented her on her high belt and she was all like "aw thanks, it really means a lot!" haha

  • Ahh I love her. :D

So jealous she came out for you...She didn't for me. :[ But Patti did and Alan Rickman was there too so yay! :P

  • I'm sorry...did you just say you saw it the same night Alan Rickman was there?

    I'm jealous of you...haha.

  • Yeah, it was pretty weird hah.

He must have been there seeing Patti because he got into her limo, too.

I was actually preparing my camera, and then I hear "Mr Rickman you're fantastic!" and I look up and it's like OMFGZZZ. Haha.

  • The only reason people are comparing this to Wicked is because June has a blonde curly wig and Louise is a brunette in braids.

    End of comparison.

This is SO much better. This song is beautiful, and their voices are STUNNING together!!

  • i am ridiculously excited for this recording!!!!!!!!!!! these two are sheer brilliance together. their slides on "moooOOOOOOma!" are amazing! gah! i love them!

  • Yeah the momma harmonies at the end give me chills.

  • same

  • The recording has leaked...

  • where did you get this?

  • If you pre-order the cast recording AT THE THEATRE then they will give you a 5-track sampler, and this is on it.

  • eight more days until this girl and i have to sing this song in at in the musical review...omg...hope no one expects us to live up to them...

  • i saw this on broadway yesterday and it was breath taking!!!!! patti lupone was genius.....and these two were great.....june was a hoot

  • I saw Gypsy Saturday night on Broadway and it was absolutely amazing. Leigh Ann Larkin is very impressive; she has great stage presence and an amazing voice. Laura Benanti was great as well; I loved her at the end. She did a great job, and these two together in this song were just grand.

  • The producers is actually really good. very good book. You seem to think that anything that is meant to be fun is bad. And Gregory MAguire didnt seem to mind what they did with Wicked so im pretty sure you need not defend classic fantasy literature. And with that last comment i end my part in the Wicked disscussion!

  • can't we just appreciate a musical for itself and not discuss others? =/

  • WOW!! If I knew someone had that attitude during the show, I would have told you to leave!!! Just because you don't like it doesn't mean you get to call it crap!!!

  • Lol, true. As a classical musician, I find Wicked to be quite mediocre. Usually, 15 year-olds make up the audience.

  • Ah, I disagree. I'm almost 19 and I fell in love with the BOOK when I was sixteen. I only recently saw the musical, though I've had the music about two or three years now. I think that the storyline is flat if you just observe it on paper, but the acting behind it is 90% of the time what blows me away. I still cry sometimes when I listen to Defying Gravity. I'm more blown away by the music, and the play does the novel no justice, but I still like it.

  • Wicked may be lame material wise but people like it and it's well known so from someone who doesnt know classic theater well a reccomendation for wicked is great

  • wicked's a wonderful musical

my favorite song from it is "if momma was married"

    oh wait-that's in GYPSY!

so stop conversing over a video!

  • yeah and its good cuz once they get into it they start getting into other shows and knowing more than just like hairspray and wicked and legally blonde, thats how i got a gypsy obsession i was watching a blooper reel of ugly betty cuz i wanted to watch kristin and than Patti LuPone came up so i went hmm, let me search her up,and now im like totally obsessed cuz patti is ahmahzing

  • they both have great voices.

  • I got to meet Leigh Anne after the show when I saw it and she was so nice! One of the most beautiful actresses on Broadway!

  • I went over the rest of the soundtrack (Not this soundtrack a diferent version) and there are a lot of high notes in the Farmboy act ans ive seen the show and i remember her singing them now.

I am obsessed with Laura's "Mamma" (when its just her) and with LEigh Ann's "Mamma" (with laura) she totally drowns out laura though...

  • yeah i think that Leigh ann would make a good glinda. Thats one of the roles i imagined her as after i saw her. Im not sure her voice can be high enough cause its lower here.

  • no i heard a really high note somewhere in there...

  • She might make a great Elle Woods too! :)

  • this song is simply amazing and these women sing the hell out of it! Laura Benanti deserved the Tony and Larkin is sure to have a great career...=)

  • Towards the end of Act I. I LOVE THIS SONG SO MUCH!

  • does anyone know around what time in the show this song comes? act 1 or 2??

  • Act 1, heading toward the end of it.

  • thank you so much!! :)

  • it comes out august 21 or something.

i just saw the show and i think it comes out around that date they said.

  • did they make a cd of this cast? if so when does it come out!?! i want it so badly!

  • I am obsessed with Leigh Ann's slide up, then vibrato on "MmmooooooOOOOOOMAAAAAAAA!!"

    =]

It's hard to type her note out lol

  • Which one sings the top harmony?

  • june...so leigh ann

  • June is the high belter on the top line

  • I love Laura's voice ... But Leigh Ann Larkin's kind of annoys me. I don't know why ... It just gives me a headache. lol.

  • its just SOOO good...I'm OBSESSED!!!

  • the soundtrack is out

  • is the soundtrack out yet?

  • August i believe

  • No, the cast recording comes out in August, this is from the Tonys Sampler.

  • their vibrato at the end is ridiculous, ridiculously good

  • leigh Ann larkin is one of the most talented new comers to come in a long time. I look forward to seeing her success

  • this entire show was no less than perfect.

    i am literally obsessed!

  • Leigh Ann Larkin will be HUGE!! She has the perfect broadway belt, and she is a great actress and a wonderful person. I have always loved this song. But these 2 singing together was meant to be. Like Alice and Emily before them. Thanks so much for posting these, I can't wait for this CD!!

  • I personally thought that Laura was better in the second act numbers (stripping scence/ together). But she was Mind BLowing in t he first act and she only went up from there. Leigh Ann ia amazing and the only june ive heard that makes me wish her character was in the second act. ^_^ 2008 cast = dream cast.

  • Well Louise isn't suppose to be that great of a singer in act 1. Thats why she really starts to let it go at "Together where ever we go" It's about the growth of Louise into the Woman she becomes known as, Gypsy Rose Lee

  • How did they not notice Leigh Ann's minor bad note at 2:07?

  • well, it's hard to hear over laura. and it sounded fine to me.

  • hopefully theyll fix it. This prolly isnt the final edit

  • almost positive that's part of the harmony...

  • Leigh Ann is an incredible talent.

  • call me crazy...i think leigh ann would make a great glinda in "wicked". anyone agree?

  • Does everything really have lead up to Wicked?

  • yes:)

  • she's actually said she wants to play glinda.

  • y does everyone talk about Wicked here. No offense, but the writing of that show was awful.

  • if you listen close it does sound a bit off in the harmony...i want to say she went a bit flat but not a biggie. Stil sounds amazing!!! i noticed it when i heard it, but i didn't put to much mind to it.

  • this is just the sampler...so they'll probably re-record any problems

  • Problems's won't re-recorded, they already layed the tracks many times & many ways. It is up to the editors to master them for the Album release.

  • THEY ARE TOO GOOD TOGETHER.

I am so, so very in love with Laura Benanti!

  • This is just fantastic. In my opinion, they are the perfect pair. Laura is my favourite Louise, and Leigh Ann is my favourite June. When their voices blend it's just so gorgeous.

  • Fantastic.

    The definitive June and Louise.

  • Amazing damn Leigh Ann is an amazing talent
